Sango Japanese Restaurant19800 Lougheed Hwy, #350, Pitt Meadows
Good food but overpriced.
Submitted Friday, December 6, 2013 - 12:06am [Dine in]

I went to Sango's because I felt like Japanese for dinner before seeing a movie and since it's right by Cineplex I thought I may as well try this place out. Well, I'm kind of disappointed because I eat at Japanese restaurants in Maple Ridge area often and although the food was delicious, this place appears to be a lot more expensive than the rest I've been to and the portions given are smaller. The service is really good though.

Delicious brunch!
Submitted Saturday, May 18, 2013 - 4:21pm [Dine in]

Went out for brunch with my friends on a weekday afternoon. The service was really good, no complaints there. I got a pick-a-pancake combo which comes with two pancakes, two eggs, two bacon strips or sausages and hash browns. The food was pretty good, but nothing I couldn't make at home. So for about $12 I could have made more food at home but for a day out with friends it was okay value, there are more expensive restaurants with smaller portions. The pancakes are delicious and I love all the syrups they have to choose from. Would come here again, but not more then twice a year because it's honestly too much to spend on breakfast food you could easily make yourself at home.

Delicious!

Went with friends on a weekday evening for dinner. We ordered two pizzas, the Prosciutto & Arugula and the Salsiccia, split between the four of us which was enough to fill us up. The pizza was delicious and the service was good. I honestly can't think of any negative comments to say... the price is fair, for downtown Vancouver restaurant prices, since usually pizza is split up between two or more people. Would definitely come here again if I were craving pizza while hanging out with friends downtown.

Eh, nothing special.

Went out after my friend's choir concert in Vancouver. My friends raved about the place but didn't seem that special to me.

-It was way too loud inside, hard to hear each other when talking.
-My food was okay but nothing special. Actually I got kind of sick of it and decided to stop eating it because I felt it wasn't seasoned well, tasted very plain.
-The portions are pretty generous. I did notice that the nachos came in a HUGE portion which was nice. My friends loved them, so nachos here are good.
-Price was okay for a bar in Vancouver, but I think I spent too much for food that was pretty plain tasting.

Overall I had a mediocre experience and would have rather spent my money elsewhere.

Great food.

My friends and I came here last night. Had the nachos, hummus, fondu and sangria. The prices aren't bad for Vancouver restaurants and the food is pretty amazing. Nachos were great, loaded with beans, jalapenos and corn with guacomole, sour cream and salsa on the side. The cheese on the nachos was generous and not too dry. The hummus was super garlicy and the best I've ever tasted. Fondu was good, it's hard to mess up chocolate and fruit. Sangria was yummy, had lots of fruits in it. The portions are fairly large, what we ordered was all enough to fill the 5 of us. The music is just a bit too loud though, I had a hard time hearing what my friends were saying and vice versa.

Overall satisfied, would definitely eat here a second time.

Mediocre, not bad but not great either.

Went to Wings last night for dinner with my friends. We shared the "Hat Trick" which comes with a pound of wings, yam fries, cheese bread and dips for $12. It's a good amount of food, but other then the wings which are pretty darn good, the rest of the food was mediocre. We ordered another pound of wings for the four of us to share. I also ordered the spinach salad which was pretty good, but the dressing was a little bit too zesty for my taste. I also ordered the 151 bellini which tasted kind of odd for me. I love bellinis but I don't like the taste with the 151 alcohol. You could definitely taste the alcohol though, they didn't skimp on that which is good. The service was fairly good, only thing that she didn't check up on us or ask if we wanted water for the longest time. All in all though, I was happy, but I'll come here next time when there's a special on chicken wings because that's the only thing I really loved about this place.

