Blenz Coffee1457 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
there is so much better to be had
Submitted Saturday, August 22, 2009 - 10:21pm [Dine in]

i want to like Blenz but darn, their coffee just isn't very good-nor are their shakes (and i have tried them several times-masochistic, but hope springs and all that) I just dont plan to bother anymore especially as their stuff isn't cheap--and there are sooooooo many better coffee places in North Van!

Vera's Burger Shack1842 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
i like this place a lot
Submitted Tuesday, July 7, 2009 - 3:56pm [Dine in]

I definitely recommend Vera's...she was too far away in West Van so i was glad to see the North Van opening a branch. I recently visited VS with my family and ordered what turned out to be a delicous lamb burger and sweet potato fries...great price, friendly service and i even liked the old fashioned booths. I have no complaints at all and am very glad that Vera's has come to Lonsdale!

JJ Bean House of Coffee333 Brooksbank Ave, #360, North Vancouver
great java and patio
Submitted Tuesday, July 7, 2009 - 3:30pm [Dine in]

This place is now one of my local favs for a muffin (their bran one is huge and delicous but sells out quickly) and a latte with friends...the patio is very nice to sit in as is the indoors by the fire on a chilly day. Service is always pleasant and efficient (tho they do get crowded) and i am so glad they have taken over the Bread Garden that was here-(which was overpriced with bad tasting food)

Thomas Haas Chocolates & Patisserie998 Harbourside, #128, North Vancouver
great goodies but take out a loan...
Submitted Tuesday, July 7, 2009 - 3:22pm [Dine in]

i recently ordered a cake from TH and it was delicious BUT..almost 30 bucks for a cake that barely fed 5 people (and no leftovers) is pretty steep...that being said, it was a beautiful cake and if i get a lot richer i will make this my regular bakery (their chocolates are good too-waaay better than DanielLeChocolat, i have to say.) Just a really nice place--but mighty $$$$ !!

I finally tried this DQ" and yuck-this place has terrible service (one person serving many people VERY slowly while there are 4 people behind the counter doing...what EXACTLY? ) The ice cream was okay but the chocolate covering was bland and inedible..last time i go here (and forget "ambiance"--its loud and sort of dirty)

Bean Around The World2601 Westview Drive, #718, North Vancouver
just a really nice place
Submitted Tuesday, July 7, 2009 - 2:54pm [Dine in]

I have been to this coffee shop quite a few times and i find it to have friendly service, quite decent food, and very good coffee...so if you are in that neck o' the woods, order a java and try some of their good pastries...just a pleasant place to spend an hour with friends(and the only place in Westview to get a good cup of coffee, by the way)

i really want to like this place
Submitted Monday, May 11, 2009 - 1:00pm [Dine in]

..cuz it is soooo cute inside but the cupcakes just don't cut it...they are dry and the frosting is oversweet-and REALLY overpriced to boot...ordered a cake there too-no better. Too bad, it would be nice to have a good cupcake place on the North Shore but this ain't it. (and i would suggest they hire better help too-cranky teens don't cut it either)

Lombardo's Ristorante and Pizzeria970 Smithe St., Vancouver
am i missing something?
Submitted Monday, May 11, 2009 - 12:51pm [Dine in]

I was excited to finally try Lombardo's (the Burrard location) for Mother's Day-and WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.The food was HORRIBLE; greasy, burnt and pretty much inedible (we had 2 pizzas and a calzone between us) 16 dollars for an awful calzone is a pretty darn expensive bunch of dough (in more ways than one) I will NEVER go back. (but yes, the ambiance was nice and so was the server--if that matters)

if you like to pay 9 bucks for a small plate of fries--
Submitted Friday, September 21, 2007 - 11:05pm [Dine in]

then this is the place for you. But I wasn't that impressed. my friend and I went there recently for dinner-had 3 small plates we shared and a drink (one non-alcoholic) each and that was lover 40 bucks..which i found to be WAY too much for too little food (1/2 of which was so spicy i couldn't even eat it) The service was very nice and i can see going for a quick drink but the menu was really limited (and $$$) and the inside not that comfy. I can't see myself going back anytime soon.

Brazza Gelato & Coffee1846 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
great coffee,overpriced (bad) gelato
Submitted Thursday, June 21, 2007 - 10:47pm [Dine in]

This place has great coffee but their gelato is ASTOUNDINGLY overpriced (and NOT worth it, believe me) You pay almost 10 bucks for 2 small little scoops of mediocre gelati. I think the only reason they do well is because (sadly) North Van has no real gelato places (Where is Mondo? Or Amato??) I will be back for a latte but never again for that lousy ice cream...i'd rather go to Baskin Robbins. Far less of a rip-off.

Amato Gelato Cafe78 East 1st Ave, Vancouver
great gelato
Submitted Tuesday, June 19, 2007 - 12:19am [Dine in]

I think this place has the best gelato in town, definitely (and does not serve overpriced, tiny portions like say, Cafe Brazza) I try to go here every time I am in this part of Vancouver-they have a great takeout selection too...I love Amato's!

Bakehouse, The1050 W Queens Rd, North Vancouver
nice place, not so nice server
Submitted Monday, June 18, 2007 - 11:58pm [Dine in]

I went to the Bakehouse for the first time the other day for coffee and takeout pastries for a party. VERY unpleasant person at the cash register (would a smile kill you?) The coffee was fine, the pastries pretty good but she left a bad taste in my mouth..don't know if I will be returning
