Charlatan, The1447 Commercial Dr, Vancouver
Solid Casual Eats
Submitted Friday, June 5, 2009 - 12:28am [Dine in]

Went to The Charlatan tonight definitely not knowing to expect as I'm not from the Commercial area. I was pleasantly surprised! Quality pub fare at a very reasonable price. I ended up going with the classic beef burger but substituted the cheddar for blue cheese! Satisfying and delicious burger !
I was with a group of eight on a Thursday night; not too busy inside so we were sat comfortably. The service was friendly and attentive. I never ask for split checks at the end but the server was the one who volunteered and brought them out that way which was a nice bonus! The only downside was the pub does not have air conditioning so on a hot, summer night it is quite muggy!

Next time I'm in the area I will for sure pop in for a drink and bite to eat!

Good casual eats

I ate in at the Solly's Kitsilano location for the first time this morning! Both my friend and I had an Eggel (breakfast bagel) and coffee. Definitely satisfying for a quick, casual breakfast...very generous with the amount of melted cheese although quite greasy. The bagel itself is quite small but still enough for breakfast.

Previously I have popped in and picked up their cinnamon buns and pumpkin chocolate muffins! Both were great....Other reviewers have had problems with the service. We went on a Wednesday morning and had pleasant fast service but we were the only patrons so I would expect that!

Sushi Sushi2965 Broadway West, Vancouver
Sushi Sushi Sub par
Submitted Wednesday, May 13, 2009 - 9:08pm [Dine in]

As your stereotypical Kits resident I eat sushi three to four times a week! After seeing renovations done in Sushi Sushi I decided to give it a try for take out. With so many other inexpensive and quality sushi restaurants within blocks I will not return! I ordered three rolls and none were well put together. The ingredients were fresh enough but the actual roll looked like it was made by an amateur having a Japanese themed night at home. Also, the prices are a good 50 cents each roll more than at the other sushi take out places on Broadway.

One of the perks of sushi take out is the convenience and speed. However, as the only customer in the restaurant my order took over fifteen minutes! Save your time and money and enjoy the delicious sushi menus at Hoshi Sushi, Jun Sushi or even Kitsilano Sushi....all within a two minutes walk!
