I admit I've not been there for awhile. What I'm rating was when I was there 2 years ago for my birthday. At that time I was thrilled. There were all sorts of amazing Russian things: roast meat on giant steel sticks, apple and potatoe salads, and a good variety of frigid vodka meant to be drunk straight. The vodka's as smooth as ice water. The waitresses dressed in traditional garb. The band played old Russian favourites and we liked it enough to buy a CD, which I still like to listen to.

Soul

This place is really stellar! It's a sort of cafe style, and seating's tight of an evening. But the food is all soul; when you eat the riblets, sausage, catfish, beans, bread--the whole schmear--something deep inside sighs with satisfaction. Go hungry. You'll leave full for 2 days. They serve good beer, too: Big Rock, and cold. You have to serve yourself, no fuss at all, which in a way adds ambience, in another it's rather crowded and loud.

Spanish Atmosphere

I like it here, esp. the downstairs back room, with stucco and Picasso paintings, candles, darkened atmosphere, Flamenco guitar tunes. My wife and I always go for the mix of tapas: patatas bravas, pisto andaluz, pan y mantequilla for a start. Then we'll have albondigas or quail with the gravy sauce. If you go upstairs, my favourite is the paella. What a meal.
