RIP John's Greek Taverna
Submitted Saturday, December 10, 2011 - 11:12pm [Dine in]

John's Greek Taverna is no more. This place is under new management and is now "JONNY'S Greek Taverna". Apparently the old owners come in once in a while to help out, but I for sure was not there on that night.

Ah, where to start, the BAD

The chicken was bland, the rice was bland, the potato was undercooked and bland. The greek salad was fair and the mousaka was okay. The tiropita was overcooked so much that you could not cut through half of it no matter how hard you tried. I jammed my fork in it and ate what was edible.

The service was embarrassingly bad. The waitress needed to refer a cheat sheet twice in order to explain what the dishes were, although, I did enjoy her pronunciation of Keftedes as Kef-titties. I should have ordered those in retrospect. "Are you done?" was her idea of service. Even the coffee was disappointing as it was served with milk without asking if it was okay that they didn't have cream. The sugar packets, rock hard, are sadly the only things that remain from the old John's Greek Taverna.

The pita was amazing and the water was ice cold!

This felt like breaking up with a girlfriend at her house and just looking around, sadly, thinking "I'll never be here again".

Has potential
Submitted Sunday, March 18, 2007 - 2:47pm [Dine in]

I went to Dynasty based on the previous review on here and I really wanted this place to be good. When we arrived the service was polite. Unfortunately every food tray was almost empty. You know when you're grabbing the last scraps from an AYCE food tray?

It seemed pretty busy so I'm hoping the empty food trays were because they were extra busy. Sadly, in the entire hour I was there, the fried rice tray wasn't filled once. And luckily there wasn't very much shrimp in it, because I'm not a big fan of seafood, so that was a plus for me.

The one tray that was refilled was the sweet and sour pork, which was delicious. This is why I say this place has potential. Maybe if all the food was fresh and I wasn't eating scraps, I would have had a much better experience. There was also a desert bar. Although it was 3 tubs of ice cream and a big bowl of Jell-O, they didn't have to have a desert bar. It's not Baskin Robbins, but they didn't have to do anything, and I LOVE Jell-O. I give them credit for that.

I really wanted to like this place and I'll definitely give them another chance sometime, but my experience that time was average.
