Uncle Fatih's Pizza1685 Broadway East, Vancouver
Will probably be my last time there...
Submitted Sunday, August 26, 2012 - 9:58pm [Dine in]

I have been there a few times and the pizza was pretty good.

Went there late at night and the girl behind the counter was picking her nose. She knew I saw but instead of washing her hands, she wiped her finger on her shirt, grabbed the tongs and awaited my order. I pretended I didn't like any of the types of pizza and walked out hungry.

Overall very good
Submitted Thursday, July 28, 2011 - 7:06pm [Dine in]

Decided to try this restaurant as I am in the area often.
Had the laska soup with mussells and clams, fried rice, spiced pork cheek, and black cod. Everything was nicely cooked and very tasty.
Service was very good too.
Also I thought the prices were quite reasonable. For example the pork cheek dish was only about $7.

Went with a party of 6 and the overall consensus was everyone enjoyed their meal, although not as much as Mortons (which is now closed)
Steaks were nicely cooked and the sides were alright.
Service was so so.
Everyone talks about their cheese toast but it just seemed like the everyday cheese toast people could easily make at home.

Why does every review need a title?
Submitted Saturday, March 6, 2010 - 10:11pm [Dine in]

Went to Cru for about the 3rd time and ordered (party of 3):

Food:
Duck confit with spaetzle, goat cheese, cabbage - soooo good, probably one of my most favourite restaurant meals of all time
Sable fish with kale and pureed cauliflower - sable fish was nice and fresh, kale was nicely sauteed
Fries - nice but could have been a little darker and crispier if left in the fryer for another minute or two
Scallops with barley and some kind of puree - scallops were way undercooked and not seared enough on the outside.
salad - typical restaurant mix with a nice light vinaigrette
Pork tenderloin (smoked) with pork belly - excellent!

Service: Seems like they are usually understaffed. 2 servers for the whole restaurant is not enough when it's full. I know sometimes the manager helps out but it still seems slow. The server I had wasn't great either. I noticed the one from last time I was there working other tables and I remember she was outstanding so I'll still give this restaurant 4 stars for service since she seems to be a constant here.

Paid $48 for food court quality chinese food
Submitted Sunday, December 21, 2008 - 10:14pm [Dine in]

Been there many times and usually the food there usually really good but tonight it was awful, with the exception of one dish.

The fried rice tasted like food court fried rice.... that had been brought home and reheated in the microwave. It had no flavor and had a soggy texture.

The egg foo yung was basicallly just scrambled eggs with a few tiny pieces of crab and peas.

The honey beef however was excellent.

I informed the server about the fried rice but the restaurant didn't seem to care, even though they recognized us as regular customers. I ended up going to McDonalds across the street after.

Nice Place, Average Food
Submitted Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 3:49pm [Dine in]

Went there to celebrate a family dinner and was impressed with everything except the most important part - the food.

It was decent but I guess I would just expecting way more from such a nice place.
Entrees at our table included: Monkfish, Halibut, 2 different pastas, beef carpacio, osso bucco and some others I can't recall. I tried almost every entree and nothing stood out as being great. Most of the entrees needed salt, the monkfish was way overcooked.

Might be a good place for a date in the summer if you sit on the 2nd floor right by the open floor to ceiling windows.

This is an entree??
Submitted Monday, May 21, 2007 - 8:05pm [Dine in]

Went there for lunch and ordered mussels and my wife had the "big salad" (both were under the entree category).
I couldn't believe how small the portion was for the mussels. It was definitely a small appetizer portion.
My wife's salad was a decent size and she ordered shrimp on top for $5 and all they gave her was a small sprinkling of tiny shrimp.
Overall the food tasted not too bad but the portions were just way too small.
I understand the concept of food costs but they should realize that people will not return to their restaurant if they feel ripped off.

Submitted Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 9:34pm [Dine in]

went there and had various dishes which were decent but also ordered a donburi. their idea of japanese donburi is rice with teriaki sauce poured over it. i couldnt take more than 3 bites. our waitress was nice though

good value dim sum
Submitted Saturday, December 16, 2006 - 11:18pm [Dine in]

go there once in a while and the food is consistently good. i find that it ranks up there with some of the more expensive dim sum restaurants.

the only problem once was i asked if there was peanuts in the spring roll and the owner/manager(?) said no but my careful girlfriend checked for me first and there were whole peanuts.
when we told him, he just took it away with no appology. one of the servers told us later that there shouldnt have been any in there, the kitchen probably just had some leftover so they threw them in

super oily
Submitted Saturday, December 16, 2006 - 10:56pm [Dine in]

been here 3x and each time the food was really good tasting but full of oil. last time i was there we took home the leftovers and the next day when i took it out of the fridge there was a small pool of oil in the bottom of the container - yuck!
i like the fried dumplings but the dough could be thinner and less dry.

OVERRATED!
Submitted Saturday, November 18, 2006 - 12:59am [Dine in]

this place has an interesting menu but the kitchen staff cannot deliver. in the 3 times i have been there they have always made basic mistakes in the preparation of the food. for example, the calamari sandwich had extra soggy calamari. ive also had the pleasure of meeting the great international celebrity rob feenie!! jeez the ego of this guy.... not a pleasant person

Submitted Saturday, November 18, 2006 - 12:54am [Dine in]

i have been there many times and always order the cheeseburger. it is without doubt the best burger in vancouver, even better than the one at feenies (i still think feenies is way overrated). havent tried anything else on the menu

rude management
Submitted Friday, November 10, 2006 - 12:02am [Dine in]

food was ok although not good value for the price.
there was a problem at our table and the acting manager on duty, susan, was extrememly rude. maybe if she was more intelligent, she would have understood the situation better and acted more appropriately. calls to her supervisor were unreturned.

Submitted Thursday, November 9, 2006 - 11:52pm [Dine in]

went there and told them that i am severely allergic to peanuts, when they brought my food there were peanuts sprinkled on top. we sent it back and they assured us that it was a new freshly cooked dish (not the old one with the nuts taken off). sure enough i had an allergic reaction and upon digging around, found crumbs of peanuts. some people have severe reactions to peanuts and can die.

the place was dirty and the washrooms disgusting. the food doesnt look good. the only thing that is ok is the pho.
