Delicious Indian Food
Submitted Sunday, November 1, 2009 - 8:53pm [Dine in]

A little hole in the wall but a real find!
Have been to many Indian resturants in the tri-cities and this one is by far my favorite. Have been to the cozy and clean "Namaste" 4 times and have left satisfied on all occasions.
The menu is extensive and the food (especially the Eggplant Bhartha, vegetable samosas and the butter chicken) is piping hot and mouthwatering.
Servers are friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. Their recommendations have been spot on!
Portion sizes are of good value and having leftovers the next day allow the sauce to sink in more. If possible, even a more savoury meal!

Unbeatable value
Submitted Friday, October 30, 2009 - 11:39pm [Dine in]

Have dined here several times and have always had to wait in the line that snakes outside and down the block. However, I have yet to be disappointed once I am inside Stephos.
The place is packed- and with good reason! Always bustling and noisy but what can you expect with solid food, huge portions, and most plates under $10!
Fairly extensive food menu and a decent drink menu as well. The hummus is a favorite-just the right amount of garlic and the perfect consistency. The souvalaki dishes are a good bet-although the rice is rather bland.
Service is prompt but polite. Looks like the servers hardly have a moment to breathe!
As mentioned, the value is unbeatable. Portion sizes are filling and you cant complain about the cost! Easily dine for $30 (appy and tip included).
Ambiance is lacking any authentic vibe, probably because of the table turnover and the cramped seating.
Have been going to this place for years and recommend checking it out if youre in the neighbourhood

New Twist on Japanese
Submitted Tuesday, October 27, 2009 - 10:18pm [Dine in]

A fairly new Japanese-Western fusion resturant. Haven't heard of another place that serves this kind of cuisine around the Lower Mainland. If you are looking for basic and simple maki this is not the place for you. O Raw Bar put a unexpected and savoury twist on classic rolls.
Definately try a few of the rolls, which include such ingrediants as beans, pineapple, mango, lobster, and angus beef. I had a Tropical Punch roll and was pleasantly suprised with the combo of sweet/savoury taste and crunchy (fried sweet potato)/soft (rice) texture. A friend was equally pleased with the Angus Roll. This resturant jumped aboard the health craze and only use brown and wild rice. They also have an oyster bar!
The elaborate rolls are great value as they are huge and stuffed full of fresh and quality ingrediants. However, the appetizers are on the pricier side (eg, tempura, gyoza) and a few of the meat options looked fairly small for the price.
Service is great. The manager or owner makes a point to stop by and greeted many customers by their first name. The resturant decor and vibe is fresh and simplistic. Japanese decor adds to the ambiance.

Delicious food, great value
Submitted Friday, October 9, 2009 - 11:16pm [Dine in]

The place was packed full of hipsters and alike when 3 others and I arrived at 6:30 for dinner. Charming diner style with a very laid back vibe. Service was only ok, although our server had some solid recommendations which proved to be spot on.
Regardless of the lackluster service, I would definately go back for the large selection and savoury tasting food. We got 4 different things to split amongst us and I loved every single order. The curries were thick and rich with just the right amount of spices, the dressing for the salads were suprisingly tropical, and the pasta with peanut pesto was a creamy twist on a favorite classic. The portions were huge- I went home pleasantly stuffed. Everything is around $10 and you will definately get your moneys worth.

Great Thai!
Submitted Wednesday, June 4, 2008 - 5:30pm [Dine in]

Very impressed with this place. I have recommended Chada Thai (Coquitlam) for great Thai food, but Khunnai is much better and way cheaper!

Have both dined in and ordered take out several times, and food has been consistently great. None of that ketchup-y garbage some other Thai places serve. Great spring rolls and Pad thai. The owner is a personable lady from Thailand. Very small place but she does the best with it and it is clean, decorated and usually busy.

Great Food and only getting better
Submitted Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - 11:56pm [Dine in]

Have been to this place many times and have always enjoyed myself. I found it to be very busy on Fridays and Saturdays so go early. There is also a live bandon these nights and it gets very loud and can be uncomfortable due to the small space.
Service is great and the food is wonderful. Nachos are huge!! Most portion sizes are good value and have a good range of choices. Would recommend the St.James burger and have yet to find a better place for martinis!
I think there are many local regulars as I have seen many servers greet them on a first name basis, which is always a good sign.
Will continue to come here for not only the booze but the food and friendly casual atmosphere.

Very Solid
Submitted Friday, March 7, 2008 - 11:26pm [Dine in]

Nothing exceptional here. Nothing bad but nothing outstanding either. a large selection of different pizzas, breadsticks, appys, salads, etc. a little pricier than other pizza places, although BP does take a fresher spin on a pizza resturant.
Would recommend the thai salad which assaults your tastebuds in a good way. And the garlic twist bread is my favorite.
I have been here many times and have not had a fantastic server (but also not a rude one either). Service is quick, but waiters seem very blase.
Ambiance is bright, clean and fresh. A great place for a quick family dinner or after work to have a drink while watching the game.

Amazing Pizza...and that's about it
Submitted Friday, March 7, 2008 - 11:09pm [Dine in]

Came here on with a party of 4 on a slow Thursday night. Was not expecting much, even though they advertise steak and lobster on their front sign. Decor and furniture were dreadful! Definately needs some major renovations as it brings to mind the word 'dingy'. I think the tables were of the fold out variety!
Our server was cheerful, but I was suprised how long it took for the food to come (about 25 minutes for our appys) even though there were only 2 other couples in the place.

