Went for dinner and it was good value. Saw lunch specials at the table and they seemed SUPER cheap, too bad i'm not in the area at lunch Service and ambiance were just alright. Food was good and would consider coming back considering the value of the meal. My pint was pretty cheap too.
We have been wanting to come in for a long time, but there was never time.
So we dropped in one day lunch time and had the new breakfast menu, we were surpised.
The portion was huge and everything we wanted was there. Based on the price, we would defintely
come here more often.
Especially the omelete my son ordered, omg, was tasty, hearty and totally worth it.
The bottomless coffee made the day was fresh and thick.
I would definitely come back and check out the dinner menu.
Flame Stone is a sister restaurant to Burnaby's X-Site Grill. It's new-ish, so it's not as busy as X-Site yet. They have $6.95 dinner specials during the week. Monday is a 6-oz sirloin, Tuesday is garlic prawns, Wednesday is chicken souvlaki and Thursday is salmon. I think all the specials come with rice, potatoes and salad. I didn't see anything on the menu over $10.
We just moved up the street from the Flame Stone and have been a couple of times now. The food isn't extraordinary but it's solid and great value. We've had the steak special - the meat, while not overly tender, was well-seasoned and cooked exactly as requested. Tonight we went for burgers. I ordered the havarti/bacon burger and my husband ordered the cheddar/bacon/mushroom burger - both were delicious and came with potatoes and a side salad for $6.95.
The service was decent. Quality checks were done, our water was topped up and our server was friendly. There are a couple of TVs, so we could keep an eye on the game too.
Looks like we've found our new neighbourhood spot.
We are (not sure for how much longer) regulars there. We used to go to X-site in Burnaby and then discovered the sister restaurant just a couple blocks away from home. We were so thrilled with the lunch specials and the fact our kids loved the Fetuccine Alfredo that we were paying them a visit every other weekend and recommeding this restaurant to all our friends who live close by. After coming back from holidays, we sadly discovered that they decided to pull out the Lunch specials on Saturdays!! What a dissapointment! Please bring them back! (they still have them M-F if you can make it on weekdays!)
The regular prices are still affordable and the portions are good size (mind the deco but we really don't care about that!) but we just lost what lately had been our only family restaurant!!
When I found out that what I wanted to order was the daily special I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality or portion size, but the souvlaki was great! Definitely never had a better one for the price! Service was attentive, but the atmosphere was lacking something.
Overall it was a really enjoyable experience.
