upon reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews about this place, I gave it a try. How very unfortunate, for my self and for the well being of my family. I ordered a small greek pizza and a 'lunch' size baked lasagna. I honestly do not know how this place still exists with the absolute rubbish I found when i got home. The florescent lighting and generally drab ambience was not note worthy, however I was taking it out, so i guess that didnt matter. I should have followed my gut instincts.
The baked lasagna was, indeed, very large. The top layer was covered in a generous portion of cheese, everything underneath was the cheese was boring and unoriginal, additionally, everything had a vauge taste of chef boyardee. I suppose some people actually like that taste... i simply dont understand it.
The pizza, a small greek, was just too greasy. The general taste was awful, the crust was low quality, and beef which was inside was far to seasoned. in general it could only be acceptable if one was completely wasted.
I give this place a fail, do not go here.
I feel kind of bad, because after all they are not a major corporation like pizza hut (even pizza hut is better) or boston pizza (probably your best option...how sad is that..)
My husband and I have been ordering from Basil's now for a yaar and whenever we think we want to try a new take-out retaurant, we always change our minds and go back to what we love! They have great pizzas, try the Basil's Classic, and their souvlaki dinner is a huge portion of authentic greek cuisine. it is only $12.95 and the quality is great :) This is not a dine-in restaurant, take-out and delivery only. Well worth it!
I have been going her ever since I moved to Port Moody. I found out about it trought my friends dad and when I when the first time I feel in love the pizza. The food and service is always amazing, quick and delicious! I love the cheese pizza and the mediteranian. This is great pizza for a great price. It's a number that's worth having on your speed dial!
Basil's knows my friends and I by now. The food is an addiction that can't be substituted. Their baked lasagna is so delicious, and for a huge lunch size one, it is like $7, and for a dinner size one which is about a half size bigger or so than the lunch size its $8. And they both come with large pieces of garlic bread. It's an awesome place. There are only bar stools to sit at, and it looks a little run down except it tastes so great. Their greek salad and tzatziki and pita bread are so fresh also, and the dressing on the greek salad is honestly the best dressing I have ever tried at a Greek place. They also have souvlak although I have not tried it yet (the baked lasagna gets me everytime). This is just a great place.
