This small tapas bar run by the team behind Pied a Terre is a delight. Lovely authentic tapas, daily chalk board specials, and Spanish Cava, Sherry, beer, and wine by the glass. The octopus stew, Chorizo in Rioja, and the sardines on toast get full marks on flavour. Excellent and friendly service. Good value drink list.
Our third time here since November. We love the culinary adventures and changing menu that is very regional and seasonal. Lovingly executed food and presentation. Some familiar staff still try hard to romance the food but service has dropped a notch since Christmas. Will be back again. Good value for Kits.
Tried the Fork and Knife burger after the newspaper review. Not in the same league as the other burgers mentioned but better than Wendy's or MacD. Average beer from Whistler and Granville Island. View is wonderful on the patio. Bad service waiting 15+ minutes for our beer and 40 minutes for a burger at 3:30
in the afternoon. Uptight manager who spends too much time doing shots than working.
Even though we live within 2 minutes walk of Cambie; we are bigger fans of the Commercial Street location. Service here is more friendly and professional. Love the mussels, frites, and brunch French Toast. We noticed that Commercial now has the manager from Kitsilano Daily working there! Yea! better wines we hope as well as already better service. We loved Kate our server. What a happy bunch compared to our local on Cambie. Please get more beers from Vancouver Island and Washington - the Belgium beers are too sweet and boozy.
Had the pleasure of having dinner at Delilah's now called Delilah's Conviction. The chef and his wife are filming a TV show here so it's distracting with the bright lights and cameras following your server. Server Etare was wonderful and friendly. The ling cod was delicious as was the rabbit pot pie (daily special). Big wine list and superb martini's. After dinner we sat at the bar where mixologist Simon created some outstanding customized drinks including a refreshing watermelon and basil smash. The new staff are refreshing and its good to see the martinis finally in the new millennium and not the boring old premixed concoctions. Looking forward to more visits on the bar and when the show ends some music (sadly not on during the TV show).
Lovely room with decent service and great bartenders. A bit confusing wen first arriving with no host or hostess to acknowledge you. Buy so get there early or cozy up to the bar. Small wine list, nice selection of bottled beer, but small wine list. Food very tasty and nicely presented but some what delayed in timing and delivery. Try the fish noodle bowl and nelly's belly prok.
SO you'd expect a place with a Spanish owner and cook to be good right? So wrong all because of service. Tapas portions bang on the mark, decent beer, and wine selection. By the glass wines mediocre but nice bottle choices. SERVICE by an indifferent female server who knew nothing about the menu, wines, or service. We were not greeted at the door, missed cutlery for our food, and brought us the wrong wine twice.
Had lunch here on a very quiet Thursday. Decent pizza and nice selection of on tap beers. My wife was not impressed by the mediocre wine selection compared to Uva next door. Service was non existent we waited several minutes by the door in full view of the bartender. Almost ten minutes with an empty beer and wine glass is too much. 2 or 3 waitresses working but no one checked on us until we asked for the bill. What is a European sports bar by the way = lack of friendly service.
A beautiful room compared to all else in Gastown. Small cocktail list but tasty and well made. Food is great value and comforting in nature. Try the carpet bag steak with the amazing selection of sides (creamed spinach is wonderful). Ceasar salad is good but dressing a little light in flavour. Camper's trout my favourite seafood item. Small wines by the glass selection with a combination of local and international. Service was excellent. My partner enjoyed the selection of draft beer other than the mediocre Stanley Park Ale.
Nice looking room with sustainability in mind. Amazing selection of bottled wines; but poor by the glass selection. Cocktails are the highpoint and expensive for a Granville strip eatery. Characturie and cheese plates decent size and value. Salad's are boring as are the desserts. Service is hit and miss depending on the night. Worth a visit or two.
Just started to rediscover this place with all the new buzz in Gastown. The new cocktail list is excellent with "H" the Brit bartender on the bar. Give his Nacional a try! Every Sunday night classic cocktails are featured. The beet salad and lamb dumplings are excellent appies and the crispy chicken with noodles and cilantro was a great summer night entree. Nice looking room, great music selection, and attentive service. We regulars much more often.
Wow a lot of changes at my favourite drive bar? The GM, the best bartender, and most of the servers have left all in the last two weeks. Service is really suffering but the drinks and food still keeps coming. The wine list is still really good as is the huge back bar. The menu seems smaller and the prices have gone up. Best deal is buy doubles of the spirits - they are cheap and stiff. Love the Church and State wines on by the glass and the wine flights still. Miss the friendly wine guy/gm
we went to the wine room next door and pleasantly surprised by the selection of wines by the glass - we were told 60. 40 of the reds are on the enotca machine to stay fresh and there is a great selection of European and New World wines but little to no BC or Ontario product. Lunch fare is fine, little wine knowledge, and better as an after work place then lunch or dinner. The concept is great for the business district buts needs a bit more ploish and better wine/food concepts.
I was lookingforward to a real "salt, uva, yew" type wine bar on the drive - a let donw. Nice loking room, overpriced wines by the glass, and staff that seem to lack any wine or wine interest. Fod was not bad but this place needs a real sommelier to put it in the wine bar direction. I'd rather go to the slighlty shabby Waazubee several doors down where they actaully have close to 50 wines by the glass and all really good value. DiVino make me happy be a real wine bar!!!
Outsanding cocktails here, just above average pub grub - ideally for absorbing alcohol, but on a sad note very pour service from the floor staff. Ignored and wrong drinks delivered on two visits now. Bartenders are great. Perfect after work hangout with trendy drinks a notch above anything else on Main.
Popped by for the first time to the new location. Nice room with high cieling, great standing bar, and nice bathrooms. Menu is tiny I'd think after three visits you would be bored with the food. Go for the bottled beers and draft beer. Noisy room compared to the original location. I was a mit miffed that the menu stated you got three bangers and I only received two - the server said they were bigger that's why and walked away - service needs work. Standing at the bar you'll be overcome by the noise level and the smell of dishwasher chemicals. All in all a great place for a drink. Lots of import beer, small wine list, and great pours of draft.
We realy liked the new room and design BUT from the time we walked in the door to being seated and feed service was poorer than the E&C at the airport. Burgers were fine, okay beer selection, and less thanattentiev service. I'll give them a month or two too get the staff rained up to a decent level before returning.
My wife and I had dinner here and were impressed. We both had the 3 course chef's menu for $50 plus $25 each for the wine pairing. The vanilla carrot soup was amazing, excellent pork (3 ways), and delightful brioche honey dessert. Wine pairings were good but not outstanding with the food. Service was the biggest let down with little attention paid to our table or needs and wants. A better approach to wine and food pairing is needed and some extra time spent on service.
We had not been here for just shy of a year. What a change! the food was still *** but service had dropped and the wine list looks like it has been shortened (too bad). Cocktails still pretty decent. Service was an issue 1 year ago and it seems to have got worse. Long waits for drinks and food. Brunch was tasty but once again 40 minutes for a benny is too much.
Dropped in for some waffles, coffee, and juice. Lovely room, nice waffles BUT hirer some staff! The lone French server, waffle maker, and busser ran the room himself. Not cool. Waffles tasty but small for $3 per piece. The sauces are way too sweet. The server was friendly and efficient and made up for the waffles and dipping sauces. good coffee and not bad smoothies. Lack of service staff/management ruins the concept.
