Best Burrito15 W Broadway, Vancouver
Awful
Submitted Saturday, November 26, 2011 - 8:20pm [Dine in]

I just tried this place for the first time. It is close to my house so I thought I should finally give it a shot. Now I don't really care if a place is "authentic" or not, I just want a good burrito. This place does not have that, not even close. The vegetarian burrito was a disgrace. First off, there is no guacamole in the restaurant and there is an extra charge for sour cream (wtf?). The burrito was seriously lacking. The ingredients are all very low-quality and you don't really get much value for your money. It was a wet and sloppy mess of a burrito that literally fell apart after two bites. Mcdonald's would probably give you a better burrito than here, the only positive is that the guy behind the counter seemed friendly.

Burgoo3 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
Good food, bad service.
Submitted Thursday, July 22, 2010 - 11:17pm [Dine in]

A friend and I decided to hit this Burgoo after a recent trip to Lonsdale Quay. We arrived and we're seated quickly. We ordered our food and drinks, got our drinks fairly quickly, so far so good. Then we waited what was close to 40-45 minutes for our food to arrive. The restaurant was busy, but not overly busy, and we waited what felt like an eternity. We witnessed other tables receive their food in a timely manner, yet we waited and waited. When our food arrived we didn't get any explanation or apology from our waitress. The food was rather good though, so I can't knock the food at all. But the long wait and poor service was off-putting, and I think we will have to visit their Vancouver location in the future and not bother with this one.

Vera's Burger Shack1438 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
not very good
Submitted Saturday, April 24, 2010 - 12:54pm [Dine in]

I noticed a new Vera's open on the Drive and decided to try it out. I waited, waited and waited for my food. I noticed other customers waiting a while and getting somewhat restless with the long wait. I think it took around 20-25 minutes to get a burger and fries. When it arrived, my burger was dry and even though I asked for "the works" they barely put anything in the burger, the yam fries were cold and rather bland. It was somewhat busy in there but noticed only two people working, one taking orders and one preparing the food, which seems a bit odd. When I sat down, I noticed the owner/manager? sitting in the corner constantly glancing over at the poor state of the restaurant and not doing anything about it.

Vera's Burger Shack1030 Davie St., Vancouver
good experience
Submitted Saturday, April 24, 2010 - 12:48pm [Dine in]

I find Vera's can be a bit inconsistent at times, I decided to try the location on Davie and was pleasantly surprised. The burger I ordered came full of all the condiments and the onion rings were very tasty. Like I said, I wish all the Vera's we're a bit more consistent, but I can see myself visiting this location again in the future.

Olympia Pizza & Pasta Restaurant On Denman998 Denman Street, Vancouver
dont waste your time
Submitted Saturday, April 24, 2010 - 12:40pm [Dine in]

Decided to go here with the family one night, and boy was it a mistake. In a partially empty restaurant the service was not very good at all. They did not seem to care about providing to the customers' needs. We had to wait around 15 minutes just for a refill of water. Our experience became even worse when the food arrived. The steak was dry and bland, and the souvlaki was nothing special either.

Babylon Cafe1156 Denman Street, Vancouver
good value
Submitted Saturday, April 24, 2010 - 12:34pm [Dine in]

Small cafe that serves middle-eastern and mediteranean food. We had the falafel sandwich and the chicken shawarma. Both we're great and very filling. I'm usually not a fan of microwaved falafel, but this was very, very good, and the food was prepared in a timely manner. You might want to get it for takeout since there aren't too many places to sit.

Gen Sushi1933 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
great sushi
Submitted Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 12:44am [Dine in]

This place is one of my favourite sushi places in North Van. The sushi is reasonably priced and is fresh! the service can be a bit inconsistent at times, but overall its not too bad. But they are usually VERY fast with bringing you the food.

Earls303 Marine Drive, West Vancouver
overhyped
Submitted Saturday, September 29, 2007 - 12:39am [Dine in]

I've been to this Earl's many times during the last decade, and it seems like it used to be a much better restaurant back in the day. It seems like every time I go their portions seem to get smaller and smaller, and less flavourful.

I don't have a big appetite by any means but the last time I dined here I ordered a sandwich and fries and I was still very hungry afterwards. The sandwich itself looked more like half-of-a sandwich. The server seemed a bit snooty, and took forever with our drinks. My friend also ordered the chocolate sticky pudding which he claimed was rather gross, he compared it to a brownie that was heated up and amothered with hershey's chocolate sauce.

I don't think I'll go back here unless they change something about, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon.
