Too Expensive for what you get

Went on a hot sunny Saturday night. We walked right in and got a booth on the patio at 7 pm. I think that says alot. I remember when you used to have to wait an hour or more to sit anywhere at an Earls, especially on a Saturday night.

Waitresses were from the robotic "little black dress" store that cactus club, etc shops for their waitresses too. No personality in any of them. Plastic.

Had an artichoke dip that was served with toasty things and was pretty good but small. They did offer more toasty things though we didn't need them as the dip serving was small for over $10. Beer was very expensive at over $7.50. Wine was not well priced either.

Had a seafood pasta with very miniscule pieces of crab and seafood. It was over $19 - just too much for pasta.

Can't even remember what my partner had as it was not memorable to me or him. He did think it was overpriced as well. Got out for just under $140. Basically a waste of money. I could have prepared the same meal and drinks at home for about $25. I don't plan on a return,

This building has been here ever since I can remember. Previously Skylar Court, now Ruby Restaurant.

We drop in to Ruby restaurant once in awhile because my in-laws like it, and it's close to their home.

Food prices here are cheaper than most (dim sum is $2.95 while most are $3.25+) and they don't charge for tea. The restaurant is quite old and dated, but clean. It's family run by a friendly couple.

Food quality can be iffy. As most commented, the shrimp dumplings (ha gow) are pretty much store bought and steamed, same as a pork dumplings. You'd find the same at T&T. Mediocre at best. The only one favourite we have here is the baked radish cake. Not many places have this item and they do it quite well. Since my in-laws come here often they usually give us a complimentary dessert (egg tarts or red bean pancakes)

Overall it's not somewhere we'd come normally, but it's not terrible.

Pannakoek's, Toast and Hash.

Pannakoek's, Toast and Hash. That's what will be dominated on your plate at The Dutch. Fruit sides are decorative, not substantial. Pannakoek's are good but I was never happy with any kind of the included side options. I used to go hare all the time until Cora's opened. Gone are the days of lining up here. Now I'm surprised if there is a day where they are half full. Only after Cora's opened, they come out with a special's menu but the fruit and vegetable sides still suck. Service is always efficient and friendly. I will be back with my next pannakoek craving. I think they can bring back customers if they start offering healthy side options that actually taste good and don't end up costing me extra on top of already pretty pricey pannakoek's.

Found the chicken and beef on top of the bowl of Bun, noodle very dry. Unless you like dried out white chicken breast meat and dry beef / beef jerky which tasted like it had been precooked and sitting around for awhile, I suggest you order something else on the menu. I have had this dish before but today it was really awful and the meat not fresh and over cooked.. don't think I will be coming here in the near future.

went here for dinner recently. Large place and only a few tables occupied but we're early eaters. We were greeted warmly and took a while to go through the large menu. Our server was quite friendly. We choose Sweet and sour pork, a fish dish with mango and some noodles. The fish was served in a fish shaped metal dish with it's own burner that kept it sizzling. I should have taken a picture, it looked so nice. I was surprised that the fish was deep fried pieces, but the taste was quite nice. The pork had good flavour as well as did the noodles. The lady at the next table sent her food back as she said it wasn't like in Thailand, but having never been there, we didn't know it wasn't authentic. We had leftovers to take home and they were nice the next day as well. We'll definitely go back or get take out as they seem to have quite a few bargains on their to go menu.

Have eaten here quite a few times, three times with my partner and twice in a group of more than 20 people and have enjoyed it everytime. Comfortable clean atmosphere and not full of drunken people which is great as I don't drink. French onion soup is nice, hot and flavourful, the steak special is huge, seafood club is delicious.
We've used the Entertainment coupon a few times and no problems at all. There was one time where I wasn't served any vegetables with my meal and the server didn't come by to ask how things were until much later. When I told her, she gave me my meal for 1/2 price which was nice. I've only had trouble getting the bill when it's time to go a couple of times, but other than that it's fine. There are 1/2 price appies on Sunday which I want to go back for next time.

I had read the reviews so knew that I would be eating 'Canadian style from the 70's' type of food. The decor was better than I anticipated, quite a few tables, pretty clean although bland in decor, and there were quite a few people on staff. We were warmly greeted. The smogasbord could use a few more entree items. There were two soups which I tried both of and both were good; although a little strange to have spaghetti type noodles in the won ton soup. The entrees consist of french fries (I guess kids like these), two types of deep fried chicken wings (one with spices added), deep fried wontons (see the trend here), fried rice, flavourless fried noodle chowmein, deep fried ginger pork, deep fried sweet and sour pork, deep fried shrimp, and mixed veg. It was all nice and hot, but not much flavour. Nice to have fresh fruit for dessert as well as oh so chinese banana cream tarts and jello along with the fortune cookies. For only $12 each, value was good, but too much grease.

Not bad for Subway

Sometimes you just have to have Subway. Location, time diet, may just dicatate that this is al you can have for lunch. The bread does make the place smell weird though.

This subway is usually better than most. The owner is good. This location has the seafood filling again after many years! I don't know of any others that have it. They also have the $5 veggie foot long which makes up for the usual rip off on veggie subs.

I also like the salads here, althought sometimes the salads are huge and sometimes they are small depending on who makes it. Fast food should be reliably consistant. However, all in all this subway is better than most, but still overpriced.

Management team from hell!