Great food, at a pretty good price.. and they give free ice cream at the end!! =D
Submitted Sunday, January 6, 2013 - 9:33pm [Dine in]

There are soooo many sushi restaurants in Maple Ridge... honestly, this town needs more variety. But, sushi is pretty good. This is one of my favourite go-to restaurants for sushi. Last time I was here I had the Umibe roll... really yummy! The service was good, for a big party of about 6 we didn't wait long at all. I love how at the end of the meal they give you free ice cream... they used to offer it up front but now you have to ask. But still, free ice cream is always good, and worth asking for! =)

My favourite place to go for Indian food!
Submitted Sunday, January 6, 2013 - 9:24pm [Dine in]

Oh wow, so I visited Vancouver with my boyfriend from Maple Ridge and I was craving Indian food. Our friends took us to this restaurant, and boy were we ever so pleased! The food was delicious, and very reasonably priced. For $12.95 I got a salad, rice, naan bread and butter chicken. The same goes for all their other dinner platters, they all include rice, naan bread and salad! Which is nice, because in Maple Ridge the restaurants charge over $6 for rice, $2.50 for naan bread and I don't know how much for salad... would have cost us at least $10 more for the same meal! The food was delicious too, very flavourful! I highly recommend this place for anyone who is craving Indian cuisine but does not want to spend a great deal! You can definitely eat a great, filling meal for under $15! Definitely will come here again!

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend after a day of shopping. The food was very tasting, and really, really good portion sizes for the price. We ordered 4 things to share, and that we were extremely full at only $12 for the two of us. We gave a big tip because we just loved the food and were happy with the amount we got for the amount we paid. I was amazed. The service was good as well, and the feel of the place was nice. I will definitely come back!!

It was Valentine's Day, and though I knew it'd be busy... wow I didn't expect it to be that busy! I guess it isn't their fault, but everyone was literally sitting inches away from each other, and tiny tables were set up and as many were squished in to the restaurant as could fit for all the couples. What started off as hopeful (I love Greek food) ended up being very... mediocre unfortunately. Nothing special at all. I had a sea food skewer with rice, potato and Greek salad... everything I could have really made at home. I did end up being full... but for the prices the value of the food was ridiculous. Between the two of us we spent over $50 and we didn't know why!!! The rice was okay, tasted kind of like an instant rice though. They didn't give much seafood on my skewer at all, and the scallops were kind of watery tasting. The Greek salad was probably best part, but it's kind of hard to mess up a salad.

All in all, it was okay food... but DEFINITELY NOT WORTH the $25+ per dish... I'm sorry, but I'm not coming back!! Next time I want Greek food but don't feel like making it at home, I will go to Opa's!!

Came here last night for a friend's birthday, and I felt ripped off. We ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies... wow, it was terrible. For $20 the amount they gave was laughable. The chicken was about the size of the palm of my hand, and I'm a pretty small woman. The "grilled veggies" were two grape tomatoes and a tiny pepper... and the mashed potatoes were about the size of a small tea cup. Really? In addition, I ordered a sangria and I could barely taste any alcohol in it.Thank you Earl's... you made it easy for me to say I'll never come back here again.

I don't remember much from the night I came here unfortunately because I had a bit too much to drink... but from what I do remember it was pretty fun. I loved the Irish dancing, had a blast!!! The bartenders were hilarious and extremely friendly. The value was okay, actually pretty good considering it's in Vancouver which is usually very expensive. If you want to enjoy a drink and have fun with your friends, I definitely recommend this place. Would definitely come again!!

Okay food, but great specials when you come for them.

The food is just okay at this place.. kind of expensive for what they serve, but when you come here for specials, it's really worth it. Ladies... Tuesdays are the best... $2.95 bellinis!!! And they make really, really good bellinis too, best I've had. They have other specials on that day and during the week too, but that has to be my favourite....

The service is pretty good, no complaints there. The feel is really nice, it's a really clean and sophisticated looking place. Definitely a good location to catch up with your friends, or a place to go to dinner on your birthday!!

Really good food, but unfortunately not so great service. =(
Submitted Monday, June 11, 2012 - 8:34pm [Dine in]

The food is really, really good. I've eaten here three times and every time I loved my meal.

