Stinky old building with no A/C! It's a freaking oven! With the prices that they charge for food, they could sure buck up and get some A/C. Had a salmon special the other day. The salmon tasted old, and the dressing tasted like pure soy sauce. It was not enjoyable at all. I used to frequent the Lampliter about 10 years ago, and I have fonder memories. I'll give it another shot. Don't disappoint.
This place was great when it opened. Ever since, the level of service, and the food quality has gone down bigtime. MANAGEMENT CHANGE NEEDED BADLY! They're obviouosly hiring kids with no experience to cook. After overcooked pasta, and bland flatbread twice in a row, not going back. Such a shame. It had such potential to be a great new Langley restaurant. I'll head across the road to the olive garden instead.
It's nice to go to a place that knows what it's good at, and what it's not good at. Wendel's is just that. Even though they have a wide variety of foods on the menu, they stay away from the whole burgers, steaks, pork chops thing. That's fine by me. They have a kind of Kitsilano bistro feeling. Lots of healthy items, with tons of flavour. I stopped in for lunch last week, and ordered a sweet potato and black bean wrap. It was perhaps the best wrap i've ever tasted. Constantly new things on the menu, and they even have real italian thin crust pizzas on Friday nights. The service is always friendly, and many of the staff know the regulars by their drink/food preferences and by name. A nice little local place. We frequent Wendels since moving to Bedford Landing. You get what you pay for. ( If you're going to go here, and spend your money- get something other than a soup and sandwich. You can make it at home. everything else on the menu is priced fair, but the sandwiches are a bit overpriced) -they use real meats, mind you...
I've been to Beatniks several times, and it's always been an OKAY experience. The prices are fairly high, and compared to some other places in Fort Langley, I expected the quality of food to be much better. The last time I went, I had a ravioli, which ran me a pretty penny. It was not fresh pasta. It was a suppliers frozen ravioli, in an overpowering sauce. It tasted okay, but not what I expected. Each time, the food has been okay, but I'm still waiting for that menu item that's going to blow me away!
