We have been happy and well-fed customers of the India Bistro for many years and would like to echo the praise so many have for this wonderful little gem on Davie Street. The people who own and run this restaurant actually care if you are having a great dining experience! They are kind and helpful, engaging in conversation without being intrusive, and well versed on the history and preparation of the dishes.
Asking a question or specifying preferences will get you exactly what you want to eat. The quality is consistent, regardless of whether it is lunch time at the buffet or an evening dinner party for a birthday party. The staff are very, very pleasant and it is a pleasure to be so warmly received and richly fed in such an interestingly furnished room...
We knew nothing of Indian food or spice before becoming customers and are now very happy to have more knowledge every time we visit.

We had visited Andale's restaurant for years and were appropriately curious when the site was up for sale. After the regular construction delays, we visited the new PitaFresh cafe last weekend after receiving one of their flyers. Imagine our complete surprise to walk into a bright, beautifully clean and well furnished room with a smiling young man at the service desk! From the fireplace and wide screen TV through to the real crockery and cutlery, we were very pleased with the setting. The very pleasant young man serving at the front took a few minutes to explain the operations, detailing the fresh sauces' ingredients, and took our orders as soon as we finished asking a couple of questions. The food was incredibly fresh with beautiful fresh peppers in the salad and the falafel made to order - still crisp and NOT greasy - not at all like the normally microwaved version in many other mediterranean spots. The side sauces were great and both of the hungry men with me were excited by the fries on their chicken dishes being crisp and greaseless and the chicken so tender. We made a point of thanking the chef when she peeped out of the back to see how we were faring... what a nice change from anonymous service.
Walking by the other evening, we stopped to see the place was absolutely packed. Delighted to have such a high-quality spot in the neighbourhood and we look forward to many meals there in the future. And, yes, there is a liquor license for beer and wine.
