meh
Submitted Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 1:06pm [Dine in]

(fyi for those just browsing 3 means solid and 2 is decent) I recently dined at West first week of December. I was disappointed and it wasn't at the calibar of the price that they charge. My bf and I both just dined from the regular menu because we weren't sure if we were going to like the fixed menus. The complimentary bread that arrived first was really hard. I had to chew for a while, but the olive oil was of the highest quality and nicely softened the bread. I had the quail which i didn't know was served cold, but it was interesting the quail egg was good. My bf had the lobster gnocchi which was very good. I had the veal for the main dish which was cooked in a regular fashion with nothing above average about the taste. My bf had the duck which again was the same taste you can find from anywhere, but the spring rolls were good. We ordered the cheese dish which we enjoyed for pure curiosity, the fruit pairing was good. 1 out of 3 of the desserts provided in the chocolate tasting was good the other 2 were meh, and the banana cherry dessert was okay. The whole exprience was okay just not worth the $350.00; for me, definitely not.

Favourite So Far
Submitted Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 2:32pm [Dine in]

I first tried Ashiana's food from the EatVancouver food fest and it was really good, so i decided to try the actual restaurant. I've only really tried 3-4 Indian restaurants and this is my favourite probably because i love their butter chicken dish/basmati rice/naan bread. You do need to order everything seperately though, they don't come as a combo meal. Service is pretty personal since there's not usually a lot of people there. Ambiance is nice with a little rose lighting. If there's a canucks game they're usually playing it in the front of the restaurant near the door :) I've had better Indian appetizers like the chicken pekora elsewhere but butter chicken is the best. (i haven't really thought of ordering anything different). Everything is made from scratch so you might be waiting a tad longer for the food to come out.

CinCin Ristorante + Bar1154 Robson Street, Vancouver
my experience was awesome

When i went to CinCin with the boyfriend it was a really great night, i'm a little surprised at the bad reviews before me. We went to CinCin for a Christmas dinner out. My boyfriend made all the arrangements and even asked for a table away from the hustle and bustle of the restaurant of which we were abliged. Food was really good... we ordered 3 appetizers cause we wanted to basically try everything, then 2 entrees and then the petit fours for dessert. Its a fine dining establishment so obviously you have small portions cause they expect you to order at least a 3 course meal. Service was excellent from start to finish. As soon as my boyfriend left the table for the washroom they had already taken up his napkin folded it nicely and placed it back on the table. Ambiance was romantic, dark and candlelight but you can still see what you're eating of course (i hate it when's it's too dark). My experience was one to remember, it could differ to your own.

Best Vietnamese in Richmond So Far
Submitted Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 3:06pm [Dine in]

I've been to every known vietnamese restaurant in Richmond; that's about 6-7 places. This is the best or at least my favourite. It's a typical asian place to eat. The food is really good. The service is just straight up; you get what you ask for. You have to order every little thing you want, you want water you have to ask for it. Eat in or take out and then leave. Ambiance is nothing, it's actually better than before, it used to be an ugly pink salmon, now its a off-white yellow. Try it :)
