Good burritos and salsa
Submitted Sunday, March 1, 2009 - 2:06am [Dine in]

Had lunch here yesterday, had their burrito with beef, salsa and chips, as well as their jalapeno poppers. Salsa tasted very fresh, and had a nice taste to it. The jalapeno poppers were pretty good, but the outside part was a little too hard for my liking. The burrito itself was well portioned and tasty.

The problem was the service, which was very nice, but it was unclear you order from the counter and have a seat. Also the service was extremely slow because there was only one person working there on a Saturday lunch. So there was one chef/waitress who was busy making food for takeout. Food came out very slowly as a result, but she was apologetic.

The restaurant itself was clean, and was a pretty decent value at around $20, but not cheaper than other Mexican places I have been to. I would probably return if I have a lot of time and in the area.

Great broth and noodles
Submitted Monday, January 26, 2009 - 12:54pm [Dine in]

Had dinner here with a few friends last week. The servers are friendly but have very limited english. They have very few items on their menu, which is sometimes a good thing. I ordered their noodle soup, which tasted great, and I don't think they use MSG. The broth was very good, and the noodles tasted very fresh. Overall a very good combination. The glaring problem was the lack of content in the soup. It was a huge pot of noodles and great broth, but the pot for 2 had far less meat than what you would typically get with a small pho, for comparison. The pot had maybe 4-6 pieces of thin meat, which could easily fit in your mouth. This amount of filling I find unacceptable, since it was suppose to be big enough for two people, which it was because of the noodles.

I am not certain if i would return, since it was good, but it was just noodles. It was relatively cheap, with a pot good for 2 people at under $20, but it was just noodles and broth.

Submitted Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - 5:30pm [Dine in]

had lunch here last weekend with a friend. Ordered their pho, which was loaded with msg that it gave me a headache afterwards. Also there was very little meat, and the bean sprouts were bruised and not fresh. I also ordered a lunch box, which had over battered tempura, non-fresh sashimi and some noodles which was over sauced and did not taste very good at all.

Service was great, got constant tea refills and the server was cheerful. The only downside was the whole place only had 1 waitress, which made trying to get her pretty difficult.

Inside was clean, and decent. Price was it didn't seem cheaper than other similar places, and the pho seemed actually more expensive than usual for the portions received.

Cannot recommend due to the high amount of MSG and the poor quality ingredients.

great sandwiches and meatballs
Submitted Thursday, January 15, 2009 - 2:02am [Dine in]

Had lunch here a few weekends ago. Had the meatball with bread, as well as shared a standard ham sandwich, as well as one with meatballs. The meatballs were quite good. Also had the Vietnamese beef stew.. which was good, but seemed to lack flavor a little.

Also had noodle soup with grilled chicken on top, I don't know the exact name as I did not order. But the soup was good, and the chicken tasty.

Service was efficient and courteous, also had a quality check during the meal. Food was reasonably priced there. its pretty cramped in there and lots of people waiting, so be prepared to wait

Would probably be back for the great food.

Had dinner here on a saturday nigh with a friend. Had the seafood salad, which was good, but didn't feel it was anything special over other seafood salads I have had. I also had their salmon rolls, which seemed pretty fresh. Lastly there was a chirashi don, which was pretty standard, but the seafood seemed fresh.

I was greeted at the door promptly, and my order came in about 20 minutes. Had 1 tea refill and had no problems getting the bill.

Value wise, from what I ordered, it seemed like a not bad deal, but it wasn't cheap. Ambiance is fine, its plain and clean.

I probably would not be back here, as there are a few similar quality restaurants closer to me.

good pho joint
Submitted Sunday, January 11, 2009 - 2:16am [Dine in]

had dinner here yesterday with a friend. Was pretty good, ordered pho with meatballs and rare beef, as well as the shrimp salad rolls and imperial prawn.

Pho had pretty good broth, the salad rolls were good but nothing special, but the peanut sauce that came with it was above average. The prawn imperial was good, but didn't wow me. There was a good amount of meat in the pho, but I found the bowls too big for the amount of noodles/meat in it.

Service was quick and friendly but a little sparse. Value wise, they are a pretty good deal, but around the same as other Vietnamese places.

The restaurant seemed clean, and was pretty nice for a pho place. Would be back if in the area, but its hard to find parking near this restaurant.

Great Pizza place
Submitted Friday, January 9, 2009 - 12:02pm [Dine in]

Had dinner here with some friends. Had their pizza and bruschetta. The bruschetta was pretty good but I have had better. The pizza is actually quite good, the ingredients tasted fresh. Had the spicy pepperoni and a meaty one for toppings. I didn't try their pasta, but my friends reported it as being just okay.

Its nice inside, comfortable and you can see the kitchen cooking your pizza. Was quite busy when i went on a saturday night.

Service I found friendly but lacking. They disappeared for a long time, and they forget things, like when we asked for water twice.

Value wise, $22 for a 13" pizza I found decent, but not a great deal, but certainly not overpriced.