Had homous and deep fried prawn appys, which were pretty good. 2 people ordered pizza and 2 people ordered souvalaki. The pizza was amazing- honestly the best I have ever had!! I prefer over Flying Wedge! Thick but crisp and not too greasy, just perfect! Small (about the size of a large dinner plate) was only $9. However, those who ordered souvalaki were not impressed. Lamb souvalaki was described as "burnt beyond taste", and the rice and potatoes were edible but not good.

They should advertise Golphis as a pizza place (which would also make the shocking decor more understandable) because that is the only thing there I would go back for.

Suprised to read so many negative reviews! Have been there once for lunch and once for dinner and both times were a pleasant experience (both visits month of february) .
so many different variations on pastas! Various noodles (whole wheat, gluten free, etc) and endless sauces and ingrediants. There are other dinner options as well such as chicken, panini, pizza....and in each case the portions are huge. Even with a large appetite you will probably not be able to finish your pasta (much larger than Pasta Polo's portions)! I was left with a delicious left over dinner the following night. I went on a Thursday night and all their martini's were on special for $5!
The decor was modern and fresh and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Service was not slow, in fact it took less than 20 minutes for our meals, and in the meantime they provided us with garlic bread.

Wonderful Little Hole in the Wall
Submitted Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 6:58pm [Dine in]

A very cozy atmosphere, with a loyal following (noticed that the manager knew a lot of customers by name). Have come here a handful of times, and will make this place my go-to greek restuarant. While it is a little loud on the live music nights, the atmosphere is great. Service is always fantastic and on slower nights, the manager comes around and ensures each customer is satisfied. Meals have been consistently good, even if a little heavy on the sauces. Rice is a little lackluster though. Best hummus I have ever had (althu some may find it a bit heavy on the garlic). Good portion sizes relative to price (souvalaki's $16-19).

Worst Service I have Ever had
Submitted Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 6:16pm [Dine in]

I had been there a few times previous with my family. The food was good and the service was decent. However this experience shocked me...

Came in with a party of 4 and After finishing appys our dinners arrived. I had ordered prawn souvalaki ($20- pricy for the amount of food you recieve- 6 small sized shrimp) and instead of the rice and potatoes (which are great) I had a pile of french fries dumped on my plate. We had all ordered souvalaki and without telling us before hand they ran out of potatoes and rice we were suprised with french fries. Our server was unapologetic and we asked to speak with the manager, who said there was nothing she could do and rudely snapped that if we came here for potatoes and rice we could go elsewhere. Myself and others were not paing $18-20 for a skwer of meat/prawns and french fries, so we paid for our appys (no tip obviously) and left.
Rudest and worst service I have ever recieved and still regret not calling and complaining. Too bad the food is good Do not give a resturant like this your business.

Submitted Thursday, February 21, 2008 - 5:54pm [Dine in]

Ordered take out dinner there in Feb/08 consisting of pad thai and spring rolls. Spring rolls were delicious! However, the pad thai was relatively tasteless, even the spicy one with lime on the side lacked the kick it should have had. Large servings for $9. Althu I showed up 10 minutes later than the said pickup time, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes. The interior is small and humble, giving it a more down to earth, authentic feel, which I prefer. Service, if slow, was very friendly and good natured.

Always a good choice
Submitted Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 11:04pm [Dine in]

for a place that serves mainly pasta I was very impressed with the countless choices. The eggplant and scallop rose pasta were very good, and i was astounded by the amount of food (dishes approx $18). Everyone leaving had a take out box and a full stomach! Service was good even though everytime i have been there the place is packed. our server was very helpful and in fact, recommended all of our dishes- which were fantastic!

Bland
Submitted Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 10:57pm [Dine in]

the servers are beautiful, perhaps in an attempt to distract one from the terrible food in front of them. Have been there three times (not by choice), ordered a rice bowl (bland- and cold) and a pasta (sauce was chunky and still v. bland). Not impressed. It seems like the kitchen employees only excel in nachos, as those were decent- but when have nachos and cheese ever been bad? Drinks selection is large and drinks are tasty. If your looking for good food, look elsewhere.

Bad upgrade
Submitted Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 10:51pm [Dine in]

Usually a big fan of Milestones as their service and food is generally great. However, went there early February and was very disappointed. They have changed their menu, and a few key items are either missing (lettuce wraps) or totally downsized (bandera pizza rolls). Basically a bad choice as now we are paying more money for less food and the quality is still the same. $50+ for a dinner for two, no drinks and 1 appy. On the plus side, servers are always great, even on busy weekend nights.

Delicious!
Submitted Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 10:43pm [Dine in]

The amount of food you get for your money is amazing. Choice of carbs, veges, seafood, chicken, and red meat all very affordable. Had grilled asparagus and rosemary and garlic potatoe appys- huge portions, enough for 2 people to share. The tiger prawns were fresh and tasty. Lobster tails for $2 on Mondays but you have to get (I believe) 2 appys and a entree. Alcoholic drinks were priced at about $4/5 for a margarita/martini. Service was not bad, but sporadic (but not that important since the food is such a great deal). Have come back many times! A must try!

One of the best thai places in the lower mainland. Beautiful decor and amazing food. Chef pays attention to details and presentation is very nice. Attentive servers. However, the noodle dishes were around $20 each, expensive for the amount of food you get. regardless of the price, would definately go back again!

Not Authentic
Submitted Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 10:32pm [Dine in]

Have been here on several occasions, both for lunch and dinner. The lunch menu is a great deal with large plates for about $8.00. The spring rolls are delicious; however, the rest of the menu that i have tried is not great. Having tasted real pad thai and pad see yeow in thailand, this food really does not cut it. Their dishes lack spices and they use the same kind of noodle for every dish. I have asked and their pad thai is made with ketchup (you can definately tell). Overall, if youre not picky, the lunch menu is a good deal, and the servers are very accomadating.
