Jimmy's Place435 North Road, Coquitlam
Best inexpensive breakast stuff around!!
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 1:43pm [Dine in]

We (especially me) have been going to Jimmy's since I first discovered this great little place several years ago. Early on that particular morning I was on a walkabout, attempting to research my new surroundings. I ended up walking into the Cariboo Shopping Plaza on North Road, and wondered why there seemed to be so many vehicles all parked at one end of the parking lot there. I soon discovered the attraction -- it was Jimmy's Place. I walked in and enjoyed breakfast, and have walked in and done the same a great many times since then!!
It's a great little place, serving up what we think is the best breakfast fare around these parts, and at such affordable prices!! It's semi-cafeteria style -- you order, catch a beverage, and pay, and they bring your meal, cooked the way you wanted it (and there's no greasy kid's stuff here!!), piping hot and tasty to your table.
Friendly place, nice people, and they really know how to do breakfast!!

Nice little restaurant, but the food is only so-so.

We have eaten at this place a few times, and we have very mixed feelings about our experiences there. The restaurant itself is rather nice - small, cozy, and very clean. And all the staff are great - very welcoming and courteous to their customers. But the food seems to lack something, and is priced rather high, in comparison to some of the other small, neighbourhood Japanese restaurants we know and like.
We do usually enjoy the appetizers and small side-dish offerings - they are well-prepared and usually quite tasty. But the 'main' entrees are seldom up to the standards we get and enjoy elsewhere. We find most of dishes to be too "watery" and quite flavourless.
We like the restaurant itself and the staff, but find the food "wanting", and a little too high-priced. Thus, the reason I've rated it and the place lower than I wish I could.

We like it for breakfast.

We often choose this little place for breakfast when we're in New Westminster early in the day for medical appointments. It's just simple neighbourhood cafe, nothing fancy, or pretentious, just decent breakfast stuff, priced inexpensively, and served with prompt and courteous service.

Good fish and chips!!
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 10:57am [Dine in]

We have enjoyed the 'all-you-can-eat' cod fish and chips at C-Lovers for several years now. Always very fresh-tasting fish, and served up nice and hot.
Very crowded over lunch -- we like to get there when it first opens -- that not guarantees getting a table, but getting some of the first "piping hot & fresh" fish & chips from the kitchen!!
Fattening, deep-fried stuff, but once in a while, great lunch fare!!

Okay for lunch.

We did lunch there recently. Very popular place, it sure fills to the brim over lunch hour+. The food and preparation of same, was not anything special, but it was certainly substantial, and overall, we enjoyed our experience there.

Much-enjoyed!!
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 10:01am [Dine in]

We did the Greek 'platter for two' at the Santorini one evening awhile back, and it was great!! This was our first visit to this fine restaurant, and we much-enjoyed our dining experience there.
We had a wonderful feast of Greek delights on our platter, along with a fine Greek salad -- with the big proportions, some of this good stuff just had to come home with us!!
For us, it was good food, well-prepared and presented, good proportions, and in our opinion, priced very fairly.
A great spot!!

Sometimes good, often not.
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 8:29am [Dine in]

We have stayed at the Inn at the Quay several times over the past few years, and during those stays, have always had a lunch, dinner, or two at the Paddlewheeler. We have found the food quality & preparation, and overall service at this place to be very inconsistent. When it's good, we have always enjoyed the offerings and our dining experiences there. But at other times, and I must say, a little too often, everything (food and service) just seems to be lacking, and there's an attitude of "who cares" about it.
Some competition could/might help!!

No thanks, not again!

Our last dining experience at this restaurant will definitely be our last. The buffet spread always appears to have an overwhelming variety -- you caome in and it's "wow, look at all the food", but from our experiences there, one soon finds out that most everything tastes much the same!! It's a rather stunning display of variety -- just wish more of the food that's offered had some real taste and flavour!!
Poor quality and preparation, and highly-overpriced.

We have always enjoyed our experiences at the Burnaby Palace, and dined there several times over the past few years. Good food, well-prepared, and nice people, providing good, and very accommodating service. Great tasting soups!!
Nice "neighbourhood feel" to the place.

Good food, good value!
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 7:26am [Dine in]

We have shopped at Coquitlam Matsuzushi several times (there's a small store attached to the restaurant) and have eaten in the small (somewhat cafeteria-style) restaurant twice. They serve a very good variety of well-prepared and tasty Japanese foods, and at very reasonable prices.
The facility is exceptionally-clean and tidy -- and the ttaff courteous and accommodating.
Great spot for lunch.

Breakfast at the Globe - yum!!
Submitted Monday, October 22, 2007 - 7:05am [Dine in]

We did a mini-trip awhile back and stayed two nights at the Fairmont Airport Hotel. Our room rate included the 'all-you-can-eat' breakfast each morning at the Globe @YVR. We savoured and thoroughly-enjoyed that part of our trip. There was a good variety of cold and hot items, all nicely-presented, very tasty, well-prepared. Along with juices, great coffee or tea.
We could not (and certainly would not) eat that much breakfast each day, but for a special occasion, such as our "weekend away", it was sure good!!
Good service and lovely spot too!!

Like their fish & chips!!
Submitted Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 6:08pm [Dine in]

We enjoy fish and chips, and they do them "good" .. and when we're in town, we always stop in for some!!
A good-sized serving, 'piping hot' to your table, with a great-tasting cold slaw.
We've enjoyed their "take-out" as well, when staying with friends in town, or by ourselves at a nearby hotel.
Inexpensive, good-quality ... nice little place!

Submitted Sunday, October 21, 2007 - 3:36pm [Dine in]

We did a family 'get-together' lunch there a couple of months ago, and came out not very impressed by the experience. We had their burgers, et al - for the (rather high) price, lots of bun, and dry, not tasty meat.
Ate at their former location a few years ago -- seem to remember the food and experience being much better than this recent one.