I May be back if in the area to try their lasagna which I hear is good.

Okay fresh Korean noodles
Submitted Tuesday, December 16, 2008 - 3:26pm [Dine in]

Had lunch here a little while ago with my friend. Was quite empty but the servers were friendly. When trying to order, the waitress seemed to try hard to give me suggestions and was being quite helpful. Heard the noodles being made, which seemed quite loud.

Got two types of noodles, one seafood in a spicy soup, and one dry one with a bean sauce. Also had their fried chicken with hot and sweet sauce. The chicken was tasty but had too much coating, not enough chicken. The soups were only okay, even though the noodles seemed freshly made.

Service was great at the beginning, but disappeared once we got our food. Would not be back, since other korean restaurants in the area are better.

Had lunch here yesterday with a friend. I had the same as the previous reviewer, #19 which was meatball and sliced beef, and I had the #30 with crab, tomato, tofu and ham. I also ordered #1, the meat spring rolls.

Spring rolls came out in a decent amount of time. Skin was crispy, but the filling was quite disappointing, it was maybe 5% meat, and i am being very generous here. But for what it was, it was pretty good. The meatball and sliced beef pho was above standard, but not great. The sliced beef I found pretty tender. #30 was quite good actually, it had a crab omelet in it. I have never had this before so I cannot compare it to other times I have had it.

Service was minimal but friendly. Service seemed to be extra good to regulars though. Food came out in a relatively good time and we only saw the waitress at the beginning, when we ordered, when we got the bill and when we paid. So its not exactly stellar, but at least it was prompt and friendly.

It seemed clean with a very plain decor. Washrooms seem pretty clean as well.

Would probably be back if in the area only.

Have had late night meals here a few times before. The service is fast and efficient, though not so friendly, but what do you expect for these types of restaurants. I think its a pretty good value, i usually get some sort of noodle soup with dumplings.

Food comes out pretty fast, and its always good. I admit that i haven't tried many of their items, mostly variations of some sort of noodle soup. I have also tried their jellyfish with chicken, pretty good too.

Clean, but standard and sparse decor.

Wouldn't mind eating here in the evenings if i'm hungry and looking for a cheap meal.

Submitted Sunday, November 23, 2008 - 2:33am [Dine in]

Had lunch here on saturday and shared a chirashi don and lunch box with my friend. They started off by giving us some free appetizers, like pickles and potato salad. Seemed nice, but did not really agree with me.

The food came, and it was a little disappointing based on other reviews. I have been to many places that have fresher fish. I found the rice in the rolls and chirashi way too warm, making the fish really warm as well. I found the tempera okay only, it was too oily for me.

The service was pretty decent, since there was a teapot on our table, we didn't see them unless they took our order, brought food or brought the bill.

Value wise, it seems middle of the road. The lunch specials didn't seem like as good a deal as other places I've been to, but certainly not overpriced.

Inside was mostly nice and the trees were a nice touch. But some tacky decorations around the side and a little wobbly table didn't help.

Probably wouldn't make the trip to come here again.

Good japanese food, great lunch value
Submitted Wednesday, November 19, 2008 - 5:09pm [Dine in]

Had lunch here once and dinner here twice in the last 2 months. The lunch menu are a really good value, but be warned they don't open until 1pm for "lunch".

Fish seems fresh, and their chicken udon noodle soup I found particularly good for lunch. Had their chirasi and I would have to say it is one of the better ones I have had. They actually seem to rotate their specials, and have been happy with their tempera as well as their bbq fish dishes as well.

I would say the value is really there for lunch and not as much for dinner, though certainly not overpriced.

Its nice and clean looking inside. Service was very friendly, but with limited english. Service was good. Will definitely be back again.

Clean restaurant, with relatively fast service. Good if you are in the area and craving relatively cheap chinese food.

Poor slow service with subpar food
Submitted Monday, November 10, 2008 - 11:44am [Dine in]

Had lunch here several days ago on a weekend. Came in, and was seated promptly, there seemed to be only one other table in the restaurant when we entered.

We looked over the menu, and ordered a lunch bento box, and their okoman combo. Then we waited over 30 minutes and they dropped off miso soup for me and my friend. Which was a little strange, since we didn't order any, and it didn't seem to be a sorry we are a little slow, since it was just dropped off and left. Our tea by that time was obviously empty, but the waitress didn't bother to refill it. We had a little button we can press to call the waitress, since we were in a booth and hard to see. I pressed the button and could hear it ring, but no waitress.

The okoman combo came about 15 minutes later, which seemed ok at best, and the fish didn't seem that fresh. then 15 minutes after that, an hour after we ordered, we got our bento box. Strangely enough, every time the waitress came, she didn't bother to take away any dishes that were empty, nor did she refill our tea until i asked specifically. Strange.

Then we noticed that the combo was missing an item, so we asked the waitress, and she disagreed and said the box didn't come with that. So I asked for the menu to show that it did indeed.. then it was brought out. The box itself was unimpressive and didn't taste fresh. The tempura seemed very greasy and the rolls seemed rolled while the rice was still very hot.

