So Much Potential....but
Submitted Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - 4:40pm [Dine in]

The pizza is outstanding. It really is. Also, both of the soups - bean and minestrone, are great tasting, filling, and always arrive piping hot. The panini are okay - but way overpriced - my boyfriend spat his out when I told him that it was $9. He's not a big eater and was still hungry afterwards. (However, 4 days a week he gets the ham & swiss at Tim Hortons, so maybe that reaction needs to be taken with a grain of salt...)

Worse than the prices though are the staff. One in ten are very friendly (I'm pretty sure they're the owners), but without fail I am furious by the time I get my lunch every time. Sometimes they don't understand what you're ordering (even when you're pronouncing it in perfect Italian) or the question that you're asking ("what are the toppings on that one?" should be fairly straight forward). Initially, I thought maybe their english was just not that great, but then as I started paying closer attention, they were really just being rude.

Having said (ranted) all of that - I still am there on a monthly basis for a perfect piece of thin crust pizza and bowl of hot, flavourful minestrone. It's worth the extra dollar or two and putting up with some grouchy staff.

Great Fresh-Tasting Mexican
Submitted Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - 4:01pm [Take-out]

As someone whose lunchtime Mexican experiences are typically limited to Taco Time, this was such a great surprise! I have tried several things on the menu, but faves are the tortilla soup and the burrito salad bowls (chicken and beef are both delicious - I've never tried the pork one though). It's a great deal (bring cash to avoid the $0.50 service fees on cc/debit), great tasting fresh foods (the salad bowl comes with a healthy helping of beans, meat, Mexican rice, and salad) and will keep you full the rest of the day! As for extra guacamole though (if you are a big avocado fan) since they don't put very much on....(and it comes out of a squeeze bottle...which is a little off-putting).

Worth the Trip
Submitted Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - 3:56pm [Dine in]

Working 4-5 blocks away, this is a little longer trip than we normally take for lunch (there are so many delicious lunch spots downtown!) but it's a highly anticipated treat when we do go. The line can be long, but it's worth it. Try the combos - everyone gets the butter chicken (which is great) but some of the veggie curries are also fantastic, as is the saag paneer. Also - GET THE NAAN. They always ask, it's an extra dollar or something, but it's like some kind of hybrid of pita/naan/pancake/garlic bread. It's awesome.
