Heron Rock Bistro435 Simcoe Street, #4, Victoria
Very Accomplished
Submitted Monday, October 15, 2007 - 11:40pm [Dine in]

The Heron Rock Bistro is a perfect example of a neighbourhood restaurant that unfortunatly is a little hard to discover, but once you do I garuntee you will be back time and time again. This fresh bistro offers a very diverse menu, that can cater to any member of the family. Anything from the Salmon Benedict for breakfast to the nightly 3-Course Frugal Feasts are above and beyond what your taste buds are expecting. I have enjoyed the experience many times and am always excited to see what fresh new ideas they have to offer. Needless to say this is one of my favorite spots to dine in and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with exciting new flavours every time. Take the time to check this place out, you won't be dissapointed.

This little place is a perfect spot to hit for any meal of the day. I have enjoyed numerous items on the menu and every single time I am thoroughly content. Not to mention they have bennies that are on par with floyd's. Which are the best in town, in my opinion. I give unequivocal assurance that you will enjoy your experiance at this beautiful cafe.

Dainty & Authentic
Submitted Monday, May 28, 2007 - 9:49pm [Dine in]

I have known the owners of this resteraunt for almost a year now, and they have shown me time and time again that they take great pride in their work. In the kitchen they use all fresh authentic spices to emphatically flavor their food. It is a fairly small menu so I think consistant visitations will result in a loss of flare, which you don't want at this place. I have had every entree on the menu and I am always completely satisfied with everything, and I am very impressed by the freshness factor here. The desserts are delicious, although the Honeydew Yogurt is interesting, worth a try if you like this type of thing. It is also a great place for lunch as the menu completely changes. The Floating Bangkok Seafood Pot is my recommendation, it is such a massive meal I don't know how they can serve it for the price they do. When I enjoyed my Floating Pot I constantly ate for 1 hour straight to polish it off. I was impressed again by the fresh spices they encorporate into everything.

FYI: Ceylon was Sri Lanka pre-1972.

Copious & Appetizing
Submitted Monday, May 28, 2007 - 9:28pm [Dine in]

I am a huge fan of Pulled Pork Sandwiches, and that is exactly how I got wind of this place. Since my first attempt here I have stapled Smoken Bones as a personal P.P.S. favorite. The meat they use is extremely delicious and very tender, a prefect rendition of the Southern BBQ thing they're after. I've had almost everything on the menu now and I am fairly confident that if you like meat, you will enjoy your meal here.

This place is a Chinese buffet in Langford. Don't let the decrepit ambiance fool you, and do not come here and look for a consummate experience. Although if you are looking for quick chinese buffet cuisine I think this is the best place in town. Schezuan was my favorite until I came here last week. The fruit spring rolls, deep fried sea food, sesame/steak sauce (compared to Japanese Village, is pretty good), pork, even dessert was all extremely good for a buffet, I was impressed.

I really enjoy alot of flavor in my food, and this place has no flavor. I went a couple of years ago, a couple of times for family events and from that experience I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Samba Brazilian Steak House1122 Alberni Street, Vancouver
Succulent & Memorable
Submitted Monday, May 28, 2007 - 8:09pm [Dine in]

I have not been to Brazil but I have had a few different Brazilian Churrasco's. And Samba's is by far the best. I enjoyed a lunch there not too long ago and we arrived right at 11:30, when they opened. The waitress we had was extremely cute (and Brazilian), we had perfect service because we were the only people in there (although it filled up nicely by 12). The salad bar has everything you need, and the meat is absolutly amazing. This is the place to come if you like your meats, and you're hungary! The lamb and the steak were my favorite, they are for sure some of the most flavorful I have ever had.

The food here is my favorite Thai. The lunch specials are a great quick, extremely flavorful meal for under $15, and the deep fried banana with ice cream is devine. I enjoy Baan Thai almost weekly and am always satisfied. Which is the reason why I continue to bring them my business. Oh, and the Thai Iced Tea is extremely delicious if you haven't tried it before!

Some days this place is so busy there are people lined up out the door, down the path, and onto Quadra Street, now how many places can you name that get that busy. So obviously this place is onto something. If you come during the really busy times you will probably wait for upto an hour for your food once your seated, but when it comes you will be pleased. The servers are fun and usually frantic trying to keep up with the business. The Benny's are some of the most creative in town, and not to mention my favorite. This is a diner and it feels like one, so for a great diner experiance come here.

Flavorful & Fresh
Submitted Monday, May 28, 2007 - 7:26pm [Dine in]

I have a friend who has been working in the kitchen at Moxie's for the past 2 years. Over those years I have adopted this place as my most visited pre-drinking establishment. I almost always have a seat at the bar and enjoy the fresh witts of my favorite bar-tenders. The resteraunt is well managed and kept very clean for your dining experiance. Keep an eye out for fresh features mainly created by my friend. They use meat from the Market on Yates, and their creations will tantalize your tastebuds. Also enjoy a Mexican Bulldog on the patio this summer, they're great.

This is of my favorite resteraunts in town. My teppan-grilling experiences are never less than exquisite at Japanese Village. The lunch Teppanyaki is very reasonable, and the dinner is a little more, but you will not leave this reseraunt dissapointed. I have been consistantly coming to the resteraunt for the past 6 years and this extremely friendly place is always a top choice in my books.

Along with Baan Thai, Sookjai is my favorite Thai resteraunt in Victoria. I recommend anything and everything I have their! Especially the Gang Gai and deep fried banana! For a little treat the Thai Iced Tea is extremely good! Enjoy this small friendly place at lunch during the week for a great priced, delicious lunch combo.

I have enjoyed many afternoons, and even more evenings at Sauce. For the most part the service is great. Beauitful friendly girls are always a pleasure to deal with. But some evenings it get's pretty busy in there, and the service slacks. So if your looking for a romantic quiet dinner I would avoid the party times. On the food end of things I cannot stop ordering the Thai Short Ribs. The Hoisin BBQ sauce and sweet potato frites with jicama slaw are ridiculously good. I don't think I can count the amount of times I have brought someone to try this plate. I think Sauce is a great place to have a few drinks and a great meal, especially if you want to get into a party mood. Hopefully you have a good experience because they're not perfect, but if you don't I would give them another chance. Enjoy

Ferris' Oyster Bar & Grill536 Yates St., Victoria
Exquisite & Eclectic
Submitted Monday, May 28, 2007 - 6:08pm [Dine in]

Every time I go to Ferris' Oyster Bar (upstairs) I am completely satisfied with absolutly everything. The servers are friendly and efficient, the oysters, no matter the preperation, are remarkable! Not to mention the Pulled Pork Sandwich, it is on par if not a little better (in my opinion) than Smokin Bones Cookshack. The meat is so tender and the Chipolte Mayo is so flavorful, this sandwich is to die for. They have a nice wine list to accompany anything and everything on their menu. Not to mention that it is very reasonably priced. I guarantee you will enjoy your experiance at this resteraunt.
