Ninkazu Japanese Restaurant4231 Hazelbridge Way, #205, Richmond
Upgraded from Tomokazu

usually visit Tomokazu in Vancouver but was in Richmond and decided to give Ninkazu a try for dinner. Its basically the same menu as Tomokazu on broadway with the addition of having hot pot. Its a very interesting concept.

Upon entering this restaurant I saw a lot of familiar faces and a very similiar decor. The tables are larger, wider spaces, brighter lights with a deluxe view.

I guess they named this restaurant Ninkazu to be the upgraded brand of Tomokazu with Tomokazu being the low brand and Ninkazu the higher brand. It makes perfect sense because of the expanded menu, larger restaurant, and upgraded service.

The food is generally the same as it is nice and fresh. The sashimi presentation and sushi are excellent. The service to my surprise is definitly and upgrade to the Tomokazu on broadway. The staff in this restaurant are actually more friendly and actually have heart into their service. Much more professional. Overall a very pleasant experience.

I am a fan of all you can Japanese Restaurants and I would have to say that this is one of the worst ones in Richmond. The worst part is that the food was terrible. The rolls kept falling apart. There is so much rice in the cones its like eating a rice ball. I came here so sushi not 80% rice. The gyozas came out cold as did the tempura. The restaurant is nicely renvoated and its not bad. The service was decent but not great. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Not as good as it used to be; Embarassed

I come here for lunch at least once every two weeks and I have noticed lately that Tomokazu isn't good as it used to be. At 10 dollars per person for lunch its still a bargain and the food is still solid. The miso soup comes out cold at times and I have had several cases where the sunomono had no vinegar.

Its nice that they maintained the food but the service isn't very friendly neither is the host. He needs to learn customer service. I wish management would start training the staff better as the service is quite inconsistant. The washrooms are dirty as ever and has graffiti in them.

I do recommend this place but I do not recommend this place if your looking for a quick bite but I do not recommend this place if your in a large group as the service is embarrasing.
