My friend and myself went to this pub hearing that there was a new chef with a brand new menu
We figured we would check it out
The new menu is very exciting so many good choices, also they do a monthly feature page which was absolutely incrediable . I have to say this is the best pub food I have eaten in years The Cat and fiddle should be proud they have succeeded in location, fabulous food and good service not all pubs can say this but the cat and fiddle can with Pride
I highly recommend this place you will not be dissappointed the food is to die for and the server are very easy on the eyes and take pride in their work. I will definately return and bring friends so they can enjoy what I have experienced,
The Cat and Fiddle good for you
Very Impressed with the experience.
I have been to the Cat and Fiddle a few times andd had heard about the customer appreciation party so a few friends and i decided to go. It was awsome! They had girls walking around with free appys all night and even gave away prizes. Our server was great my friends from out of town who had been here for christmas went back home and keep talking about this pub!
A bunch of my girlfriends were looking to find a place to party on New Years. We wanted to go somewhere local with good music rather than going all the way downtown. We decided to go to the Fiddle and had one of the best New Year's ever! The music had us dancing all night! We requested tons of songs and the DJ played all of them. He was awesome! We will definitely be going back to dance some more :)

My husband and I ordered take away from Namaste on New Year's Eve to enjoy at home. We had eaten take away from this restaurant once before when we first moved to the neighbourhood about 16 months ago and we thought the food was very solid. If I had written a review previously I would have given the restaurant a 3 or even 4 star rating. However, this time we were extremely disappointed.
The food was some of the blandest indian food we had ever tasted. We ordered the Mattar Paneer and Aloo Gobi both with a medium spice. Not only was the food extremely mild there was no depth to the flavours. The paneer cheese in the Mattar Paneer was bland and I suspect frozen peas were used so the dish overall tasted stale. The Aloo Gobi, which I had eaten previously from Namaste, was just overall boring. We also ordered garlic naan which was dry and cold. I wouldn't claim to be an excellent cook, but I have made more flavourful curries in my own kitchen.
The staff at the resturant were very friendly and efficient both in taking our order over the phone and when we arrived to pick up our order. The portion sizes were ample and had the food been more appetizing I would have said the price was excellent value for what we received.
A group of my friends and I all live in the area and frequent the Cat and Fiddle and we made plans to head to the cat for xmas eve get together. We ended up having quite a big group show up and they were very accomodating and made sure everyone in the group was taken care of. We had a great time, our server was awesome, the food was awesome and we all left happy.
I highly recommend the the cat and fiddle, the servers and bartenders are friendly and outgoing, the food is excellent and they always have great drink specials too!
I went to the Cat and Fiddle for my birthday and had a wonderful time. Even tho it was short notice they were able to make a reservation for a large party for me (which most places don't do for you). They must of just changed their menu because there were a bunch of new things on there. i tried their Sweet Chili Chicken and OMG it was amazing. All of our food came out pretty fast for having a large number of people in our group. Our server was great, drinks were always full and she even got a few of the other girls and one of the cute bartenders to come over and sing happy birthday to me when my friends brought the cake out. we had such a fun time there that we ended up just staying there all night dancing on the dance floor. the DJ was really good, he played any kind of music that you wanted to listen to. i would for sure go back for my birthday next year or tell me friends to go there for theirs.
Always pass by this little Japanese restuarant on Lougheed, but never thought to try it because of the odd location. Finally decided to go there for lunch one day. I like the fact that it's a nice little authentic Japanese restaurant, which I'm always on the search for.
It was a slow day for the, there was only one other customer there when I arrive. I was seated right away. The waitress (presumably the owner's wife) came by with my menu and came back almost right away for my order, but I was still studying the menu considering it was only my first time. The service was only so-so, my tea only got refilled once with me asking.
I decided to go with the sashimi rice on their lunch special menu. The portion was alright. A small bowl for $10, and it also came with a small order of agadashi tofu, which was quite good. The variety of fish was good, there were 3 different kinds of tuna, salmon, mackerel, egg, chopped scallop and maybe 1 other kind of fish. The sauce on the seared tuna was a little too salty for my taste and it got onto half the fish in my bowl, kind of overpowered the tastes of the other fish. In terms of the freshness of the fish, it was alright, a little watery on the salmon from the defrosting, but other than that, everything else was pretty fresh.