The food here is good, average good but still good. However, the customer service is BRUTAL both in the restaurant and by takeout. I get the impression it's a family run business and since all the managers are family nepotism is at play, but when they screw up they feel no need to do anything to keep customers happy. They truly don't give a f*ck. When your food is badly prepared they do nothing. When your server ignores you to the point that tables sat after you are eating before you and you have to get your order to go, they could care less. When your delivery order takes well over an hour, and a manager lies to you on the phone telling you it's on it's way to have it still not arrive 20 minutes later (and you live seconds away) they do nothing and show you attitude when you call back. Worst customer service I have ever had in a restaurant. They are busy now because they just renovated and have a new space, but restaurants are a dime a dozen and crap customer service like that means it won't stay busy for long. The food is fine, but not good enough to treat your customers like garbage. Stay away and try one of the 10 other pizza places nearby.

This place hs no clue how to bake. Its bread is bleached white or dry brown bread pretending to be whole wheat when it's not. The girls that work there are really rude. They don't have any good cookies anymore like the walnut raisin ones, only white bread chocolate chip etc. Even the gingerbread men have NO flavor. I ordered a date square. I took one bite and threw it in the garbage. It had a huge thick brown soft gooey filling of something that looked like dates but was not. It was not really even sweet or tasty just sticky. The dusting of topping looked like floor sweepings and tasted kind of like cinnamon. That is NOT a date square. It was vile. How can they really sell junk like this? I hope they go out of business soon as they deserve to. It's not 1974 anymore. No one wants the crap you make.

This is by far the best restaurant in Port Coquitlam in my opinion. Everything seems homemade and it's among the best pasta and pizza I have ever had; the ingredients are fresh and I'm genuinely impressed. I order from here regularly and the food is consistently amazing, quickly delivered and they are always so polite with receiving my order. I've tried a lot of other places around PoCo here but this is my favourite. Almost exclusively Italian food though so not a lot of a ethnic variety and no soup options; however, every order I've had from there is amazing. I'm really thankful for Papa Dave's in PoCo!!!!!

I was just walking by and decided to try the Gulab Jamoon. It was honestly the best I've ever had in this city. All the rest are the same and not made with top ingredients. These were lighter, fluffier and not too sweet. I never had them like this before and it just sucks that I live far away or I'd go there all the time.

To top things off, the service I got from this girl was excellent. Very friendly and clean environment. The way the sweets were presented and tasted made me feel they had to have been just made.

I was really excited to try this place. I walked in and placed a take out order. The non Thai man behind the counter was friendly but a little too much for my liking - to the point of being intrusive.

I ordered the pad thai. It was ready in about 5 minutes and was a large portion for about twelve dollars..I love a perfect pad thai and was hoping for one, The first odd thing was there was a choice of beef, chicken and tofu. I thought it always had tofu - and beef pad thai? That's just plain weird. There was no option for shrimp which is what is supposed to be in pad thai. Now I'm confused. I ordered tofu. It ws deep fried tofu.

When I first tried it I thought it was a bit fishy from the fish sauce and it tasted a bit more chinese than thai. After a while it tasted pretty good but would have been much better with shrimp. My only real complaint was the oil!!! I have never eaten an oilier pad thai in my life! It was reallyl way too much and not necessary. That alone would keep me from ordering it again. I might return to try a curry though.

Poor communication on their part

Went here for a Father's day dim sum lunch. At the front counter area I approached the hottess and asked how long of a wait for a table. She asked how many people and I told her 4 adults and 2 children. She said in a moment. So I told the rest of my group that they should unload via text and they started to come. When they all arrived which was around 3 mins, another host stated that they have no room and that the wait will be at least 30 mins. I mentioned that I talked to the hostess and she said in a moment. He said that it will be 30 mins or more and there is nothing he can do. They have poor communication between the staff. She should have asked the other staff to clarify if they had room before I had the family come in. Was not impressed with their customer service. Will not be returning to this restaurant.

We decided to try this Ihop for the first time this morning. There were only two tables occupied and the waitress tried to sit us right next to a person talking loudly on a cell phone. After moving to a quieter part of the restaurant, we orderd our breakfast. If a cook mades pancakes all the time, you would think they could do it without burning them. Hate paying for burnt food.

The whole restaurant smells like a bathroom cleaned with pine-sol, very uncomfortable. will NOT be going back -

i just came back from brunch with my family, we were a group of about 8 people and the service started good. But they took a long time to give us our orders.. I was the last one, i got mine 15 minutes after everyone else and i got the wrong order! i was pissed becuase it would take at least 10 minutes for mine to ready, by that time everyone would have been finished. Then my cousin had an extra pancake so i asked if i could share.. the Pancake was awfully runny, no flavour and we returned it.. when she came back the new pancake was even worse!!! disgustingly runny...
when finally we asked for the bill, all was mixed.. we had to spend a while trying to figure out who was paying what
So for and my whole family we will not step into this "restaurant" again!

We ordered 4 things to share, and that we were extremely full at only $12 for the two of us. We gave a big tip because we just loved the food and were happy with the amount we got for the amount we paid. I was amazed. The service was good as well, and the feel of the place was nice. Came here last night for a friend's birthday, and I felt ripped off. We ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies... wow, it was terrible. For $20 the amount they gave was laughable. The chicken was about the size of the palm of my hand, and I'm a pretty small woman. The "grilled veggies" were two grape tomatoes and a tiny pepper... and the mashed potatoes were about the size of a small tea cup. Really? In addition, I ordered a sangria and I could barely taste any alcohol in it.Thank you Earl's... you made it easy for me to say I'll never come back here again.
