Good Value for Price
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 1:41pm [Dine in]

I love the lunch specials. I always get the pasta when I'm there for lunch. It's only $4.99 and the portion is comparable to other places that charge $10+. The food is nothing exceptional but it's very cheap and considering what you get for the price, I think it's a great value. Most of the items are $9.99 or below and they're all normal portions. The place is pretty nice and quiet as well so it's a good place to chill to grab a couple of drinks with friends.

Good food but not exactly authentic
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 1:33pm [Dine in]

I'm pretty sure this place is opened by Chinese people so the style they prepare the food in is still very Chinese. I have no complaints about the actual food itself though because it is still good and reasonably priced. I'll still go whenever I'm craving for some Vietnamese and I don't feel like going all the way to Vancouver.

My Favourite White Spot Location
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 1:29pm [Dine in]

The service I've gotten here from many different waiters has consistently been outstanding. They're always upbeat and helpful. I like White Spot as a chain in general but overall, this location has been the best IMO. I've never actually had a meal here that was poorly prepared and it's really nice and cozy.

Good Place to Chill
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 1:25pm [Dine in]

The place is big and roomy although it can be VERY packed at times. The people there are very chill and pretty much let you do whatever you want. Me and my friends have sat there for a couple of hours at a time playing cards. The crispy chicken is VERY good. My only gripe is that the bubbletea is overpriced.

Taco Luis is the only reason I go to Lansdowne Mall!
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 1:22pm [Dine in]

Taco Luis definitely reigns supreme in the food court. The owner is there everyday and he has this crazy, eccentric personality that will kind of weird you out at first but you'll grow to love after. The food is good and super cheap. A 6" burrito, taters (they call it something else but they're taters), and a bottle of water for $3.99!!!!

Better experience at other Sammy J's
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 12:56pm [Dine in]

The food, drinks, and service were just okay. I've had better experiences with other Sammy J. Peppers. I like the one in Burnaby across from Metrotown much better. The lighting in this one was also really weird. It actually was kind of headache-inducing. I couldn't wait to get out of there because of it.

Only go for all-you-can-eat
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 12:51pm [Dine in]

The only reason to go to Richmond Sushi is for the really cheap all-you-can-eat after 9:30pm. I would never go to Richmond Sushi for a regular meal. The food is absolute crap. Given all the other choices in Richmond for Japanese, there are wayyyy better restaurants at around the same prices. I've also found that it's not always very clean either.

Good for Late Night
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 12:37pm [Dine in]

I wouldn't say that No. 9 would be my first choice for Chinese food given the variety of choices in Richmond during the daytime. However, it is a really great place to go with a group for some late night munchies. It has a very extensive menu with both Chinese and Western items and it's all fairly cheap. Don't expect too much with service though as they are very busy and it's a big place.

I'd rather go to McDonald's
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 12:26pm [Dine in]

I have never had a worse restaurant experience than my last time at this Boston Pizza. Let me start with the wait for the food - 45 minutes. We ordered nachos and lasagna. The nachos were similar to really greasy Miss Vickie's chips with some cheese on top. For some reason, unlike the rest of the world, they do not use tortilla chips for their nachos. Meanwhile, my lasagna was comparable to Chef Boyardee and the smoothies we ordered were sooooooo sugary. The only good thing I can say about that experience was that the server was really nice and felt really bad about how long the food was taking. Other than that, AVOID this BP. If it's late at night, and this BP is the only restaurant open, just go to McDonald's. You'll be more satisfied.

Good for Certain Items
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 12:15pm [Dine in]

It's hit or miss with Matsuyama. The first time I went there I really liked it but afterwards, upon trying other menu items, I was disappointed. I loved the spicy tuna sashimi - extremely tender and the sauce they use is really really good. The service there is also pretty exceptional. There is one guy who is always there (I think he might be the manager but I'm just guessing) who is very nice and accommodating. I wouldn't recommend the rolls or the tempura. I didn't think it was possible to do any wrong with tempura (all you do is deep fry is after all) but their tempura is never very good - wayyyy too much batter. However, the sashimi is generally pretty good so if you're in the mood for a light meal Matsuyama can be a good place to go. The decor is simple and nothing fancy but it's really clean and the pricing is reasonable.

Good place for a few drinks
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 12:00pm [Dine in]

I mainly go here for drinks at night with friends when I'm looking for a fairly quiet, tame night. This place is nice because it's not too busy so it's not that loud and there's no drunk obnoxious people. The food is fine but I go here mainly for those fishbowls. Sundays are the best :) as they are on special. The drinks in general though are pretty reasonably priced and the girls there are always pretty friendly.

Great Variety, Great Food, Great Service :)
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 11:55am [Dine in]

I am a repeat customer of this place and I enjoy myself everytime. The food is a fusion of different Asian cultures and it's all made very well. The pricing is also very reasonable. I was most surprised by the service as I generally don't expect too much in terms of service from Asian restaurants but the people there were super friendly and helpful.

Lacking in Service
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 11:51am [Dine in]

I've only been there twice and one was a good experience and one was a terrible experience. The first time I went it was about midnight and there was pretty much nobody there and our waitress happened to know one of the people in our group so it was good. The second time I went there was only one server and she ignored us for most of the time. It took forever just for her to take our order and when it we were finished we sat around for a long time before we could get her attention to get us the bill. She was also very attitudey. The food and pricing is typical of an HK style cafe. The decor is nice with the piano in the middle and what not. Overall, I wouldn't bother with this place again after my last experience.

Ebisu in Richmond8111 Ackroyd Road, #100, Richmond
Never Disappoints
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 11:35am [Dine in]

I've been to this Ebisu multiple times and I've never actually had a bad experience. It's a little pricey considering the portions but in my whole experience I've never had anything there that I didn't like. The oyster motoyaki is not generally what you expect as there is no shell but it is very rich and flavourful. However, I don't generally eat the bread that comes with it. The rolls are all good. I recommend the Volcano roll. It's a deep-fried roll that is topped with chocolate sauce and I know how that sounds but it's really good! The yakisoba, udon, teriyaki, tempura, and all the appetizers I've tried have all been good. I wouldn't recommend getting the boats or any combos for that matter. I always think it's best to just order whatever you want. It'll cost you more but you'll be more satisfied in the end. For dessert, I LOVE the creme brulee cheese cake. It is SOOOO good.
