Unfortunate had been told about this pub by a freind, I was dissapointed in the lack of freindly greeting I didnt get when we walked in, staff was far to busy talking to each other and eating to greet us, but you know this I guess happens :(
The food was boxed and prefrozen not bad, but not great pub food like most really great pubs are famous for,
then our server was anything but freindly, maybe having a bad day however not our problem as we went in to get away from our busy day to relax, this is so not what people want or deserve in this day of ( try to get bang for your buck)
The pub is small while it was a newer decor they missed the mark as it was narrow and cold which made our view out into a parking lot not to pleasant, and the view at a less that professional staff uncomfortable,
unfortunate they had the potential to have new clients and blew it :(
This pub and liquor store are part of the redevelopment in the King George Highway/72nd Avenue area of Surrey. (Close to the site of the old Rootin' Tootin' Newton Pub...)
They have been open since St. Patrick's Day. Nice room, two main areas, and a patio. The menu was a bit more extensive than regular pub grub, but not too much. The Other Half had a Southwest chicken wrap with salad, I opted for the benchmark steak sandwich, steak cooked rare. Drinks and food came in good order. The wrap was pronounced a major success, the steak sandwich did not make the grade. Too much Montreal Steak Spice on it, and overdone. It was served on focaccia bread, which was a pleasant change.
The servers seemed perfunctory, and not very interested in conversation. It was the end of the Friday lunch hour rush, so not that busy. Just a disinterest in engaging the client.
Price/value - about standard. On Friday, they do a cod fish and chips special, and that seemed to have been the meal of choice of many patrons.
Even though the name is "Kelly's", there was no overt attempt to be "ye olde Irish", which was refreshing. Clean bathrooms.
We would drop by again if we were in the area. It seems like a place that is just finding its stride...
A friend suggested a Guinness here, and we've been drinking them ever since. Well-poured and the perfect temparature.
The Chicken Caesar Wrap is well balanced and tastes great... I'm also a fan of their Greek Wrap. Same menu as Brewster's and Jack's... but the ambiance is better. 1/2 price appies (best yam fries!) is also a great benefit. I think you can get a burger for a few bucks on one day of the week, but with Vera's two doors down, that's the only day I'll stop in for a burger.
The servers are great and attentive without being annoying.
I found the service to be decent , the staff friendly. The food was O.K nothing to rant an rave over. Prices are fair as far.
My friends and I found it to be cozy, unfortunately we had two drunks at the table beside us singing, an quite poorly at that, harmless enough but annoying.
Management should teach some of their young staff. to cut people off that are clearly hammered . which surprises me because there is a Police station 100ft down the stripe mall when you come out the door.
So make sure you take those taxi's.
The best thing about this place is they have little enclaves where twosomes can sit. Nice friendly pub atmosphere. Only been once and they seemed a little understaffed but our waitress tried her hardest. They have great daily specials here that are quite filling and have a good drink selection at a good price.
Pub with cozy/comfy atmosphere with decent prices for
good pub food and drinks. There's 1/2 price appetizers
everday between 3-6:00 plus daily specials. Find the
daily soups incredible, a meal unto itself, $2 between
3-6. Unlike the previous review I found as a regular
patron the service exceptional expecially the bubbly
personalities of Shawna and Kereith who have been
there since the March opening. They will engage in
conversation with everybody when business is slow.
