Had the Pad Thai and Curried Fried Rice
Curried Fried Rice = Great flavors, large chunks of chicken , large portion and a good blend of spice
Pad Thai - The major flavor was sweet. This was a tasty North American version of pad thai.
Overall - Still looking for the real deal for Thai in Vancouver
Food: High end desserts. Beautiful and delicious creations. Artists at work.
My favourite so far has been the lemon tart, raspberry soufle', chocolate croissant and triple chocolate dessert.
Service: Great service. Eventhough you have to line up occasionally the servers are fast and eager to help. Ocassionally Thomas himself comes out to take orders and make suggestions. Small place so most likely you'll have to wait for a seat or eat in the adjacent park.
Value : $5 for an artists creations( Note this is for one small pastry), i'm sold.
Ambiance: Again beautiful desserts diplayed at eye level and the smells of chocolate takes me to heaven and back.
Overall: If you love dessert and appreciate food contruction - Go see Thomas at your earliest convenience.
Food : Finger lickin good. Heavy on flavor and not spice. Good sized portions. Included condiments - sour cream, shaved coconut, tamarind chutney and hot sauce. Note : Butter chicken dish is made with coconut milk instead of milke, but just as good if not better
Service: Small location, probably 9-10 tables. Server attentive.
Value : I'm going to say it has a mediocre value. If you're fine with spending $40-60 for 2, you'll probably have a great meal.
Ambiance: Tastefully filled with African souveneirs. Dunno about the furry stuffed rhino head and displayed award certificates.
Overall: Cute Burnaby spot, a must for foodies.
Have attended this establishment about a dozen times. Consistent strong flavours. Favourite is the soup noodles, curried cumin noodles, peanut noodles and lamb soup.
You're able to peak into the kitchen and it looked clean, I also noticed that the chef was wearing a Chinese-muslim cap. There is a specific region of China that has a muslim populace with unique food preferences. So i'm guess its a unique experience of food in Vancouver
$1.99 for pasta
Yummy mashed potatoes with meatballs & ()berry sauce - killer deals for hungry kids and students.
Cafeteria atmosphere = help yourself, unlimited pop and no tip.
Food doesn't always have to be complicated. Sometimes its all about value.
Thank you IKEA, keep up the good work. I'm sure families with mouths to feed appreciate the effort.
Ordered about half a dozen dishes. They all tasted the same. Too much salt and soya sauce.
Crispy chicken - failure
asaparagus - failure
prawns - failure
chown mein - failure
Not sure if they chef took the day off that day, but it sure looked like the soya sauce and chili flake master was covering.
Tempted by the smell of spices from the restaurant, so we decided to give Atithi a try. Usually mediocre Indian restaurants just smell like grease and onions but this one didn't.
We had the fish curry ( goan?), butter chicken, rice pilaf and naan. Solid flavours, good size portion, great value.
I order spicy fish curry, and it sure tasted like everything was made to order.
Keep up the good work and please don't change your flavors to match the usual indian fare here in Vancouver.
Ambiance - scattered, tv screens and cafeteria tables and chairs.
Prices are comparable to earls or milestones (once you factor in the fries).
Great tasting burger. Mom and pop shop, charming service (red onion for each table after you settle the bill)
Recommended if you just need a good burger. Not recommended, if you're on a date or entertaining friends and family.
I have tried their spankopita, lamb platter and chicken souvlaki. I recommend their food for the value and taste. If you enjoy Stepho's portions, this is your place.
Good takeout, open kitchen and it looks like they prepare the chicken on the grill for each other. Takeout is solid too.
Very popular for the area, so call ahead if you're with a large group.
Good eats.
1st - Don't ask for spicy, they just fill up the wraps with hot sauce. So you pay with the snifles and tears.
I 've been there twice. Tried the shawarma and wrap. The meat did not taste or look fresh and the kitchen did not look clean. The prices are steep and don't match the value. Not recommended.
