Great Value - fast service
Submitted Sunday, February 15, 2009 - 5:51pm [Dine in]

This is a great place to take the family to for a decent "home style" Chinese food.

It took us a few visits to get used to the very fast service. The dishes kept on coming - in fact, too quickly. Even when you ask them to slow it down a bit, the kitchen just crank our these fabulous dishes at warp speed.

Once you get over how fast the dishes arrive, you can really enjoy some of the most taste foods in Vancouver.

We tried their various dinner packages. All very good. It is not "fancy" dining, but it is great tasting food.

The price point is incredibly inexpensive.

The food is addictive. We go there at least once a month, if not more.

Always a good meal

This is becoming one of the staples of restaurants for our family. The food is quite good, especially the Singapore vermicille. From wonton noodle soup to a 10 course meal, all are well prepared and very taste.

We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We never had a bad experience.

Good food, good people.

Got my vote
Submitted Sunday, February 15, 2009 - 5:39pm [Dine in]

One of the cornerstone Chinese restaurants in SE Vancouver. I have been eating at Wonton King for over 15 years and never had a bad experience. The servers are kind and courteous. The quality of food is top notch. The dishes are well prepared and presented. The name "Wonton King" is really a misnomer, as their offering out exceeds the connotation of wonton soup. This is one of the better quality Chinese restaurants, and the price is reflective of its quality.

I have tried most of their dishes, and all are very good.

How it had changed ... not really
Submitted Sunday, February 15, 2009 - 5:31pm [Dine in]

When they first opened, people were lining out the door to eat there. Typical of a new reataurant. The service was never very good, waitress not very friendly, and the food was just average. I thought it was because they were just too busy. Today, you still get the same service, food quality, but no line ups.

The food is similar with any other Chinese restaurants with a western twist. I still go there once every couple of month. It is ok when you are hungry. I am pretty neutral about this place.

First Timer? not bad ...
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 11:51pm [Dine in]

Goldilocks was our first exposure to Philipino food. Very interesting... A fast food set up (pre-cooked food) much like at a Food Fair. We tried a variety of dishes and actually were pleasantly surprised by the diverse flavours.

This is a good place for "food tasting" experience.

I think we will do "take out" next time. It is really not set up as a sit-down restaurant.

A different world - very enjoyable
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 11:39pm [Dine in]

The very momentum you walk in to this restaurant, you know that there is a tonne of history here. Only if the walls, tables, chairs... could talk... I do not think much has changed since it was opened, at least a few decades ago. It takes you back to the yesteryears. It is really cool from that standpoint.

It is a quint little restaurant with that "family owned" feeling. It certainly has "character". The tables and chairs are "fitted" in where ever there is room. The bright colors are so "old world". The servers are pleasant. If you are there to enjoy the food and the company, it is a great place to go. If you are expecting "fine dining and attentive service", you may be disappointed. I do not believe the owners intended it to be that.

The food is quite good. Decent portions.

My wife and I had a great time. Since it is on Main Street, people watching is quite entertaining.

We actually quite enjoyed the experience... a little bit of the "old world"... a little bit like dining in a village in Italy a few decades ago.

Delightful
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 11:14pm [Dine in]

Rekados is a little different than the other Philipino restaurants, as the food is freshly prepared. A clean, bright and modern decor. Dishes are well prepared and presented.

An enjoyable dining experience, both for lunch and dinner.

I have been back many times and always had good service and consistent food quality.

Highly recommended.

Curry Chicken - yum
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 11:03pm [Dine in]

Typical Indian food is well stewed. The longer it is cooked, the more flavour is infused in to the food. There are other "fresher" way of preparing Indian food. But for a "buffet" restaurant, it is quite acceptable.

The curry chicken (drum sticks) is my favorit at the Himalaya Restaurant. The tandoori baked nan, when fresh, is very taste.

Good selection of food and lots of sweets.

This is not "fine dining", but then, you wouldn't go to a buffet for fine dining. When you have a craving for Indian food, this is a good choice.

I have been there many times. It is fast (well, it is a buffet) and pretty good value.

A must... many visits
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 10:39pm [Dine in]

From the very first visit, this was and still is a winner in my book.

I have been there with small groups (2 people) and been there with large groups (30+ people). The service, the food and the ambience have been fantastic.

It is true that the portions are enormous, but very good quality. Sauces are freshly made, and pastas are perfectedly cooked. Good presentation. One of the better and more popular Italian restaurants in the lower mainland.

It is a good size facility compared with many other "intimat" restaurants. However, it is well sectioned to create that cosy feeling.

The service has always been outstanding. From the owners to their crew, they care about their guests and equally important, they focus on the quality of their products. They are very friendly and approachable, yet very professional.

A friendly and "comfortable" place to have lunch or dinner. Even "take outs" are quite good.

From friends and family, to business associates and out-of-town guests, it is a restaurant that I can count on in delivering great ambience and terrific quality.

If you like Italian food, heck, if you just like to eat good food... this is a must... and deserves many visits.
