Rozzini's is an Italian and Greek restaurant on the main street of Port Moody. It is a cozy, family run restaurant.
Great variety of Mediterranean menu items. Pizza, souvlaki, steak and lamb dishes. Pasta and seafood too. Big portions, well prepared and fresh. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff.
I was looking for a restaurant in Coquitlam that didn't have a huge lineup out front (not easy on a Saturday night), and I came across this place as I was driving back towards Vancouver. A very pleasant surprise. I will be back for more!
I dined at this rather confused eating establishment on 2 December 2008. It has a rather eclectic theme, some Italian, some Greek with a smattering of East Indian thrown in for good measure!
The ambiance and service are fine (by the way, there is NO problem with the red walls!); the let-down in this place is the food. It is mediocre at best.
I had a very small shrimp cocktail with miniscule shrimps, a decent Greek salad, rather odd-tasting French onion soup and what was supposed to be roast lamb. The lamb was flat-out terrible and was in no way roasted. It tasted more like a very well done lamb stew and was presented thus in a separate container full of juice. A truly disgusting rendition of roast lamb.
The place was cheap but there was really no value because the food was so poor. I would definitely no go back. Better to drive a little further to Pallas Athena in Port Coquitlam and get some truly good Greek food at a slightly higher cost.
My wife and I ate here, today, Oct 20, on a Saturday night. The decor needs some serious attention with deep, heavy red paint everywhere, making it look quite depressing.
The menu has pictures of some of their food in a rather tacky plastic folder. There is much confusion here with what is served. With a name like this, it would point to Italian cuisine, though there are Indian dishes, Greek and Italian served here. It is a family run place, though some of the ingredients are NOT fresh. We observed someone getting cream with their dessert from a pressurized can bought from some grocery store.
The food was OK, though the rice we had with our dishes was not pleasant. It had a bitter taste to it. I question whether the deep fried prawn I had for my main meal was fresh or from the freezer into the deep fryer! The service is pleasant enough though.
We saw some people that wanted to dine here, though they came in the front door took a brief look around and walked out; I applaude them for doing this. Certainly a place we will not be revisiting.
Setting the purpose of our selecting Rozzini's, I went to Rozzini's with a friend to celebrate a great weekend working with a documentary filming shoot. Something new for us. We found that Rozzini's really was a great choice for our somewhat modest budgets. It also provided the slight bit of adventure in allowing us to take a slight stretch in ordering lamb - something not as often found on western plates as it once was.
They took pains to seat customers at tables allowing for discrete conversation and at the same time making the restaurant feel busy but not crowded. There was enough staff to be promptly at service and there was no need even to call them as they seemed to be able to anticipate their need while not hovering or being annoying.
The lighting was subdued enough to create an illusion of intimacy while still allowing the presentation of the food to be appreciated and for me to see my dining companion clearly.
At one time the previous owners at the location had twice the space and I think that the restaurant at the current size works much better.
For it's price range I really did find it outstanding and as I read most of the other reviews wonder if they went to the same restaurant as I went to?
I have also taken advantage of their pizza specials and found them to be tasty and good quality and very competitive in price. When we had them cater an event for two seatings of 40 we found the food to be of good quality as well even though our location was a bit trying. I would chose them again for our events.
I live within 3 blocks of Rozzini's and there are 4 or 5 other places for Italian food or Pizza within 1 km. Within 2 km there are perhaps another 2 or three including at least one other Greek restaurant. They do have competition and I think that I still would choose Rozzini's when I would choose to go out for Greek or Italian in my district with this price range. No hesitation to bringing friends there.
I've been here a few times but will never go back after they did not honor a pizza coupon. I was kind of surprised because the owner and staff were always so nice and friendly that is until I wanted to use a coupon for a few pizzas I was taking out. I was told the coupon does not apply pick-up but this was not mentioned on the coupon.
The interior is dark, similar to the Renzo's restaurant that used to be there.
I liked the Greek pita and the pizza was not bad.
They are located in a strip mall on St Johns....blinking light strips in the windows, can't miss it.