The place was new and seemed pretty nice on the inside though.

With the 1 hour wait in a near empty restaurant, the indifferent poor service as well as the mediocre food, I will never be back. Definitely try to avoid.

Good valued vietnamese food
Submitted Monday, October 27, 2008 - 1:39pm [Dine in]

Had lunch here several times in the past. They have a good selection of food, although a limited selection of pho. I would probably not come here just for the pho, but its pretty decent here. I have tried their curries, their spring rolls, pho, their lunch specials which are around $8 as well as their sandwiches which are a good value at under $3. Me and my friend usually come here and get full for under $20 total.

I find the service friendly and prompt. They only have one server but she works hard and always has a smile on her face. Things may get slow in a full house, but I am usually there when its only half full, and the waitress always comes around and refills tea as well as taking away empty plates. Food seems to come out in less than 10 minutes.

Its clean but otherwise nothing special inside.

At this price point, this is probably my favorite asian restaurant. Highly recommended.

Submitted Sunday, October 26, 2008 - 6:09pm [Dine in]

Had lunch here today with a friend. I had that bara chirasi, which was surprisingly good at $10. Lots of fish, and very tasty rice. My friend had a lunch box with udon, tempera and some sushi for $9. Udon was standard, tempera was pretty good with a good amount and the 4 pieces of sushi where fresh and well proportioned. I would have given the value a 5/5 if it hadn't been for the black cod, which was the special of the day. For $7 I was expecting more than one small piece of black cod. In its defense it was good, but seemed strangely expensive relative to the other food we ordered.

Service was standard, but at least the servers seemed to be in a good mood. Food came out quickly, and someone did come around to refill tea.

Everything was clean, but showing its age, with some peeling wallpaper.

Overall I would say it was good, and I would return again, but stick with the lunch specials for the good value.

Had lunch here last weekend, and you order at the front, and seat yourself, along with getting your own tea, napkins, cutlery and bowls. The service was nice, fast and efficient. Although its self-service except for them bringing out the food, I felt for what it is, you get great service. Food was brought out quickly, servers were friendly and they seemed happy to be there.

Value was pretty good, cheaper than the average place if you order their boxes. I like their boxes, and it has more choice than most places, and has a good variety.

It was cleaner than most places, but plain, so I gave it 3* for ambiance just for being so clean.

Food was between average and great. I shared 2 combos. Ihad their teriyaki beef and chicken, which was pretty good. The cold soba noodles were just average. The tempera was above average. Their sushi/sashimi was pretty good, they gave me wild sockeye salmon, which was tasty, although I have to admit their rice was a bit too soft for my liking. Miso soup was good, and their ebi sunomono was huge but average. The rolls were also above average. The highlight of the meal was the deep fried sundae. I thought it was very good and a great value.

I would return again to try out their other food, and order their sundae again.

Cheap and fast Thai
Submitted Friday, September 12, 2008 - 6:52pm [Dine in]

Had lunch here a few times, I have tried the chicken curry, pad thai, as well as some other curries on their lunch specials.

The food itself is only okay. It does not taste authentic at all, and the curry has an extremely small amount of meat in it, that I would just call it vegetarian curry. The pad thai was huge, but mostly tasteless and all noodles.

The Service is pretty good, food always comes out quickly, and they fill up my tea usually before it gets empty. I would say the value is pretty good especially for their lunch specials.

It is pretty clean inside, and looks pretty new.

Recommended only for weekday lunches and if you crave something fast and cheap.

Good Greek in an out of the way place
Submitted Friday, September 12, 2008 - 6:43pm [Dine in]

Came here for dinner on a weekday. The restaurant was completely empty when I entered, but a few other customers trickled in during my meal.

I ordered the Seafood Souvlaki and their appetizer platter. The appetizer plate was huge. The calamari was very good. The pita and others were all good. It was so filling that me and my friend were almost full from just sharing the appetizer. The seafood souvlaki was quite good, the prawns and scallops were well done.

The service was fine, but a little sparse considering we were the only ones there for at least 20 minutes. The waitress kept disappearing for significant periods of time.

It was very clean and new looking inside, and the washrooms were quite clean too. Would definitely come back if craving Greek.

Pretty decent play for ribs
Submitted Friday, September 12, 2008 - 6:01pm [Dine in]

Had dinner here and shared an onion loaf and had a rib sampler plate with 4 types of ribs.

Ribs were pretty good, but the flavors didn't really stand out, and even though I had 4 different types/flavors of ribs on my plate, they tasted similar enough for me to be disappointed, but the ribs itself were tasty. I might just order regular ribs next time I am there. The onion loaf was good, but seems a bit smaller than when I ate at tony roma's a few years ago, but still pretty big.

Service was prompt and friendly, and my drinks were never empty. Food came pretty fast and had the usual checkup about how the food was. Service overall was pretty good.

Everything here looks a little old, but clean, which is the important part.

Might come back again if I want ribs.
