Boot & Sombrero, The4866 Delta Street, Delta
Enjoyable
Submitted Saturday, April 10, 2010 - 5:03pm [Dine in]

We went looking for something different today while in Ladner.
We found The Boot &Sombrero.
It was quiet, but it was about 2pm on a very Saturday afternoon.

First the wait staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful.
We shared the potato skins first which were very good, different from other types. We really enjoyed them. I had a pink toco martini with it and it was great.

I had the Chicken Fajita for my meal and thought it was pretty good. I was jealous of what my partner had. She has the shreded beef echillada which was very good. She had it with some corn bread, which she is still talking about.

I look forward to going back to try their ribs and other smoked goods.

I am glad we found this place.

Dave's Fish & Chips3460 Moncton St., Richmond
Great Fish and Chips
Submitted Sunday, December 27, 2009 - 5:31pm [Dine in]

Had a wonderful meal at Dave's Fish and Chips today. It was very busy, due to the holiday season, but the wait staff handled it with professional ease.
We both had the 2 piece cod and chips. We found the fish fresh and delicate with a nice crisp batter that was not greasy.
My fries were perfect, but my partners were a bit underdone for her liking.

I would come again for sure.

Amazing food
Submitted Wednesday, November 11, 2009 - 6:52pm [Dine in]

We finally had the chance to go to Anatolia's Gate. I can say we will be there many more times.
The food was outstanding. We shared the a small mixed plate, there was not a salad there I did not love.
We wanted to try so many things, but decided to try the Chicken and a Lamb Durum. They were both great, so filling.
The flavour was so good and fresh, the lavish bread was so good. It was so neat to wach him back the bread in the wood oven right in front of you.
The service was good and polite, the ambiance was simple but the food made up for that.
I look forward to go back many more times.

Wings Restaurants & Pubs6879 Kingsway, Burnaby
Not so excited any more.
Submitted Monday, September 7, 2009 - 5:48pm [Dine in]

We finally made it to Wings on Kingsway. I have been to the one downtown and enjoyed it.
However I was sad to see if still looking a lot like Pub Med that use to be there.
The flavour of the wings were good, but why oh why do they batter the wings?? Just something that does not need to be done!
My partner had the stir fry with chicken, she said she would have it again, but the rice was swimming in sauce.
Service was very slow. Considering it was near empty.
I also contacted the manager about the smoking on the enclosed patio. I thought that not ok any more. This part ruined my visit.

Salty and Saucy
Submitted Saturday, August 22, 2009 - 9:51am [Dine in]

My friend suggested we meet here for dinner. I read some reviews and was a bit worried about the service. I must say that part of the dining event was great. The owner was friendly, the server was prompt and friendly as well.
My friend and I both complained about how salty the food was.
I am also so confused as to why mexican places here cover everything is sauce. In Mexico when I lived there, food was simple, sauce or salsa was served on the side.
I had a salty gloppy mess last night. I could not tell one thing from another.

Diner, The4556 West 10th Ave., Vancouver
So sad
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 6:03pm [Dine in]

After having a newspaper review on our fridge for so long for The Diner we finally went. I am a brit by heritage.
Let me start by saying that the man who served us was a true gentleman. So kind and friendly.
However my partners diet coke arrived with lipstick stains on the glass. Then our buns came and both had mold on them.
The fish and chips arrived, they were alright, but nothing special, as this place has been running for 50 years and you think this would be really good.
I was not sure if I was going to write a review as the older gentlemen there were so wonderful I did not want to hurt business. But If I do maybe things will change for the better.

Finally
Submitted Saturday, November 15, 2008 - 10:44pm [Dine in]

After living in Toronto for 10 years, I was so eager to try a Jewish Deli. My friend loved her Corn beef. I enjoyed my matza ball soup, but the rare roast beef on rye was so dry I would not swollow it nor could I finish it. I was disappointed. However I will go back to try some other things on the menu.

Shota Sushi and Grill127 3rd Street East, North Vancouver
all gone, you will be missed
Submitted Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 10:34pm [Dine in]

Shota Sushi and Grill was one of our favourite all you can eat Japanese. It wasn't anything fancy, but we liked it.
When we went at the beginning of Nov 2007, we saw a sign "closed for renevations." So we went back this week. Dec 2008. What we knew as Shota is now called I Love Sushi. They must be new owners, cause every thing had changed. We hated it.
I can not think of one good thing we liked. I am sad and shall morn the lost of our special place.
And am now on the hunt for a new place... as we will never return to I love Sushi, as we hate their sushi!
