KC Cafe is where I head often on weekends for late breakfasts or lunches. Very good food, great prices, tons of options and just a genuine great atmosphere largely due to the owner (whom serves/runs the front) knows people by names and stays to chat plus like previously mentioned....is very nice to look at haha :)
Have been ordering here for a couple years now!
Will deliver, but is much faster to pick it up!
Tuesday and Wednesday specials...mediums for price of smalls, large for price of mediums..etc.
Lots of toppings, lots of cheese, thicker crust, but really good!
Busy place...the guy who runs it is really nice, but can be short when he's busy! Don't take it personally!
Highly reccommend it!!!
Have been ordering here for 6+ years! Hated giving him our $$$
Foods good, but at times inconsistent!
Are always shorted on "sauces"...no plum sauce for egg rolls, no soya s. etc...
Have had to wait to get food as they mixed up orders...
So "Happy" to have found a great Chinese place in PoCo! We tried many, finally found another one, "Happy" to give them our $$$
Just ordered tonight! Excellent food, but just as nice to get great serice!
Have been ordering from another Chinese Rest. for over 6+ years! Terrible service and cranky owner...hated giving him our money!!
Our friend suggested this place, and it was great! Lots of meat in the house special fried rice, VERY good dried ribs (bone in)...everything else was great!
Highly reccommend trying it!
Went for lunch at Sushi Shelter due to the great ratings on here. I am glad I went. The place was not busy at all and my friend and I got a table quickly. I had the sashimi salad lunch special and my friend had the Sushi Shelter Roll lunch special. Each special came with tempera chips, 2 pieces of calamari, 2 pieces of salmon type roll, a potato croquette, and fruits. I also ordered the torpedo roll (smoke salmon, tempera shrimp, tataki tuna) which is really delicious . The sashimi salad was really yummy. Big portion all around. They don't cheap out on anything. The total was around $34. A pretty good deal for all the food we had.
We have lived in Port Coquitlam for 15 years and we have eaten at almost every restaurant in Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam. We first tried Sang Thai about 6 months ago and were quite impressed with the higher end decor (for a Port Coquitlam restaurant) and we found the food was delicious and the lunch specials were a good bargain at around $8 or $9. The dinner menu was quite extensive and the food was also very good but the prices for dinner and quantity of food were not nearly as good a bargain as for the lunch specials so we generally only went for lunch. Over the past 6 months we had lunch at Sang Thai about 6 or 7 times and always came away impressed with the quality of food and the prices.
We were in a pinch 2 weeks ago and ordered take out dinner from Sang Thai, we ordered the Pad Thai, Green Curry, and 2 salad rolls. The quantity of food was much larger now in the take out containers and the food was just as delicious as when when we first ordered 6 months ago but we still found it a little bit expensive. On the way out 2 weeks ago we picked up their new special combo menu and noted that they have for eat in, take out, or delivery a choice of about 30 items where you can choose 3 items for $20 (or 4 items for $26). We tried it tonight and ordered for take out the chicken chow mein ( I know it is not Thai but it was still excellent), chicken red curry, and tofu with chilli garlic sauce and beef. For the chow mein they even put the sauce, meat, and vegetables in a container separate from the fried noodles so the fried noodles would be crispy when we got home. We got home and opened it up and for $20 they give you very big portions and the food was fresh and delicious! My wife and I commented that for what we got tonight for $20 we could probably barely buy all the ingredients for $20, never mind making it, and never mind having it taste delicious. Sang Thai with their new special combo menu is a screaming bargain!!
Seems like all I've been eating is gelato these days! I went to Matteo's because I heard it was the next best thing to gelato in Italy. To by honest, I've never been to Italy but I'm sure the gelato is mind blowingly good. So I was excited to try Matteo's and it was... Nice. I was a bit disappointed about their lack of variety but it is winter and not everybody is seeking cold icy desserts! The gelato tasted good and I have no complaints but I didn't think it was all that special either. Comparable to cumparis on north road. Maybe I'm just not a gelato connoisseur!
We went here for the first time for dim sum on the weekend. The place looked old and smelled kind of musty. We were seated in the middle of the hallway. We ordered steamed shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, spareibs, & fried radish cake. The only dish that tasted like normal dim sum were the pork dumplings. Everything else did not taste like it should have. The worst dish was the steamed shrimp dumplilngs (ha gow). It was horrendous as smelled fishy, had a bad consistency, did not have a straight shrimp filling but tasted like a mixed filling of something, the rice coverering fell apart and did not taste good either. Dim sum should be piping hot and these dishes were not. There are so many excellent dim sum places elsewhere so we definitely will NOT be returning here even if their plates of dim sum were only $2.75 each.
Great garlic hummous and chicken rice plate. Filling too. I crave this regularly. I find he plate better than the simple donair. The hot sauce is not hot in any way....more like tomato sauce.
They ask if you want cheese (crushed feta) on your food, it costs extra FYI.
The staff are grumpy and seem to be bothered that you are there ordering, but I think it is just them. I commented that I love the food and got a smile and short convo from the donair nazi one time.
Great food!! Follow the sauce menu for the best flavours. I recommend the curry combination. It has improved over the past while for cleanliness as mentioned in previous posts. Try this place and you won't be dissappointed.
Tip - go before 4pm for dinner as the price is higher after that. Lunch is the same $$ as before 4pm. One bowl filled is more than enough for a big eater, all you can eat is not needed.
Both pizza's were ordered with 4 toppings each.
One did have black olives, the other for my teenage daughter definitely not!!!
She ended up with black olives in her pizza too, it was extremely disappointing, to say the least.
