Panini Heaven!
Submitted Saturday, July 16, 2011 - 3:53pm [Take-out]

I used to work in a business park really close to Press Cafe. Unfortunately it took me 18 months to discover this little gem. This place is perfect for lunch. The roasted lamb panini is unbelievable. Paninis are always fresh. The baked potato soup is outstanding. And the prices are unreal. Service is quick and friendly. We even used their catering services for a couple of our meetings. They delivered right on time and everyone just raved about the paninis. Really not what you would expect from a cafe in a business park. Highly recommended.

My Favourite New Place for Brunch
Submitted Tuesday, July 5, 2011 - 7:20pm [Dine in]

My friends and I had an awesome brunch here. Sunday morning we showed up about 10 minutes before the restaurant opened and there was already a line up so get there early if you hate waiting!

The food is awesome! It was actually very hard to order because everything looked so good on the menu. I finally decided on the pulled pork eggs benedict. Eggs were poached perfectly. Pulled pork had a nice kick to it. My friend had the crisp pork belly. I had a bite and I will order this next time. And I was surprised how good the coffee was.

Service was informal and very friendly. Wish I didn't live so far but this place is worth the drive from Ladner.

Fine Dining? Really?
Submitted Saturday, July 2, 2011 - 5:38pm [Take-out]

Not sure why it's under this category. This place is just a little bistro in a business complex. Most of the food is microwaved. If that's considered fine dining, you'll love this place.

I've been here about 4 times, only because I work in the complex and was too lazy to walk anywhere else. I've tried the sandwiches here and a couple of curry dishes. Nothing special. Service can be slow. Food not always fresh. Lots of places to eat in Coppersmith/Ironwood plazas ... not sure why anyone would make a special trip here.

Nando's Chicken11380 Steveston Hwy, Richmond
Way Overpriced
Submitted Saturday, July 2, 2011 - 4:56pm [Take-out]

I used to like Nando's but the last few times haven't been great. Perhaps the quality has changed or maybe I'm getting pickier. I mean, at $30 for two people, I am expecting at least a decent meal - not great, but decent.

We got the Variety plate to go. Idiot packing our food put all the chicken (1/2 chicken, 2 kebobs and 4 wings) in this flimsy paper box that didn't close properly. Chicken wasn't tasty and was just sitting in a messy pool of red "sauce". Absolutely disgusting and impossible to eat. Rice tasted a few days old. Only item that was sort of good was the fries. But again, at these prices, good fries does not make up for a crappy meal.

Hate to admit it but I enjoyed the chubby chicken at A&W more than Nando's, and that's not easy to say! Won't be going back. This is the Lower Mainland; we have a lot of choices. Save your hard earned money and skip Nando's.

Afternoon Tea was OK ... I Guess
Submitted Saturday, April 30, 2011 - 6:57pm [Dine in]

I indulge in afternoon tea about once a year only. I usually go to Secret Garden but thought I would give this place a try.

First of all, make a reservation (we did). Saw a lot of people get turned away at the door.

Food was inconsistent. The sandwiches were basic at best. If you like plain ol' luncheon meat or boring cucumber sandwiches then you're in luck. But at $25/person, I expect the sandwich fillings to be a bit more 'gourmet'. Scones were excellent (really warm and fresh!). Sweets were only okay (a couple of the items seemed a bit stale).

The place is decorated quite nicely. Very cute and seems quite clean in there. Service is slow and servers are a bit aloof.

It wasn't a horrible experience but I don't think I'll ever go back.

Maruwa Sushi Japanese Restaurant11300 Steveston Highway, Richmond
Best Spicy Tuna Ever!
Submitted Monday, February 7, 2011 - 1:09pm [Dine in]

I love this place. Sushi is always fresh and the spicy tuna sashimi is to die for. Best I’ve ever had! They were kind enough to make my husband a plate of chicken teriyaki which is not on the menu (the chicken is only available as part of a bento box). The restaurant is actually run by Japanese which is rare in Richmond! A warning though - the restaurant is tiny so it’s best to call ahead to avoid disappointment.

Favourite Pho Restaurant in Richmond
Submitted Friday, February 4, 2011 - 3:29pm [Dine in]

I love this place. Portions are huge and the pho is sooooo tasty! I eat here about once every two weeks. The restaurant is surprisingly very clean. I'm usually very uncomfortable at pho restaurants because most are so dirty. But An Nam is different. It's clean and the servers are quite friendly. Lots of free parking in front and in the back.

