A consistant standby

I've been to Nuba a few times, this location and the one on East 3rd, and the quality is consistantly there. I've had the chicken, falafels, and vegetarian platter, and all were fantastic. The hummus that comes with them I could eat with a spoon, and I always leave here thinking how fresh and healthy the food is. The servers are always nice, not really around too much, but that I dont mind. I like that you can see everybodys feet walking down the street at this location, it makes it a bit different. The prices are good, I would recommend going more for lunch though, the dinner menu doesn't interest me as much, I wish they had the same menu all day. Next time I go back I will be sure to try one of the wraps that my sister swears by.

This is by far the best japanese place in Kitsilano, everyone I refer there says the same thing.

Its always super busy, and for a good reason. The service is great, everyone is super friendly.

Everything I've ever had has been fantastic, and if you go in for lunch they have great specials. Its all super fresh, and of the numerous times I've been there or ordered take-out, I've never had a bad dish.

Another great restaurant on Granville...

I had taken my boyfriend here a couple months ago for brunch, being in the area and there was quite the lineup so figured it was going to be good. Its quite a small space so it's easy to fill up quick, but it's definitely worth the wait. My bf had the bacon and brie frittata, and I had the banana stuffed french toast. They were both heavenly, I dont even really like eggs, but his was one of the best egg dishes I've had, and my french toast I'm dreaming of as we speak. I took the girlfriends there for dinner last night, figuring it would have to be just as good for dinner. All of us left very impressed and I already cant wait to go back for the $8 mussel night. Between us we had the mussels, halibut, stuffed chicken, bacon scallops, and frites. Everything was fantastic, I can't narrow down what the best dish was. The service was pretty good, but I felt that nearing the end of our evening the server kind of just wanted us to leave. The value is very good, and they have great mixed drinks and wines by the glass. Overall, you cant lose with this place whether it be brunch or dinner, I highly recommend.

I had walked by this place on Granville St during the Olympics when I think it first opened, and was very interested to try it because of the menu that looked just like what I had eaten in San Sebastian, Spain. Finally a girlfriend and I made it down there on a recent Friday night, and were incredibly amazed by the great experience we had. Its quite a small little place, but I love to be in a more intimate setting so this was great, and it was packed. They had the World Cup playing on a tv above the bar with stats on the wall, and you could really get the feel like you were in Europe. We started off with a pitcher of their white sangria, which was very good, my friend even said it's the best she's ever had. Then we tackled the menu, which is made up of either share plate tapas or you can order some by the piece, which made it that much easier to try lots! We split a calamari, a grilled shrimp dish, patatas bravas (which were some of the best I've ever had) and then got individual pieces of frittata and some cold tuna thing (my least fav) All were excellent, very authentic, and we were very full afterwards unlike some tapas places. I was shocked to see that our bill only came to $35 each including tip, what a steal! Already we are trying to plan our next trip in there, and I have told everyone I know about this great experience.

bad way to start your Friday night
Submitted Sunday, October 11, 2009 - 4:15pm [Dine in]

Decided to try this restaurant Friday night, as the one beside it we were wanting to go to had way too long a lineup, so why not? It looked busy but we were seated quickly as there were only 2 of us, and most tables were big groups. After finally getting the waitresses attention, we proceeded to order their spring rolls, special chow mein and General Tso chicken. The 2 main dishes came out so far after the other, that the one was basically done before the other one got there. The chow mein was just meh, but the General Tso was excellent, one of the best I have had. It took forever for them to pack up any leftovers, and it was only because I finally waived down a random server to do it, ours couldn't be found the whole night except when she had taken our order. So when we finally left, it took about 10 minutes for the wave of nausea to hit us both. I looked at the takeout menu we had received with our leftovers, and sure enough it certainly didn't say anything about no MSG. I don't know if it was from that or just the food in general, but our Friday night now consisted of far too many trips to the bathroom. It was quite expensive for what you get, the service looked good if you were with a large group, but not for the 2 of us. There were so many little kids running around like they were in a playground, I saw one server almost knock one over at one point. The food was decent, but because of the issues that arose after eating there, I will never be going back again.
