Nice room little else
Submitted Wednesday, April 23, 2008 - 3:19pm [Dine in]

Dropped in for some waffles, coffee, and juice. Lovely room, nice waffles BUT hirer some staff! The lone French server, waffle maker, and busser ran the room himself. Not cool. Waffles tasty but small for $3 per piece. The sauces are way too sweet. The server was friendly and efficient and made up for the waffles and dipping sauces. good coffee and not bad smoothies. Lack of service staff/management ruins the concept.

Great View - not much else

Love this pub for its view and that's it. Mediocre pub grab that is usually over cooked or bland. Poor selection of draft beers and everyday wines. Service is unusually slow and poor. Too many young things that would rather talk to a customer than take orders. Long waits for drink most of the time, Dirty outrside tables and rather loud when games are on the TV.

Great room wait at the bar
Submitted Tuesday, March 4, 2008 - 7:32pm [Dine in]

Lovely room and great ambiance. Sat at the bar today after a wine event next door. 10 minute wait for a glass of wine and an expresso fro my friend. Bartender spent all his time chatting up some lovely ladies next to us. Martini's had to be looked up and no suggestiosn on a wine recommendation for my friend who wanted some lighter. Truffled pasta not worth teh money...no truffle flavour. Burger over priced at $21.

Not sure what is up with the previous reviewer but Audrey's comments seem to mirror my several experiences at this restaurant. Service is always the star and creative food a close 2nd. A great Vancouver Institution for locals and tourists.

Submitted Saturday, January 5, 2008 - 1:30pm [Dine in]

I loved this place when it first opened. Amazing bison dishes, creative sides, and great service. With the name change its all changed. Pub grub like menu with a bit of polish. Service has gone down hill; lots of young inexperienced servers compared to day one. Saving grace the bar with entertaining and skilled barkeeps. Give the dining room a miss and enjoy your drink and mediocre food at the bar.

Waazubee better for food and drink
Submitted Thursday, December 20, 2007 - 10:20pm [Dine in]

I'm always amazed how this place in a modern building on the edge of Yaletown is a poor cousin to waazubee on the drive. The drive location is dark and old but service is 3 to 4 stars, food 4 stars, and drinks 5 stars. If you want a great top shelf cocktail , gin, or rum, and a huge selection of wines, I think now over 40 by the glass, go to waazubee cafe and give this place a miss unless your off to the hockey game or a music event.

Simple home cooked food and reasonable priced. Clubhouse sandiwch with soup or fries for less than $12. 13 beers on tap with the only ddisappointment being Big Rock (crap beer). Friendly staff and some interesting spirits. Several big screens make it a busy spot during the hockey and soccer matches.

Go for Jazz not food or drink
Submitted Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 5:08pm [Dine in]

What a disappointment for food, service, and drinks. Ambiance is delightful, service hit and miss, and just a notch above pub food. I know it is busy with the Jazz fest but a 45 minute wait for a salad was too much on a early Thursday evening. I love wine and their selection by the glass is uninteresting. My co-worker was not impressed with her warm martini (sat on the bar for a good 6 minutes). Go for the ambiance nothing else.

Typical sports pub
Submitted Saturday, June 30, 2007 - 1:23pm [Dine in]

I had higher hopes from this pub being it is part of the Terminal City Club. it has a decent but uninspiring draught selection, weak wine options, and boring cocktails. Service is average but below par for a pub operated by a private club. food is o.k. with cheap price point. Default place close to my office but Steamworks in better.

Over priced
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 6:46pm [Dine in]

Had lunch here yesterday. $16 for am omelet seemed steep. My business partner had a well presented Caesar salad which he also felt was overpriced. Wine selection by the glass is pretty boring compared to Salt, Chill Winston and Wild Rice. We went back at 5 after work for some oysters downstairs - good value at $1.50 each. Go downstairs better ambiance and service than the main dining room

Nice looking room blending modern with the traditional post and brick. Friendly staff, well presented food, and decent drinks list. Try the lamb rack, chocolate buttered tuna, and for dessert the sublime saffron creme brulee.

Nice new place on Commercial and great for watching sports events. Average beers to appeal to the masses and pretty lame wine list with the usual suspects. Service was friendly but slow. Above average pub food.

The beers here are top notch. The current seasonal beer a raspberry wheat is the perfect summer beer. I also enjoy the Wally Wheat. Service is below par for a brewpub. Food has improved over the last year but still needs some work. A very big disappointment for anything but food and drink.

Stopped by here tonight to hear some classic jazz. Waited almost 15 minutes to get served. Food is very simple just a step above pub food. Poor selection of draught beers and a very boring selection of everyday wines. Cocktails not bad.

Downtown better alot better
Submitted Wednesday, April 18, 2007 - 1:37pm [Dine in]

Wow just had lunch here and what a shamble compared to Steamwork's in Gastown. Very poor service, I spilt a bit of beer and the waitress just left a rag on the table for me to use to clean it up! Waited almost 40 minutes for my burger and it was pretty boring. Beer like downtown saves this place. The beers are amazing but food and service need to be addressed. The wine shop next door is run by the most rude manager/wine conlsultant I have ever met. She spend more time talking on the phone rather than help me put together half a case of winer for a dinner party. Time to look at your downtown wine shop /restaurant for inspiration.

Had a great time in this small Kits restaurant. Nice wine list with hard to find BC offering like Larose and Blue Mountain. King Crab sushi roll is amazing. Try the six course Omakase menu and sit at the bar. Black sesame ice cream is the best I've ever tried. Very friendly and prompt service.

This is my local and only a two minute walk from my home and office. Outstanding beers, the best in Canada, and great pizza's. The young staff are efficient in the dining room but pretty bad in the pub. Great value for beers and food and always a fun meeting point for friends.

I've eaten here since moving to B.C. at least six times each time the service and food drops in quality. Menu both food and wine unchanged in a year. Service indifferent. Wine prices are over inflated. Last night the small entree menu was short two of the items and at 6:30pm what is up? Seems that thew staff has changed and the ownership is not overseeing the operation.

Submitted Friday, March 16, 2007 - 3:02pm [Dine in]

I dropped in with my business associate here last night and what a pleasant surprise. Lovely selection of BC wines and quirky French wines at decent prices (6.95 to 8.95 a glass). Wonderful lobster and crab bisque to start followed by mustard rabbit leg. My associate had the thick country pate and the casoulett (very filling). The portions are huge for the price all under $21 for entrees. Service was very good with a mulitlingual server from Ottawa. Stephan the owner is charming and looked after us. Great place for dinner in Gastown. It's just around the corner from Salt. Have a drink at Salt then come here for a great dinner.

Horrid service - great benny
Submitted Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 2:51pm [Dine in]

I had lunch here on Friday with a business colleague. I'd recommend their benny's especially the steak and mustard benny. Great portion size and well made hollandiase. The service on the offer hand is extremely bad. We stood at the front door for almost five minutes while the manager/server? smoked his cigarette outside along with more than ten minutes wait for a glass of wine and beer (the bartender was talking to one other patron for the complete time.

Service is the biggest issue.