Overall, it was good sushi. I will probably come back, and perhaps come back to try their Happy Hour specials.
Why are these places around? Most shops have wifi. The coffee which I have had on numerous occasions is really not very good and their baked good are really low budget. The flax rolls they sell are really bad. I only go here if desperate because my dr office is here.
It sure tastes like it. I make cupcakes at home from a mix that are just as good. These are not bad, nor are most cupcake places, except that one by Coquitlam Centre that pretends to be healthy. i just don't get it. Prices are comparable and so are the cupcakes here. Part of the problem is a bad location but really cupcakes are a fad. Their other cakes look nice but I don't know how much they would cost.
I have never walked by this place and seen a customer in there - ever. I went in once, got cupcakes for my family dinner and although they were all eaten in a couple of days, no one asked anything about them or said a word, like a box of twinkies or something. When I'm paying that much for cupcakes I expect some comments. But, the lack of comment spoke voumes. I give the place another 6 months.
I went to this restaurant in the summer with a group. It was a busy time, so I didn't get a chance to really look around. The food was excellent, and I loved creating my sauce according to the menu above the sauce cart. Great fun!! We've been a couple of times since then. On my last visit however, I had the misfortune of needing to use the restroom. YUCK! The toilet was scummy, behind the taps there was a science experiment underway with green things growing in it, and the walls were filthy. That made me look around with a keener eye. The main part of the restaurant is kept pretty clean, but I noticed when I was standing to pay that the floor in the kitchen (the corner I could see) was horrible. I don't think I'll be back again - it really turned me off. If they are only keeping things that you are likely to notice clean, and neglecting the things that you aren't as likely to see, it sounds like a recipe for trouble to me. I hope they clean things up, as I would love to return here, I'm just not keen on the risk now.
I'm a bit of a cake and cupcake fan, though I try not to indulge very often. I came across this neat little place tucked away in downtown PoCo. It has a really funky kind of atmosphere - they even turned an old fashioned refrigerator into a display cabinet. When I went in I was blown away by the artistry in the cakes and their cupcakes as well - from elegant and sophisticated to funny and playful!! They have an Alice in Wonderland themed cake on display, and it could stand against any of the cakes I've seen on those TV shows (ie: Cake Boss, etc). I ordered a selection of mini cupcakes, and a few full size cupcakes - half expecting them to be all show and no go - I was dead wrong, the icing was perfect, not too sweet & not too much - and the cake itself was moist, delicious and so flavourful. The people were extremely friendly and helpful, and while it isn't cheap, I think it compares in price to the other cupcake places, and far surpasses them in flavour and texture. We sampled a selection of their other goodies - mmmm mmmmm!! I would give this place a try!!
Where to begin...I really don't like writing bad reviews but I thought I would be doing everyone who thought about going here a disservice if I didn't write this. Was visiting a friend out here and we ordered from here based on dine here reviews but was sadly disappointed. They got the order wrong but we didn't find that out until we got home and couldn't be brothered to go back. The presentation looked good but the food didn't taste nearly as good as other reviewers say it is - maybe they never had good authentic sushi? Worse part is, I have had way better sushi for less. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem paying a lot for good food but when the quality and taste is not there, and they charge the same as anyone else, we have a right to feel ripped off - will not be returning ever again!
As the event planner for PoCoMo Youth Services Society, 2 other societies and PoCoMo planned a dinner fundraiser at Pallas Athena. I had the Greek salad, Kalamari dinner served with rice pilaf, roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables, pita and tzatziki. Everything came in HUGE and generous portions. We had approximately 70 people attended this event. I had noted excellent performance from the staff: friendly and prompt service with a smile!
In addition to the generous portions, the owner of the restaurant offered to cover the cost of the HST and donated a couple of gift certificates in support of our fundraiser. Thank you!
All of us had a great time. Again, on behalf of PoCoMo, thank you and your staff for your generosity, the exemplary service and support of PoCoMo.