The service unfortunately... is not very good. I've been here with my friends for birthdays so I guess it's usually a big group, but I never expect a shorter then an hour wait for my food. I always get an appetizer after I learned the first time. Their cheese bread is really, really good. They also give free bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil for dipping if you don't want to spend money on an appetizer, so it's not too bad. The wait is definitely worth it though, because as I said, the food is delicious.

Another reason why I find the service to be not so great, is because last time the waitress didn't ask what order of pasta we wanted, so automatically assumed EVERYONE wanted large... and guess what, the large costs about $4 more then the small!! Luckily we managed to change our order in time, except for my one friend. I'm glad I didn't get the large size though, because they give more then enough pasta with a small. I was really full, and still had some left overs for lunch the next day!! =)

Finally, the value is actually pretty good, but I find it a bit too expensive. But it's alright, definitely not the worst I've had in comparison to the portions they give. The feel of the place is very quaint and comfy, I think it'd be a good place to go for Valentine's or a family gathering. But again, you have to have patience... the service IS slow, especially on weekends.

I absolutely love the feel of this place. I came here with my boyfriend for the first time, his family loves it here. Their breakfast is really good, but unfortunately it's too fatty for me as I've a sensitive stomach, I ended up getting a horrible stomach ache after. Their dinner I'm fine with, because it's so hard to find a decent veggie burger, but they nailed it!!! The milkshakes are also REALLY delicious!! I highly recommend having a lunch or dinner here, pretty good food in an interesting location. I have come back multiple times, and plan to come back again sometime!

An alright meal if you don't know where else to go.
Submitted Monday, June 11, 2012 - 8:21pm [Dine in]

The food is pretty average. If you aren't a huge fan of burgers then you won't really like this place, as the rest of the menu isn't all that great. I've been here quite a few times because my boyfriend loves this place... honestly, it's okay. It's just your average American food, nothing special. I usually just end up getting Quesadillas which are okay, it's hard to mess up those. The salads I think are wayy too overpriced. More then the burgers usually, which I find odd. The service is good though, I've never had to wait long.

However, there was one experience I had that disappointed me when I did decide to order something different. I got the terryaki bowl and it was really awful. There was WAYYY too much sauce, the rice ended up being soggy. There wasn't much chicken in it at all, so in the end all I had was soggy rice with vegetables. This is why I'm so disappointed in this place. The only thing they're really good at is making burgers!!!

I was craving Japanese food while in downtown one day... saw good reviews for this place... but I did not like this place!! The food is okay, but it's pretty pricey. Doesn't look that way at first, but the portion sizes are pretty small for the amount they charge. The service was okay too.. not great, but the waitress my party had didn't seem to really understand what we wanted, and miscalculated our order at the end. The feel I didn't like, because my friends and I actually were thinking of going to a pub before deciding to go here but we wanted to go to a more relaxed place at the same time. It was surprisingly very loud for a Japanese restaurant. Also, we sat in the back with the big tables, which is literally right in front of the fridge and freezer where they kept the food.. I don't think it's very good to keep the food right in front of customers. Looked pretty cluttered and messy.

Go here if you don't mind spending money on small portions, loud music when you want to talk with friends and sitting beside a fridge. If reeeally like Japanese food, then maybe the taste will be worth it for you.

My favourite place to go when I'm craving Indian food. I will never try cooking my own curry or butter chicken because I'm sure it won't compare. Only reason why I think the value is just ok is because I don't like how you have to buy the rice separately... for an almost extra $7.. How can you eat curry without rice?? The rest of the experience is worth it though. Also, if you come here... you absolutely must try the strawberry cheesecake. Best cheesecake I've ever eaten!! I highly recommend it, if you are wanting a tasty dessert.

I have been coming back here again and again for a few years now. I've been to other sushi restaurants in Maple Ridge, but I've decided I'll never go to another Japanese restaurant in Maple Ridge. The service is good, the place is small but comfy, and though the food is just your generic Japanese food, they have amazing value!
