Love this restaurant

This is an amazing restaurant! They have the best roast lamb dinner I have EVER had. The greek salad on the side is always fresh, the lemon potato is always perfectly cooked and slightly tangy, the pita bread is to die for and just thinking about the rice makes my mouth water.

I have never ordered anything other then the lamb, but friends that are more adventurous then myself say their other plates are just as good.

The building itself is clean if slightly cramped. The washrooms are always clean (something I judge quite harshly) and well stocked.

The one spot where they are lacking would be the service, although it has improved greatly in the last few years. The owner can be a little short at times, she is a lady of few words. She doesn't intend to be rude, even if it seems as such. The staff is always clean, even if they are sometimes lacking a smile.

The alcohol menu is long and the prices are decent.

I've heard from my friends that the deserts are wonderful. I wouldn't know, I've always been too full after eating my lamb to even think of a desert. The portions are quite generous.

The prices overall are good. It is now $15.95 for the lamb. Up from $9.95 three years ago.

A good place for a casual date, or a family dinner. If you are planning to go on a Friday night, make sure to reserve a table!

Good food, horrible service

My family and I have been going to Andreas for over 25 years, since we moved to the North Shore. In the past few years, it has definitely gone downhill.

Their worst aspect is their service. The servers are overworked and therefore you receive very little individual attention. The owner is distant and comes across as being rude, although if you are simply chatting she can be quite friendly. In the many times I have been there, I have been treated very well and others times ignored for ages.

I went there for a birthday dinner a year or so ago and it took quite a while for the food to come. When it did, it was amazing, as usual. My friends and I enjoyed our dinner immensely but we had to wait a good 30 mins for our bill to arrive. When it did, our breathless server came rushing past our table, slammed down the bill and flew into the kitchen without even meeting our eyes. While looking at the bill, I realized they had charged us for the birthday desert. I complained and it was quickly dealt with.

They have recently finished some much needed renovations.

Overall, they have the best pizza on the North Shore. It's loaded with toppings and I've never had a soggy pizza there, though others have complained about that. I enjoy their lasagna, spaghetti, and other pasta dishes as well. I find them full of flavour. The servings are generous and well priced. The only downfall is their terrible service.

Andreas is a very good restaurant, if you are willing to wait and possibly put up with a crabby server.
