Hogan's Restaurant & Lounge serves steak, fish, or seafood dishes and offers a unique wine list. Stop in to taste the new lunch menu or relax on our sun drenched patio. Upscale lounge offers live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings and provides lighter fare lounge menu in the atmosphere of live music.
I have dined at Hogans on several occasions and it amazes me that more people have not discovered this local gem. My job provides the means for me to enjoy just about any dining experience in Greater Vancouver. Still, I live in Port Moody and like to stay and support local enterprises....which can be pretty tough at times given the lack of choices and quality. Hogans is a family run establishment with owner Garry Hogan, his wife, and sons being active in the business. When you first walk in you are greeted warmly and the ambiance immediately sets you at ease. The dining area is quite nice and has the ability to provide an intimate table for two or tables for larger groups. Food is consistently good while the menu itself is pretty varied from the basic to a culinary experience. On my last visit this weekend I asked for the chef to prepare a plate for two surf and turf with some roast veggies. I must say the result was excellent and I appreciate that they will work with patrons to give more options than are on the menu. The wine list is weak but, hey, this is Port Moody. I am sure if you wanted to bring your own vintage they would charge you a corkage fee....bring a decanter too as they dont have these...again, weak on the wine end. The overall service was quite good but needs a bit more maturity and experience which will come. We ended up heading into the lounge after for a glass of port and to listen to the live music. I have on occaison just dropped by to the lounge for the music on weekends. Often, you will catch Gary Hogan and one of his sons playing some great music. Well worth giving Hogans a shot if you like good food and a bit more of a personal experience you wont get at the Boathouse.
Hogan's is a wonderful Continental/Steakhouse tucked away in a corner of sleepy Port Moody village. The decor is modern downtown sheik, and the excellent staff try very hard at providing downtown service.
The lamb is superb as are the salads and all of the appys. Steaks are nicely done if a little on the small size. Hogan's has a good winelist and knowledgeable staff. They also hold the occasional winemakers dinner and have an excellent Sunday Buffet bruch and a nice lounge.
Prices are a little higher and portions a little smaller than we are used to in the burbs but the quality is there and Hogan's is quite reasonable compared to downtown. The Sunday brunch is a great deal. Best quality I've had in a long time.
A good place for a special or romantic occasion, or to impress the mother-in-law. If you live in the tri-cities and are tired of the best food being at the chain restaurants, you should definately give Hogan's a try.
Hogan's is by far the best breakfast experience I've had in the Tri-Cities. The menu is a refreshing change from the standard omelette/benny/waffle choices ... duck hash, anyone? And what a treat to have a side of herbed potato cakes instead of the usual boring hash browns!
The service has been excellent every time we've visited, and the ambiance is perfect for those of us who don't enjoy being crammed in elbow-to-elbow with strangers. Classy but not pretentious; a perfect place to enjoy a high quality breakfast without having to commute to metro Van.
