Rehanah's serves a variety of meat and veggie roti's.
If you want to taste a "real" roti this is the spot. The roti is light and flaky with the channa flour producing the texture that you would expect froma caribbean kitchen. I has the goat roti and the meat was tender, with no fat or bone and very nicely seasoned. Anyone who hasn't tried curry goat should sample a goat roti as a nice introduction. The meat is similar to beef and very tasty when cooked properly as it is at Rehannah's. The roti I have sampled at other places in Vancouver claiming to be caribbean restaurants comes off as a soggy, flavourless pancake next to what you can find at Rehanah's.
The only drawback is that they appear to keep strange hours. We got there at about 3:pm on a Saturday and they were already closing up for the day. Best to call before you go so as not to be disappointed.
I am new to Vancouver and my girlfriend and I are always looking for good places to eat. This time we went to eat at Rehanah’s Roti based on the good reviews that it received. We were not disappointed.
We both ordered Roti (I got chicken & she got goat). The food was great! I big sized Roti filled with nicely seasoned curry. I order hot and the pepper was amazing.
The food came extremely fast. Staff was very pleasant and courteous.
Cannot complain about the price. Inexpensive good food! You cannot go wrong.
Clean on the inside. Décor may need an upgrade and it does not have a lot of seating.
Overall, we would say that it is a good restaurant and it is one of our new favourite places to eat. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for Roti. We got there near the end of their workday so some other items I wanted like Doubles were already sold out.
Only downside is that it is in Port Coquitlam. I wish it were closer so that I could eat it once a week.
I recommend this place 100%
We have been going to Rehanah's for years and It Is truly the the best Roti's and Doubles you could buy anywhere In BC. The servings are generous with big chunks of meat and perfectly spiced. My mouth Is watering just thinking about It. The decor Is simple with only a couple of tables for dining in and the place Is spotless. Rehanah's caters mostly to the take out diner and does not have a bathroom. We have moved to Vancouver Island a while ago and each chance I get I will return for another fabulous roti.
Ms. Khan is a wonder in the kitchen and a beautiful and gratious host to her small restaurant. This place has been a favorite of my girlfriend and myself for years before we each met and I have yet to experience a dish that was not completely satisfying. Try the spicy hot dishes for 'that helping of true soul', to quote Rehanah. The cuts of meat are never grisly or fatty, the dough is as it should be, not crispy from under a heatlamp. Bring cash and a desire to chat if she is not too busy in the kitchen. Thankfully, I live close by and am getting my fix in a few hours..
My Ex introduced me to Rehanah's around 6 years ago. Her Roti's are amazing and perfectly filling. I usually get the chicken-medium spice and I would have to say that this was the best thing that ever came out of that relationship.
(word of advise: medium spicy is spicy enough. I love spice but unless you enjoy redulously spicy food where your eyes are watering, your mouth is on fire and your sweating out of every single facial pore you have and you can no longer taste your food, I would stick to medium-spice. Trust me.)
Very friendly, cozy atmospehre. Check it out ;)
I always order a medium (spice) chicken roti when I make it into Rehanah's and it's always fantasic.
The roti is wrapped around a mixture of chicken curry with potatoes and is more than enough for a filling lunch or dinner.
The chicken pieces are huge and have never been dry or fatty and even though I only order medium spice it's so hot and spicy!
The actually roti wrap is light and slightly chewy, never soggy or dry.
Rehanah is so friendly and must work pretty hard to keep the restaurant running alone.
The restaurant has a few seats and a nice open front so it's nice and bright but there is no bathroom. Rehanah is always pumping out some Trinidadian beats to listen to while you wait and there are a few magazines to read as well.
This is not the kind of place to go on a nice date, unless you take the food out and eat at the lake : o )
It's cash only so don't forget to hit up the bank before stopping in!
I learned about Rehanah from a very close friend that has been going there for years. The food is great and she is very friendly. I recommen the Shrimp and Goat Roti. For those who don't know about Trinidanian food all I can say is just go and try it. You'll love it!
