We've dined at the Bedford House many times over the years, it's always been exceptional until today. We were there to celebrate a Birthday and it was totally ruined. We arrived in plenty of time before our reservation only to be told that they had 2 sets of diners who knew each other and wanted to sit together so they gave away our table to them and then stuck us in the back of the room with no view of the river as we had requested. Once we were seated, we had to wait absolutely forever for anyone to come around to give us water and take our drink orders. Eventually a waiter showed up, unfortunately we has the unfriendliest fellow we had ever met, we felt unwelcome and were treated like it was a nuisance to have us there. No one ever came to see if we needed anything we had to keep asking for everything, such as refills for our waters and coffees. When we actually did receive refills the waiter dribbled the water and coffee all over the table and at one point actually had the water jug resting on my friends plate, on her rather soggy broccoli while he was filling a glass of water, it was really quite disgusting. The appies and dinners were very poor quality for the price. The smoked salmon tasted like chum and was quite inedible. The dinners were dry, over cooked, and tasteless. When the waiter was told of our disappointment in the meals, he offered to apology just walked away. Then came the bills, well, here the sording affair continued, I happened to notice that the prices were higher than stated on the menu. I pointed this out to the waiter, he proceeded to snatch the bill and menu from my hand, mutter something about the manager having issued the bill and he had no control over it. Yes, well, not my problem, fix it and give us new bills. At no point did anyone at the restaurant come over to apoligize for anything, nothing was taken off the bills, this is unacceptable behaviour for a restaurant of this calliber. Needless to say, we will never dine there again, it was so, so disappointing.
