Food: Small and boring dishes that are ridiculously priced for what you get. Nothing memorable at all and would've expected better from a restaurant attached to the Hotel Vancouver. And what's with serving ice tea out of the Lipton's ice tea plastic bottle?? The server literally brought out a bottle that one could buy from a vending machine, opened it up, poured it into a cup and left the bottle on the table for me to refill my own cup afterwards and then had the audacity to charge $3.00 for it. I was so unimpressed.

Service: Some of the worst service I've ever had. Waiter kept forgetting about us. Always had to look for someone to help us out.

Ambiance: It's like a cafeteria. I would never recommend taking a date here. It's not even a cool cafeteria, more like a cleaner school cafeteria.

Overall: I would never go back, even if someone offered to pay for my dinner.

Can I get a second helping PULEEZE!?

Food: The food was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. My bf said he had the best steak he's ever had in his life and he was a second away from sucking on his lobster's carcass. My lamb chops were so good, I was a second away from sucking on the bones but I figured I shouldn't look so uncivilized altho the man at the table next to us didn't care and cleaned those bones like no tomorrow! You must try their signature mushroom caps - its so much yummy stuffing, you can use it as a pate on your complimentary bread and it tastes fantastic. Again, tempted to lick everything off the plate. Although the food was absolutely amazing, please do leave room for dessert. I have 3 words for you - LITTLE BROWNIE MOUNTAIN. It has the best brownies I have ever tasted and I really do believe that it is the best I will ever have. It looks and tastes so good that every table around us were staring at it as we were eating.

Service: It was so fantastic that my bf actually left the largest tip he's ever left at any restaurant.

Ambiance: The view was amazing and the dim lighting has the right romantic appeal. A really great place to take a date altho you might be surrounded by a much older crowd earlier in the night (around 7:30ish) but the younger crowd kinda leaked in around 9ish.

It's just like any other Hon's - expect pretty good food at cheap prices and rudish waiters but this location is worse than the rest because it's the dingiest of them all, although I haven't been to the Coquitlam location but I'm assuming so. And I don't know if it's because it's the location or what but I always find myself surrounded by the oddest people. Maybe its the water...

I just found my new fave restaurant!
Submitted Friday, December 23, 2005 - 11:45am [Dine in]

Honestly, I didn't want to give a restaurant a perfect rating but I just could not find a place to take marks off.

Food: my new york peppercorn steak was so good, I'm still daydreaming about having more 3 days afterwards. It was the first time in my life, I finished a steak and didn't feel disgusted with myself. My boyfriend loved his prime rib so everything was dandy. I guess the only thing to complain about was the boringness of the steamed veggies but aren't those boring all the time? Sauteed mushrooms awesome. Martinis are awesome and reasonably priced, unlike other steakhouses where they jack up the prices just because they think they're so upscale... *cough* mortons *cough*

Service: the most friendly staff you could find. Our server was so sweet and smiley the whole time. And it wasn't that fake sweet and smiley but seemed very authentic. We were served promptly and were never left waiting even though the place got so busy (because of the game).

Ambiance: very nice. TVs everywhere so you can't miss any of the action. Great place to take a date to a steak house without breaking the bank. Apparently, there are LCD screens over every urinal so you don't even miss any action if you go to the bathroom.

Overall: I have been recommending this place to all of my friends!

Largest portions ever!
Submitted Thursday, November 24, 2005 - 3:05pm [Dine in]

Food: This place has got to be one of the best places in terms of pasta sauce. My boyfriend raves about the sauce all the time. Meat sauce all the way!! We try and order something new each time and haven't been disappointed yet! The portions are so big that my bf and I just share a caesar salad (so yummy - no kraft dressing here!) and a pasta dish and we're both really full with leftovers sometimes.

Service: i always go in the non-peak hours but I once had to wait 30 min because other ppl with me weren't bothered by it. It was cold that day too... So try and go when there isn't a line up and u won't be disappointed! They're really on and off with the service. I remember the first time I went, the servers ignored us for a while but all the other times, they've been really friendly. Not really helpful when its busy tho.

Ambiance: I love the old pictures on the wall. Not tacky like Boston Pizza or TGIF (eye rolling....). It really gives it a nice homey feel.

$50 for a petit filet mignon! They better cook it right!

Food: the sauteed mushrooms were awesome but then again, most of the time at any place they are. My steak came out overcooked. I ordered medium-well and it came out burnt, esp on the edges where it was burnt so badly that they were rock solid. I had to send it back and they promptly fixed my steak and they gave us fresh sides. Otherwise, I would have just given the food rating a decent to poor.

Service: our waiter was esp snooty. Everyone else's seemed really friendly. When we were leaving and looking at the wall of pics of celebrities, another waiter actually came up and talked to us. Not good when your own waiter keeps rushing past you and avoiding your eye contact and other waiters talk to you more.

Ambiance: it wasn't a place to take pictures. It was kind of dim and looked kind of old.... very old Chicago or something. I def. liked Gotham much more.

The food portions were too small and when you think about the price you're paying for the small portions, it's not really a deal. Ended up having to eat again 1.5 hours later. The food wasn't amazing and it wasn't horrible either. Just average so nothing special about the food.