Delicious Lebanese Goodness!
Submitted Friday, February 4, 2011 - 11:11am [Dine in]

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. You must must must try Najib’s Special (crispy cauliflower with lemon). So tasty. The duck was also very yummy – it was served with a dried fruit salad (tastes better than it sounds!). My absolute favourite dish at Nuba is the lamb hushwie (sauteed lamb served over hummus). For dessert we had the homemade ice cream. It was light and not too sweet. The only part of the meal I did not enjoy was the Turkish coffee. A little too strong and ‘thick’ for my taste. Other than the coffee, this was an almost perfect meal!

The service was great and the prices are very reasonable. Will be back for sure!

Excellent Food!
Submitted Monday, January 31, 2011 - 11:11am [Dine in]

Dined here for the first time back in December. Meal and service were better than expected. Some reviewers have mentioned bad service here. Our server was very polite and helpful. We were not sure how much food to order but our server helped us. Not outstanding service, but definitely better than most other Asian restaurants.

Food was great! Favourite dish was the marinated beef with soy sauce in pancake. Also had the shredded pork with pancakes. Loved the dish but not enough pancakes. If you like garlic, the tofu pudding in garlic sauce was really tasty. Also had the xlb and a noodle dish. Can't wait to go back to Dinesty again!

Boathouse Restaurant, The8331 River Road, Richmond
not as good as it used to be
Submitted Monday, January 31, 2011 - 10:51am [Dine in]

I used to really enjoy dining at this Boathouse but it's not the same anymore. The hostess was quite rude upon our arrival. When our table was ready, she grabbed the menus, and rather than telling us our table was ready she just looked at us and motioned towards the dining area with her head. Real polite. Onto the food. We ordered the calamari - it was okay, but not great. Definitely not worth $13.99. Also ordered the black pepper scallops. The sauce was rather salty and not that peppery. Mashed potatoes had the strangest texture - really didn't seem like these were made from scratch. Veggies served were green beans and one small sad piece of red pepper (veggies were cold too!). Really disappointed with the meal. Won't be going back any time soon. Their prices definitely do not reflect the qualilty of the food or service.

Mediocre BBQ
Submitted Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 8:12pm [Dine in]

Was excited that a BBQ house opened in Richmond. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I had the brisket, and hubby ordered the baby ribs. If you like fall-off-the-bone ribs, these are not for you. Ribs were extremely dry and tasteless. Doesn't seem like the ribs were smoked as indicated on the menu. Brisket was good, but for some reason it was served with a dry piece of bread which seemed out of place. When I flipped the bread over there was a small piece of tomato stuck to it. Guess they sliced the bread on a dirty counter ... don't even want to think about what else was cross contaminated. Service was pretty bad. Trying to get the server's attention was impossible. Needed a fork but couldn't get anyone's attention so we ended up sharing one fork between the two of us until we finally flagged down one of the servers.

This place doesn't even come close to Memphis Blues. Food is mediocre at best. I've heard people complain that the service at Memphis Blues is bad, but this place is worse.

Surprising for Richmond!
Submitted Friday, May 28, 2010 - 3:13pm [Dine in]

I don't get the bad reviews. I've been here about 6 times now and every single time I've had a great meal! Service is attentive without being annoying. Food is top notch! Sirloin Oscar and Prime Rib are my top picks. Gorgonzola dip is really good too. Place is decorated really nicely (check out the washrooms!). It is a bit on the expensive side, especially for Richmond, but it's totally worth it. Better than the Keg for sure.

Good Food! Service ... not so much
Submitted Tuesday, November 10, 2009 - 3:15pm [Dine in]

Good quality dim sum here. But I have to say the service is horrible. As other reviewers below have mentioned, the hostess does not follow the list and will seat regulars first, even if you have a reservation. If you watch her closely, she actually has two lists going. Better hope you're on the right list or you'll be waiting a while for a table. If you don't mind being put on a "B" list and watching as others get seated before you then this is a great place for dim sum!

Horrible Service!
Submitted Sunday, July 13, 2008 - 11:12am [Dine in]

I've been here three times now and each time I've had horrible service. The food takes forever, and even then it comes out incorrectly. Sometimes the food doesn't come out at all! Owner/manager never takes any responsibility. It's too bad because the food isn't bad and the restaurant is nice and clean. But because of the poor, slow service, I will not return.
