Go for the chinese not the seafood
Submitted Sunday, May 25, 2008 - 11:20pm [Dine in]

This is a little hole in the wall seafood/Chinese restaurant. It's owned and operated by a husband and wife. (Joe and Tammy) Joe does the cooking and Tammy the serving. They are both really friendly people. Joe will sometimes come out and chat with us if he's not busy at the end of the meal.

Although my family always calls it "Joe's fish and chips" we almost never eat fish and chips there. C-lovers is probably better for that. We almost always get chinese food.

Their coleslaw is yummy, it has more of a lemony dressing instead of a creamy one. The house fried rice is good, (good $ value lots of different things in it) and the Wor wonton soup is a family favourite. Sometimes I'll get the chinese combo as well.

This is NOT a fine dinning restaurant, but if you want decent, cheap food (for a night off cooking) you can get it here.

Have been here for dinner twice. Both times the food has been excellent. Noise level is high during dinner. Decor is interesting. Lots of neat art to look at on the walls.
Service the first time I went was impecable, the second time not as good, but not bad either. Food took a long time to come. They have very tasty cocktails for resonable prices. Interior is so dark its almost hard to read the menu however.
First time I ate the Tofu in a penut coconut sauce. I don't normally eat vegitarian but this looked interesting. WOW was it ever good. Second time I had a lamb curry. It was good too, but the lamb was cooked a bit to much for my tastes. The Tofu was better. I'd recomend it.
I'd definatly come back here again.

Good Food

Went here for a dinner out last year. Food was excellent if a little pricey. (but worth it) Service was great. Place was pretty empty though so atmosphere was lacking. My impression of decor was dark, red, and gold. Was a nice place to go on a date.

Ate here once. Donair was good. Calamari was average. Spanakopita was pretty bad. Tasted like it had been frozen and microwaved. It was soggy. Wouldn't order it again. Might go back and try something else to compare. Staff are friendly and food is served quickly.

Yummy Noodle Box
Submitted Tuesday, March 11, 2008 - 12:33am [Dine in]

Have come here enough times to get my 20th free noodle box. :)
Favourite is the chili plum.
Spice level is inconsistant. I usually order medium mild. Sometimes its too hot for me sometimes I'd like it hotter. The douglas location tends to be milder per spice level. The hotter spice levels tend to lose the good flavours and just burn, so I'd stick around medium if you want a tasty spicy. Also, the Fisgard location usually gives me more sauce which I like.
Service is SLOW for a fast food place but friendly..especially during busy periods. Be prepared to wait, but you can chill out and watch the guys cook at the bar.
Noodle boxes are very tasty and yes..a bit adictive. Good place to bring friends for a fun place to eat. Prices are a bit steep though for noodles and a bit of meat + veggies. Usually around 10 dollars/box.

Pretty Darn Good

Ended up here early for a friends Birthday. Was immediatly encouraged to sit at the bar since the table wasn't prepared yet. Engaged in some very pleasant conversation with a friendly bartender. It was almost torture to have to wait for the rest of the group to show up since the wonderful smells from the kitchen were so mouthwatering. When it did come time to eat the food did not dissapoint! Chicken tandoori was very tasty and prawn massala was awesome. I'm a little wary ordering seafood since I've had some bad prawn dishes before. Lucky this is not the case at the India Bistro. The prawns were perfectly cooked and the sauce was full of flavour. Service was very friendly and relaxed. Would come back again for sure.

Suprisingly Decent
Submitted Monday, March 10, 2008 - 10:53pm [Dine in]

Two of us stopped in here for dinner one night. Did not expect too much since the general ambiance was casual, decor was ok, and the place was almost empty. HOWEVER, the food was suprisingly good. Had Spicy tuna como (Very tasty), ika(squid) tempura (Very tasty, not too chewy), chicken karage (decent) and some very excellent salmon sashimi (wild sockeye). Presentation was lacking. And the service wasn't that great. Had to ask for another napkin and small side dish since the table was only set for one. Also had to ask for more tea. Waiter seemed to ignore us once the food was served.

Would come back again for a causal bite out. Food was pretty resonably priced. The Spicy Tuna combo was about 9 bucks but it would enough for one person (girl) or with a 4 dollar appitezer enough for a guy for dinner.