After traveling from the states to visit beautiful BC, we discovered this gem of a restaurant! We stayed for four days and found ourselves eating at Rozzini's every day! The atmosphere and decor is very peaceful and cozy, the menu serves a wide variety of taste buds, the food is absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent! The owner is extremely nice as was the entire staff. Since we don't live too far away, we will be back to British Columbia and will definately be back to Rozzini's!
I brought my 9 year old daughter here with her friends for her birthday. The owners were wonderful and very helpful. The pizza was really good and the crust was just right - not too thick. We also ordered Samosa's as they have added Indian to the menu. They were great and when the owner found out how much I like Indian food, she brought over a small dish of some curried spinach for me to try. Very very pleasant to deal with and they were very helpful with the party. I would recommend this restaurant and the prices are reasonable.
i came here a few years ago on the recommendation from a parent's friend. well, me and my friends (teenagers at the time) had nothing to do on a friday night so we decided to try out this supposedly good restaurant. it was probalby a combination of elevated expectations and the fact that we were teens in a restaurant full of 40+ year olds...but the overall experience was bad.
the food portion was small and fairly tasteless (mind you, i was a teen and my palate wasn't the greatest) and the waiter was impatient with us and tried to worm his way out of honoring a coupon. nice ambience though.
its still around so i assume that some ppl like it, but i won't be back in the next few years or so, if ever.
I have read a couple of negative remarks about Rozzinis and I completely disagree!! I have been there many times and have great things to say. First of all, the owners of Rozzinis have had the restaurant for 14 months being discovered after having numerous and pleasant conversations with the owners. I am a regular customer who visits once a week. I am greeted like a family member, seated and taken care off during my visits. The place has red paint, who cares?? Isn't black or white paint boring??
In defence of the owners, I would like to say that they are doing a wonderful job. They are making new menus and have bought comfortable chairs for customers. SHould we judge owners when we don't know the full story?? The food is great and the owners are presently serving Indian food to accomodate everyone. IS that such a bad thing? People in this area need spicey food as I enjoy on occasional days.
I guarantee you that anyone who dines out at this restaurant will not be able to finish their meals. I have a hard time with the size of the meals, that I have nicely asked the owner to provide less rice and greek salad with my meal.
Regarding the coupon issue, I was first introduced to Rozzinis with a coupon about 9 months ago. THe owners explained to me that they were new owners and that they were entered in the entertainment book without being asked. They did honor the coupon by providing me an appetizer for free. I was disappointed but they were honest and still willing to offer me whatever they could. I have returned to Rozzinis after great service, honesty, food and lovely chats. We should not judge people without knowing the true stories. Please get to know people and learn more about them before making comments because you were not allowed to use your coupon or because you find the plastic menu and red walls a distaste to you.
Our family of four adults has dined at Rozzini's at least four times since we discovered it a couple of months ago and we have turned some of our friends into fans as well. The menu selection is huge and they do an equally good job of the original Greek and Italian choices as they do of the wonderful Indian food that has been added to the menu by the new owners. We find the servers to be delightful, intelligent and helpful when it comes to making choices. The service is very attentive and the food comes quickly. It does not disappoint. The roast lamb is succulent and comes with a very fresh Greek salad, pita bread, tzatziki, rice and Greek roast potato. A medium pizza (many varieties) is more than one person can handle. Their much-ordered butter chicken is less heavy than many and gets its wonderful flavour from careful spicing. We often can't finish everything we've ordered and very happy to have leftovers for another meal.
This is a family run operation that deserves lots of support. It is open for lunch and dinner every day except Monday.
Altogether, food was alright, but needs serious upgrade. When sitting there, feels like you're dining at a very cheap place. Food was alright though, and the server friendly.
If they intend to stay open and make some money, they need to spend some first.
We ate there not too long ago. The guy who owns it helped us and he was very nice and helpfull. I got greak and my husband got lasagna. The lasagna was from a can. ( or so I thought)The food was abit greasy and I would say over priced for the quality. The tiramisu wa great though.
Having been a patron of Rozzini's and enjoying there outstanding pizza, it's a pleasure to have rediscovered this great little restaurant in Port Moody. The new owners have given this establishment the attention it previously lacked. With the addition of Indian cusine and there incredible Ribs its a menu you have to try.
