Loved it

My experience here was great! I thought the dim dum here was some of the best I've had in a really long time. The food came out hot and fresh, and the portion size was good but most importantly it was very tasty. I think it compares well with Sun Sui Wah (perhaps this is an exaggeration) but without the heavy price. I can't wait to go back next weekend to try more of their dim sum.

Try it for yourself

I can see why people like the dim sum here so much - the prices are reasonable, the food comes out hot and fresh, they have a good selection and the dumplings are huge. But I have to say I was a little disappointed because the dumplings (har gow, sui mai etc.) are largely filled with pork fat which is why they are so big. I felt so riched-out after a couple pieces. The prawn dumplings didn't have a lot of prawn taste so I could tell that they use a lot of pork fat.

I did sort of like it here and I would go again to try other dim sum, but it's not all that and there are better places, in my opinion. Btw, don't order the sweet egg-yolk steam bun (which is usually one of my favorites) as it is so gross! It's suppose to be light and custardy but this one oozed out thick oil and tasted weird.

Great food but slow service

I've been here many times for dinnner and the food is consistently good - the sushi and sashimi are fresh and the tempura is awesome. There's something about the way the food is prepared here that makes it better than a lot of other places, it tastes authentic and carefully made.

The service is pretty slow though so if you plan to go for dinner make sure you have time and patience. The servers are pretty attentive but I think the kitchen takes a while to get the food out.

My favorite bubble tea joint
Submitted Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 8:02pm [Dine in]

This is a fun place to hang-out. They make really good bubble tea here and the food is tasty too. I usually order their hot bubble drinks which come in a cute tea pot. Their fresh fruit slushies are yummy too.

For food, we usually order appetizers like fried suid, fried oysters, and chicken knees. We also like their set meals and hot pots. I think their food is pretty interesting. Decent value too.

My favorite place for pho
Submitted Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 7:42pm [Dine in]

I've been going to this place for years and I think this place has the best tasting pho soup. I'm not exactly sure what makes this soup better than others but I would say it has a nice balance of flavours - not too salty, a little sweet, nicely spiced, and not a crazy amount of msg.
Aside from the soup, I also love their grilled lemongrass porkchop. It's so flavourful! My bf likes their lemongrass chicken.

I'd also like to add that this place is nice and clean compared to other pho places. That's another reason why I'll keep going here.

Substantial vegetarian food
Submitted Tuesday, January 13, 2009 - 7:22pm [Dine in]

The portions are decent and the food is really filling! Their dishes have a lot of beans, cheese, root vegetables, and firm tofu. I know that doesn't sound appetizing but it's actually pretty flavorful and tasty.
I do have to complain about the servers' dirty clothes though - stains on their jeans and t-shirts... made me lose my appetite. Maybe the granola-types that frequent there don't mind but I do! I'll go again but if I see dirty clothes, I won't stay.

Tasty sushi, fun to eat
Submitted Monday, January 12, 2009 - 8:41pm [Dine in]

I've tried the prawn/avocado roll and the chopped scallop/asparagus roll... they were pretty tasty. I only paid $2/roll because I went after 430pm otherwise the rolls are $3-4. They are sort of half-size rolls but they are packed with filling so they are actually pretty substantial. They have a deal where if you order any 3 rolls you pay only $9 which I think is pretty reasonable. I think it definitely beats a lot of the crappy sushi joints out there. Maybe it's slightly more than what you'd want to pay but the ingredients are good quality. If you go after 430pm, the rolls can be a little hard but it's only $2 and it's still tasty. I'll be going again.
