Namoo sushi is a Japanese restaurant that offers a unique sushi experience.
If you want melt-in-your-mouth-delicious sushi, coupled with excellent service, ambiance, and value, then Namoo Sushi is your restaurant! I'm so impressed with the restaurant that I had to write a review to tell the world!
By way of background, this restaurant underwent a change in management in the summer of 2009, which resulted in entirely new staff. Therefore, the previous negative review for this restaurant is outdated and not applicable.
Allow me to update you on the present state of affairs:
FOOD: 5 Stars. The food is outstanding! It is always very fresh, and made to order. The sushi is melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The Sushi Master at Namoo Sushi is very detail-oriented and doesn't skip a beat when it comes to preparing high-quality sushi. My favorite roll is the Alaska Roll (i.e., a California Roll with a thin piece of smoked salmon on top - YUMMY!!!) The Lunch Boxes and Dinner Boxes are amazing - they are generously filled with a variety of delicious, fresh, healthy food. My husband, who was previously "not a sushi eater" is now a SUSHI LOVER, all because of Namoo Sushi! This restaurant will make anyone LOVE sushi!
SERVICE: 5 Stars. The staff at Namoo Sushi is excellent! They are all so friendly, pleasant, cheerful, and always smiling! :) They speak English very well and they love to please. There are usually a number of servers working at any given time, so service is very fast. I couldn't ask for anything more!
VALUE: 5 Stars. The value at Namoo Sushi is fantastic! The food is excellent and, yet, fairly inexpensive! For example, a Lunch Box is about $10, which is fairly "standard" in terms of price, but the Lunch Box is packed with so much food that the "bang for the buck" is awesome! If you eat there on an empty stomach, you'll certainly leave there feeling full and happy!
AMBIANCE: 5 Stars. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant! The vibe is peaceful and happy - a great space to relax and recharge. The music is relaxing and pleasant. They often play Latin Jazz music, which is very enjoyable to hear, and matches the elegance and sophistication of the restaurant. The decor is what I would describe as "modern Zen" - simple, yet very elegant and classic. There are a number of tables, and about 3 or 4 "private" booths that seat about 4-6 people (if you want a booth, just ask for one). They also have a large table off to the side that can accommodate about 12-16 people, so it's a great place to hold a business party or birthday party. In fact, I've held both a business party and a birthday party at the restaurant, and I was very happy I did - both went very well! There are beautiful/thought-provoking paintings on the walls, and the color scheme of the restaurant is black, red, and white, which happen to be my favorite colors! The restaurant is very clean. Their plates, teacups, and teapots are all new and very stylish. Overall, I love being in the restaurant!
In conclusion, Namoo Sushi is one of Port Moody's gems. I love Namoo Sushi because it exceeds expectations in every regard! All the 5 stars ratings I gave here reflect the consistent high-quality food/service/value/ambiance I've experienced over the numerous (30+) times I've eaten at the restaurant since the summer of 2009. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Had a massive sushi craving today and decided to stop at Sushi California on Lougheed & Austin since it was on my way. It was 11:26 am and as I walked in I noticed a sign that said "open at 11:30 am". So I asked if I could still order something seeing it was 4 minutes early and they said no. Fine then, if they don't want my business (c'mon, 4 minutes????). It wasn't really my first choice to be here but it was en route. So, I left and decided to continue along my commute and ended up trying Namoo Sushi for the first time. I opened the door and was cheerfully greeted by all of the staff. I ordered a spicy salmon roll and california roll. Service was quick, friendly, and the sushi was definitely fresh and tasty. I will definitely come back to this place over others in the area. I am excited to go back and try more, and am glad to find my now "go to" sushi restaurant in this area.
I love Japanese food specially maki rolls. This place, out of maybe the 20 or 30 I've been to all over the lower mainland I would say is in the top 3, perhaps number 1.
I love the food there. The tempura is unique. The service is great, very friendly people. The waiter was very nice even though I made a mistake and tipped less than 10%. I made it up of course on my next visit.
They even gave my kid a little toy when we were heading out. I actually feel good for about an hour or so after visiting this place.
I had to write a review after reading the nasty one below mine.
My wife and I have been to Namoo about 8 times now... So far the service has been excellent every time, the food has always been fresh, fast and tasty...
It's now our regular 'sushi date nite' restaurant...
If your wanting sushi and your in the neighborhood you can't go wrong!
I've tried everything else within 10 kilometers and Namoo beats the competition by far. For the quality and price you simply can't go wrong. Always fresh.
Great miso soup, addictive prawn tempura, fresh salmon/hokkigai/tai/etc, california rolls which don't taste like mayo... the list goes on.
Having eaten in only once I can't rank the service because I was too distracted by the food.
Absolutely amazing... The freshness of their sashimi is incredible! Chef's special rolls are original and tastes delicious at the same time! If you're looking for quality sushi, without a doubt this is THE place to go.
Waitresses & the chef greet you the moment you step in with a welcoming smile. It definitely got my attention and I felt as if I'm their long time customer (today was the first time I've been to this place!). Once you are seated you are never rushed to order! I believe that this place has the potential to make Vancouver's Sushi Dining standards higher, and what surprised me is that I was only in Port Moody.
Comparing the quality of the food and overall service, price of the food is absolutely well priced. Most of the main rolls and dishes are in $10-$20 line. I was a happy customer in the end :)
The moment you walk in you notice the modern interior. While I was waiting for the food I never thought of waiting anxiously for the food, instead, I was enjoying the mood and talking to my friends about the place.
We really like Namoo Sushi. Unlike the other reviewer we find the service always speedy and friendly. The food is consistently good and often outstanding. We chose to take a pair of neophyte sushi eaters here for their first experience and they left very happy indeed. I would happily recommend Namoo Sushi to anyone.
I go here quite often. And i always go back because the food makes up for the lack in service.
Food: Fresh and tasty, big selection and a great variety. The gomae is amazing. The food portions are pretty large, and you always leave feeling full!
Service- Most of the waitresses are not quick to smile, and seem like it is a real chore to work there. I wish they hired some girls that acted like they wanted to be there. The manager Ailen is great and makes up for all the other girls!
Value: Outstanding! great prices.
Ambiance: Not bad, I like the vibe, booth seating is availiable as well as tables.
you really should give it a try!
After reading all the raving reviews about Namoo, we had to try it. I really dont even know where to begin with how disappointed we were with...well...everything.
-they made some sort of an effort at modern decor, although it all seems a little "off" for some reason. (nightclub bar style sushi counter mixed with diner benches for seating?? hmmm)
-wow. I cant remember a single thing that went right with the service. We didn't get plates, our food came out wrong which made the owner get very upset with our server (awkward!) and I believe the most frustrating thing was that it felt like we needed to keep explaining what we wanted to our server....she never seemed to get it.
-I've never had terrible tea at a sushi restaurant before but this was the strangest tea I've ever tasted. It seemed oily for some reason. (SO weird!)
-My ebi sunomono came with stinky, tiny shrimp on top....a pet peeve of mine.
-The sashimi came out as spicy sashimi the first time and then returned to our table in a pile of little pieces (again...strange.).
-the rice was hard and crumbly
-GOOD: The volcano roll was pretty cool. :) We said that if we hadn't ordered the volcano roll, the entire meal would have been depressing. ha ha
Try it if you want, but I'd say it's all a big flop.
