Eighties Restaurant110 West 14th St., North Vancouver
An old favorite
Submitted Saturday, April 20, 2013 - 1:09pm [Dine in]

Eighties Restaurant,,, yes it has been around since the early 1980's. Located on the west side of 14th & Lonsdale, in North Vancouver City. The place is an old favorite by many locals as well as some visitors, the food at Eighties is great. Excellent breakfasts, ( all day ) good hamburgers, patty melts, and all around wholesome meals. Every friday night they offer Prime Rib. I had the Prime Rib last night, and it was excellent, it came with mashed potatoes ( gravy ), carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, garlic bread, The vegetables were not over cooked at all, they were great. Also excellent salads also, Eighties has been there around thirty years now, they must be doing something right. I will definitely be back again and again,,,, by Allan Cassidy.

Boathouse Restaurant, The6695 Nelson Avenue, West Vancouver
Good Atmosphere, Ambiance, Lots of room, and a nice Fire place.
Submitted Sunday, March 10, 2013 - 1:18am [Dine in]

I went to the Boathouse Restaurant in Horseshoe Bay, on saturday march 9th 2013. I had a 7 oz sirloin steak, with a lobster tail ( warm bread & whipped garlic butter, to start ) roast potatoes, asparagus spears and a 7up. It was quite good, also if you like lobster, the Boathouse often has a thing called The Lobster Fest, where you can order various lobster items stuffed with crab, ect. Also Lobster Thermidor, and various other items, prawns, crab, prime rib ect. Also the food server was courteous, polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Yes I would return to the Boathouse again, try something a little different ? by Allan Cassidy.

X-Site Grill and Bistro
Submitted Sunday, May 27, 2012 - 1:55am [Dine in]

I heard about X-Site Grill and Bistro from a friend, so I went to check the place out. I arrived just after 5: 00 pm. When I walked in and sat down. It was clean, and the menu had lots to choose from, how ever I chose a cheese burger. It arrived at my table in less then 10 minutes, and was great. This Bistro has a good full menu, with dinner specials, and also a family type atmosphere with many repeat ( regular ) customers. Good prices, and good value,,,, I will be back soon to experience another food item,,,,, reviewed by, Allan Cassidy.

Grace Wok
Submitted Sunday, May 13, 2012 - 1:58am [Take-out]

I went to the '' Grace Wok '' at 636 Queensbury Avenue on saturday, may 12th, 2012, for the first time. It is real plain inside, one small table, really not much there, so I put my food order in,,, about 5 different items. I waited about 20 minutes ( usual ) waiting time. When I got home and opened the containers, the food was hot and actually real good. I will say thumbs up,, The rice, sweet & sour boneless pork, beef & broccolli, pork chow mein, and the spring rolls were very good. Yes,,,,. I would try this place,, not fancy at all,, but good eats, I will be back again, from, Allan Cassidy

Great view of the Marina
Submitted Monday, March 21, 2011 - 2:44am [Dine in]

This place is located right under the ( Iron Workers Memorial Bridge ) '' 2nd Narrows Bridge '' . The food is good, been there many times. This place is great for small or large parties, and the decor inside is large and comfortable, with a few nice TV screens, fire places, and lots of space. In summer the dock is right outside the door. The staff is good, and also great service, I had no problems, how ever the '' Marina Grill '' maybe a little hard to find at first, but worth it.

Doc's Pizza113 W 1 Street, North Vancouver
Mostly a Take Out Place
Submitted Monday, March 21, 2011 - 1:37am [Dine in]

Had a pizza or two, ok ok , maybe a couple more from Doc's Pizza. It is sort of a hidden gem in the lower lonsdale area, a little hard to find at first but worth it. Doc's is a small family type place, but I found the pizza to be great tasting, good value, and good ingredients ,, fresh and a good menu for a small place. Not really an eat in type place , but just a good old '' take out '' eatery. Doc's Pizza , see you soon

A casual night
Submitted Monday, March 21, 2011 - 1:01am [Dine in]

I have been there at least 4 times, and found it just under the radar. What I mean by that is not good, but wait, not real bad either. I first had the pulled pork sandwich, the sauce was blah , soury, I didn't like it. So when and if I visit the place now, no sauce please . I prefer a little salt & pepper , a bit too pricey , other wise not bad. Of coarse there is music ( blues ) playing in the back ground, and a few cool posters, but not my favorite pork place.

Corner Cafe1490 Pemberton Ave, North Vancouver
Down to Earth & Simple / Love It
Submitted Tuesday, February 9, 2010 - 1:37am [Dine in]

Wow, been to the Corner Cafe for breakfast and it was darn good, how-ever it was the decor, the ambiance that really got my attention. When i walked into this Cafe, well it is a true down to earth Cafe as you can get. I felt like i was back in the mid 1950's to early 1960's. It was like an old road side highway cafe you see in old movies and TV shows like The Old Twilight Zone in black & white of coarse. How-ever the Corner Cafe, in my opinion is a colorful , eatery that has that Grand old look about it. The only thing missing was an old Juke Box. Corner Cafe, I guess you have alway's been there where was i,,,, see you soon ! Allan Cassidy

good place
Submitted Saturday, January 23, 2010 - 3:58am [Dine in]

OK, been in North Van, some years now. Yes that ole Pizza shop originally was called '' Pizza Pie Man '' in the mid 1960's. I had that great pizza from time to time. Then it became Jan's Pizza, which i loved also basically the same type of ingredients in a pizza as the'' Pizza Pie Man.'' After many years with Jan at the helm she retired ( we miss you Jan ) Now the beloved pizza place has changed hands again. Hold on, sorry for going on in a pizza history lesson, but that same small place has been there for some 36 plus years now. well it is now '' Raven Pizza ''. Yes i have had a few pizza's from there. Raven Pizza i love your pizza, you do have a good product, and i will be a repeat customer. I Allan wish you much success , but gotta be honest your no Jan's. all the best, Review by Allan Cassidy
