High Expectations Dashed
By Lloyd of N. Vancouver (1 Review)

This restaurant presents as an upper scale dining experience.
therefore expectations are high to match the prices.
The experience fell apart at the inception. Over half the printed menu was unavailable----better to provide a print sheet of availability only until the full menu is completed. No still bottled water was available. The decor is dark and gloomy. The piano music although well played is too loud and at times virtuosic and not as good music should be---a pleasing background to conversation.
The sushi starter plate was excellent however the bass fish main course was served on a cold plate and was bland and unappetizing. For the price charged it should have been perfect and delectable.
There appears to be coordinated effort to provide fancy and artistically laid out plates and while this meets with some success the matter of good, tasty and well prepared food gets overlooked.
Generally a very disappointing and grossly overpriced dining experience.

We tried this gem of a restaurant on Saturday night. Excellent is the only way to describe it. It has only been opened for 3 weeks and was very busy. The decor reminded us of New York upper scale eatery. The food was wonderful, the calamari was delicious my daughter & I shared and there was plently to go round, my husband had a sushi roll and enjoyed every mouthful. Our entrees were Halibut & a Beef for 2 perfectly prepared and presented. The table next to us shared many plates of fresh oysters and they looked outstanding. We will certainly return and make sure we reserve well in advance as this is going to be the place to go!!

my husband and i went in Saturday and the food was fabulous we started out with miso mussel shot and moved to a wonderful mixed greens the pear stuffed with goat cheese ahhh what can i say. My husband had some awesome sushi that I also nibbled at. Our mains the short ribs with the fig jus was awe. the grilled salmon was delectable with the beet horseradish sauce and the for dessert the chocolate four ways was to die for and pomegranate cheese cake was so so nice. If anything the tri cities need a place like this and as a diner in the tri cites We will definitely be repeat business. We seriously cant wait to see what this place will do next.

The Sultri Restaurant was a fabulous experience. We had attentive, and pleasant service, and a true culinary experience. If you love good food, this is the place to go. Each dish was picture perfect, and presented in a most unique and creative way.
The waitress came around with complementary appitizers, which were a welcome surprise, and very tasty.
Both the lamb and pork were marvelous. It seems as though they have put as much care and attention into creating the complex layers of taste each dish has, as they do the presentation.
It is a beautiful, contemporary, white table cloth restaurant, but not pretentious. They had a gentleman who played the piano, which made for a relaxing evening. The food is pricey, but you can tell that it is labour intensive, and the tastes are well worth it. We have waited a long time to have an exceptional restaurant in our local area, and we will definately be back soon.

Just another overpriced restaurant in Port Moody

We dined at Sultri the other night for the first time. We'v noticed the restaurant on our nightly drive home and decided to give it a try even though there has been little hype for the tri-cities locals. The food was nice and the presentation was great but everything is far too expensive. It is expected when dining in the city but when we want a night out close to home, we don't want it to cost a fortune. Two appy's, two martinis and the special for desert rang up at $60 +. People in the burbs are already strapped paying for gas and parking and high housing prices. There won't be much repeat business at these prices and people don't travel to Port Moody for fine dining.

Went for the first time last weekend; a treat for the long-weekend.

Sultri met my relatively high expectations. Was not expecting fast and cheap. This is a place to enjoy unique, tasty food at a leisurely pace, accompanied by attentive service and attention to detail.

The food was delicious and very nicely presented. Extensive wine list; if you order a bottle you can fill your glass to the level desired and, yes, the glasses are large, presumably to complement the bouquet and flavour of the wine.

Since it was a beautiful summer evening, we ate on the outdoor patio, which is a bit less formal than the inside area. Nice to have the choice.

There is enough variety on the menu to provide for different tastes and preferences.

All in all, a very good experience.

Great Food/Usurious Wine Prices

The food was great and the service excellent. The little added touches (canapes before appetizer, chocolate truffle with the coffee, etc.) are appreciated. The ambience will get even better when the decorating is finished. My complaint is focused on the wine prices - they are very inflated! A glass of wine (the usual small restaurant dollop in an oversized wine glass) comes in at $9 to $12 depending on choice. Why not charge reasonable prices and sell more wine?

Thus far I have only tired the Sushi, but it was excellent. The Staff great you warmly, service is prompt and the menu is expanding.

The decor made me feel under dressed, but you become accustomed to quickly. They are still preforming the final touches, but they do not hinder the dining experience. The patio is small, but the view of the mountains is relaxing.

The Bar sits next to a stage and looks tailor made for Special Events, Functions, and Corporate meetings.