The wait was a long one too. It was not busy there when we decided to drive there, order our pizza's and wait.
Wouldn't have minded the wait so much, if the pizza's were specifically what we ordered.
This is the second time something like this happened ordering pizza here, am thinking probably
the last time.
They claim to be Japanese restaurant buts erve crunchy dishes in Korean style and sweet and sour tastes in Chinese style. The place is nothing special and just average, but toilet definitely needs some work. Service is OK, the old lady is not impolite but it is very slow. Be prepared to wait even though the place is empty.
It is neitehr high quality or fast so I do not understand.
while looking for a nearby sushi place from my cousin's house, me and my cousin came across a gorgeous japanese restaurant last night. this place is hidden at the corner of Mary hill and Wilson ave but you can easily find asahi between donaire store and seveneleven. we were seated right after we got into the restaurant and served very nicely. the place was really cozy and i liked a vibe in the store. there were some tables and rooms designated for the group of people and sushi bar for people dining alone. we went there with empty stomach so we ordered lots- spicy tuna roll, kamikaze roll, hamburger roll, some nigiri sushi and korean style bbq. most of the food we ordered were fairly good and what i really enjoyed was kamikaze roll. i don't know what's inside but it was like a combination of prawns, yam fries and special sauce. anyway i don't live around poco but i would definitely visit here again if there's any chance!! the relaxed ambience of this place and kind service will satisfy you so i highly recommend you to go there sometime this week for dinner or maybe lunch!!! <3
i go to this place usually. i guess guys who make sushi are brothers lol
they look same to me kinda.. the food is awesome
also good mood and serviece is excellent,
and they also deliver the food. once they recognize ur face, their service will be better,
also the price is pretty normal, 10 dollars gives you a lot.
I don't like to write reviews, I only like to eat good food, so for me to write one means that it was something beyond anything I've ever had.
I went to Sushi Shelter 101 last Wednesday night with friends and I think I'm going to have to go there at least once a week now.
I've travelled a lot and have eaten real Japanese cuisine before, but Sushi Shelter 101 just blew my palate away.
The presentation of the food was amazing, I've never seen sushi presented this way that didn't cost at least $20 a plate. My friends and I are adventurous eaters and we wanted to try something different, so the Snoopy Roll definitely peaked our interest. It was basically a California Roll with peanut sauce, it sounds sooo strange but man was it so tasty!
My favourite of the night was probably the Assorted Tempura, I didn't know that an order of tempura could be so big, and the Bumblebee Roll.
Service was good, friendly, efficient and on the spot. The waitress always knew when we wanted more water or tea, and she always had a smile on her face, which was nice.
My one and only complaint was that I didn't bring my camera, and that I could only eat so much. Next time I'm definitely bringing my DSLR and an extremely empty stomach.
We order samosas here regularly. Finest we have ever had. Very tasty and not at all oily or greasy.
Always made fresh. One can eat 2-3 easily at one shot as they do not feel heavy or spicy.
Also we order Palak Paneer and Dal Makhani regularly, and the taste beats any India restaurant in town.
Even Shahi paneer is good. Very homely food. Not like those fancy restaurants that dump too much butter and grease.
Also the Quantity is very good. It works great for a family in times when you are too tired to cook or want to taste something from outside. Reasonable price and Delicious food.
I went Asahi yesterday to celerbrate my 20th birthday.
Food was sooooooooooooooo nice and I enjoyed.
I reserved the room by caliing.
If you want to celebrate w your friends without any interruption,
I highly recomand this way.
Foods were very nice too. I just came to Canada last year from Japan,
and I think this place is the BEST SUSHI ROLLS resturant that I ever go!
(one of my friend says Canadian sushi is better than Japanese sushi LOLLLL)
especially, I recomand Crunch Roll, it was soooooo nice sources are sweet/and sour
so the crispies melt in ma mouse like a snow!
Servers always smile all the time ( I m sorry that we bother you guys too much :D)!
If I could come back to Canada, I want to go there again!
Thank you for the GREAT memories!
I have gone to this place before and had decent food, so when I had out of town visitors I reserved two tables for my family. Some dish was salty, others had no salt giving no taste. The next day I did a check on my ordered dishes and discovered they over charge me by $126. Not only do they produce bad foods, but you will need to check your bill before you pay
Do not go here..there are many better restaurant in area.
We ususally come here twice a year and always with an entertainment coupon. I like that fact that it has classier looking decor than most Greek restaurants. The staff is friendly and the food is good.
I really like the spanikopita here. It is very tasty and not greasy. The pita bread is fantastic but a little over priced I think for extra. Souvlakis are good, salads, Greek and Caesar among some of the best. Potatoes are ok. The only criticism is that for a Greek restaurant the portions are somewhat small. I don't really want huge portions but for the same price as other places there really aren't any leftovers, even the rice serving is a scant 1/2 cup.
Despite this with the coupon it's a nice dinner out.
I have been here a few times and have tried some of their combo specials, appetizers, and special rolls. The portions are big and well worth what you pay for, which is probably why I keep coming back. The freshness of the raw fish and seafood is decent. The quality of the food is good for the price you pay. The waitress (also probably the owner) was nice and asked us how everything tasted and if we needed anything else politely. The decor of the place is pleasant and it seems like they put a lot of money and effort into decorating the place so it looks like an authentic japanese restaurant.
They have free delivery (for north poco) if you order more than $25 and if you pick up a $25+ order you get free gyoza and edamame. They have some really good $10 or less combos, which are only posted on the restaurant windows. They have a large selection of special rolls (15+).