There was one guy there I think was the host, the waiter and the cook. He sat at the next table reading the newspaper while we ate so we had to call him over every time we needed something. It didn't bother me but it bothered my bf.

Just another restaurant... nothing great about it and the place wasn't neat in any way.

Think I won't go back because it's nothing special.

Really great food at cheap prices! Kalamari was yummy and chicken breast with the bbq sauce was amazing. The only thing I didn't like so much were the mushy potatos which kept sliding into my mushy vegetables and some other mushy type vegetables.

Never had to wait because I always end up going there after the rush hour but the servers were over-worked. Had to on many occasions to get water/drink refills. Waiter was kinda snobbish too. Not my fault that I get thirsty when I'm eating.

Chinese fast food at good prices...
Submitted Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 5:55pm [Dine in]

It's cheap and you can't go wrong with the black bean sauce or pepper sauce. The corn soup is good too but big portions if you have 2 ppl eating. Potstickers not bad - a little greasy sometimes but isn't all fast food like that?

A bill for two ppl eating until they have to unbutton their pants is usually less than $20. Cheap eats!

They try to get you in and out as quick as possible so ppl aren't so friendly but this location is much cleaner than the New West one...

Great food but bad service
Submitted Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 5:45pm [Dine in]

Went there on a Fri night and had to wait for a table which was ok until a couple cleared out, leaving an empty table sitting there while we were waiting for 30 min, looking at the empty table. Waitresses are really nice but that's if they even get to you. Didn't have anyone take our orders for 15 min. After taking our orders, it took 20 min to get our food. And when we ordered additional food, it took 30 min (for some mushrooms!!!). Had to ask for refills on tea continually through our meal. Could tell that other patrons were not happy.

Food was great though. Not greasy at all and I really like their Oyako-Don and chicken gyoza... Mmmmm...

It's really squishy/cozy in there but if you dont mind, it's actually quite nice.

Cheaps drink but with less alcohol in them...
Submitted Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 5:40pm [Dine in]

The food may be cheap but it doesn't taste the great and the portions are small. If you want to get filled up, you have to get the largest portion which costs much more. Food was disappointing overall. Appetizers were not bad but small portions once again.

Drinks were cheap but you can't even taste the alcohol in them! The beer seems kind of flat too even tho it came out of bottles... :(

Went there on a Fri night and we were being served with several different people at once so we didn't know who to ask for when we needed things and it took a really long time to get our food/drinks.

Ehn. Wouldn't go back unless someone had already decided to go there, and in that case, I would only order appies and ice tea.

Atmosphere is great. Nice place to hang out.

They have some killer salsa but other than that, the food was not that impressive. Beware of a lot of refried beans... it covered a majority of space on our plates and its good until u get into the 5th bite and starts to become boring and heavy.

Service was great. Servers and hostesses were really friendly.

Ambiance was very authentic and warm. Good place for a low-key date. The patio is especially nice in the summer months.

Incredibly friendly staff - they made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door.

Food: absolutely amazing, even down to the complimentary bread! I regretted ordering the chicken after I tasted my boyfriend's steak, although the chicken wasn't bad. We didn't know the side dishes were gonna be so big (after looking at a neighbouring table) but the waiter recommended we get the smaller portions when we ordered (it was cheaper too - what a nice guy!). I wanted to order dessert but couldn't cram it in cuz I was already so full. :(

Service: the best I've ever had. Our waiter (named Paul) was the nicest guy! Not stuck up at all. And we sat in a booth upstairs and just watching him lug plates and plates of food up and down those stairs was tiring for us. Even the door people were really friendly as we arrived and were leaving. Don't forget to take a mint - they're chocolate filled! Yum yum!

Ambiance: great. Excellent place to take a first date (a little pricey so remember your wallet!). Heard this is a favourite place for many celebrities so try and get a booth upstairs! (Halle Berry ate there but we didn't see her... :( ) Not recommended to do Dine-Out-Vancouver though - heard it wasn't so good from friends of mine.

Well, I've been a really closeted dining type so my sister decided to get me gift certificates for this place so I could try something new - her biggest mistake.

Ordered the grilled calamari to start - yuck. It was tough, had a thick seafoody smell and taste (like it had gone bad) and such a small portion for $12.

Ordered the house caesar salad - ehn. The dressing was a little different (a cross b/w thousand island and caesar) but that wasn't the problem. It cost $8 but only contained 6 or 7 giant leaves of lettuce (a dollar a leaf??!??). And the leaves were wilting around the edges... the least they could have done is get some good lettuce for a dollar a leaf.

My boyfriend had the ostrich and I had a chicken breast entree. Wasn't so bad. Small portions but I think that might have been the theme of this place... Decided to skip dessert cuz the dinner had been so disappointing.

Waiter was friendly, and made sure there were NO crumbs on our table a few times after the complimentary bread had been served. However, upon paying, I saw him take the bill to the machine, he opened it up, saw the gift certificates in there, opened up the gift certificates, rang in our bill and brought it back without the gift certificates included!!! He then claimed he hadn't seen them and thought they were business cards - liar. He then gave us the wrong bill after the certificates were rung in but no matter cuz it was cheaper. Ha! At least we got some of our money back...

Excellent wine selection (although there are plenty of other places that do) and the ambiance is fantastic, great for a first date if you wanna eat crappy food.
