Chill Winston3 Alexander St., Vancouver
Great ambiance, slow service, tasty food
Submitted Saturday, April 28, 2007 - 4:09pm [Dine in]

I love the funky ambiance of Chill Winston, from the brick walls and hardwood floors to the candle lighting and the shared restroom. The food is great (except for the hummus pizza...way too salty). When we were there the service was very very slow (but friendly), but they recognized it and gave us some complimentary bread and olives to tide us over.

Kino Cafe Flamenco and Tapas Bar3456 Cambie Street, Vancouver
Worst service ever
Submitted Sunday, October 29, 2006 - 2:58pm [Dine in]

Not only is the menu very limited and the food mediocre, but the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Six of us went there for dinner -- we were there for almost three hours trying to get something to eat. It was impossible to get service; when we did get service, the server couldn't answer any of the questions we had about the menu (didn't know the menu at all). After about an hour wait, another server started to feel sorry for us and offered to bring us nachos while we waited for our meals. By the time she brought the nachos, the first of the six meals were coming out. Four of our six meals were brought out about 15 minutes apart; they brought the wrong meal to one person; and our final two meals never arrived at all. We finally gave up and went to pay our bill and they didn’t even offer us a discount! I will never, ever, ever return to Kino Café. Ever! (And to top it off, they would only accept cash!)

Great spot, but where are the fries?
Submitted Monday, May 1, 2006 - 10:01pm [Dine in]

This is a funky little spot with a cool ambience and good cheap food. The one thing that always confuses me? Why don't they have french fries? Who wants potatoes with their burger? I will definitely be back to X-site but each time I enter the door, I enter with a faint hope that fries may appear on the menu...

High hopes for Pear Tree
Submitted Monday, May 1, 2006 - 9:57pm [Dine in]

I've been to Pear Tree 5 times: 4 times before their reno and 1 time since their reno. The first 4 times were incredible: the atmosphere was so warm and intimate; the food was excellent (nice presentation, high quality ingredients, delicious!); and the service was extremely high class and attentive. My husband and I had named it our favourite restaurant. Unfortunately, the last time we were there (in February), our experience wasn't quite the same -- the servers had divided all of their duties and we seemed to keep being lost in the shuffle (forgot to give us bread; when we asked for it someone brought bread but didn't bring butter because they thought we were asking for our second helping; never filled our water glasses; took forever to place our order). We were SO disappointed but haven't lost hope yet -- we'll give it another try!

Delicious food, great service
Submitted Monday, May 1, 2006 - 9:53pm [Dine in]

I've been to Bombay Bhel four or five times and I've always been really pleased with the service; the menu is great; and the food is delicious. I think they could stand to warm up the ambience a bit (feels a bit sparse), but I will definitely go back to Bombay Bhel again and again.

Anton's Pasta Bar4260 E Hastings Street, Burnaby
Great for take out
Submitted Monday, May 1, 2006 - 9:51pm [Dine in]

Although I wouldn't wait in line for Anton's, I do think they offer a great meal if you're willing to pick it up. Their pasta menu is huge; the food is more than decent; and the prices are reasonable. I like the variety they offer and the food is usually really fresh and flavourful. It's an excellent on-the-run dinner, especially if you're really hungry!

Little Tokyo's Sushi3978A Hastings Street, Burnaby
Best sushi in Burnaby
Submitted Monday, May 1, 2006 - 9:49pm [Dine in]

Although the ambience is a bit lacking, Little Tokyo's menu is large, their food is excellent and best of all: they deliver! This is the type of joint where the employees remember your name and are interested in how you're doing. The sushi is excellent: it's always fresh 'n' tasty; the prices are reasonable; and the delivery is always fast and efficient. It's our favourite sushi place in Burnaby.