We have had chinese from here 3 times now. We are so happy to have somewhere other than Skydragon to go to. We have eaten in once and the food and service were good. We have had take out twice. You get more food when you take out plus a 10% discount if you pay cash. They are very accomodating when you ask for substitutions on the meals too!!! The place has been close to empty everytime we have gone there, hopefully more people will try it and love it like we do!
Went for my friends kids hockey fundraiser. There were 3 food choices for the fundraiser. One was pretty good (ginger beef) one was average(burger and fries) one was Gross spaghetti with rose sauce which was just ragu with a touch of cream and garlic powder. It even looked like Italian baby vomit.
The waitress we had was really good but it was hard to find her and she did forget drinks a few times. But I've had way worse. It did not seem as busy on a Saturday night as in past years and still seems to cater to the middleage crowd rather than younger people by the music.
It was ok. But, I'd have to think twice again unless it was a good friend's fundraiser.
I was so excited to go here. From the reviews it sounded great. It wasn't bad, just nowhere near my expectations. I had my usual falafel which was fine for $4.50. But I thought it was going to be awesome till the nice man behind the counter walked over to the microwave and Nuked my falafel balls. I hate nuked balls - I want them crispy like they're supposed to be. It looks like the falafel here is an afterhtought to the donairs. The falafel got the usual salad and some plain not garlicky tzatziki and hot sauce. Not very inspired.
I might go back again and try some of the Greek stuff, but probably not. The donair platters looked good.
Our family with one young son went there so mom and dad can have a wine with lunch. Waiting 10 minutes for a waitress should have been a hint. In the hour we were there I don't think we saw the waitress in our area more than 5 times. We wanted a 2nd drink but did not want to wait in the freezing cold pub for another minute. The food was good, but it got cold before we could finish it. Boy, has this place gone down hill. So bad that we did something we never did before, instead of leaving our normal 15%, my wife left nothing.
Last night we went to the Cat & Fiddle for the first time in over a year with some friends, to our surprise this was an amazing night '
The food was second to none
I went with the rack of ribs on special, served with fries and salad for only $7.95 this was awesome, Tony Roma's you have nothing on the Cat and what a deal.
My girl friend and the two friends that were with us had a
steak sandwich, seafood salad, quesadilla, everyone loved their meals and the portion's were fabulous
for starter's we had wing's, calamari, plus caesar salad, the appies came out quick and fast but most of all were great
the service was second to none, the waitress was a girl named Racheal
she was cute, funny but the neat thing was she actually really liked her job as I thought this all was to good to be true so I asked her....lol
The bar tender was Tony funny guy as he was trying his best to entertain customer's with bottle trick's around the bar, and at one point made his way over to our table to ask us how everything was going and if he could get anything for us.
Well here's my review, normally would Never do something like this but we had way to good of an experience not to, as normally from my experience the only review's people give are when they complain
Our total visit at the Cat was three hours while watching the hockey game, if I could I would give the Cat a 10 out 10
thanks guy's we'll be back soon
My husband and I decided to give this place a try since we were frequent customers of the old Pearl Castle (we're sad they closed down). The decor of this place is nice. It had the old structures but they make it more Thai-ish. Friendly customer service and we were seated right away.
They had a lunch menu with some special combo items. I ordered the Prawn Panang from the set menu that includes some rice, Vietnamese spring rolls, and salad ($10). My husband ordered the Bankok (yes, that's how they spelt it on the menu) fried rice ($8). We also ordered the Thai tea ($3) and dessert was Deep fried bananas with ice cream ($4).
First the Prawns.... Good flavour for the curry sauce and nice sized prawns. I would've liked more pieces since it only came with 4. The rice were a bit undercooked/dry. Some bites are ok, but there will be some spoonfuls where it's grainy. The salad is a mound of chopped lettuce, which I didn't mind. Spring roll was good! It's the kind wrapped in rice paper. The dipping sauce is disappointing though. Too salty and not sweet enough.
The fried rice.... VERY GOOD! This dish gained the restaurant the extra star. It was delicious! The flavour was there and they're generous with the chicken chunks. Definitely a must try. Portion is pretty good for lunch.
The Thai tea was awesome. We're told they use their own blend. It's very very good. Not too acidic and very aromatic.
The dessert was so so. It's deep fried bananas with vanilla ice cream. Normally this is my favourite dessert. They tried to be fancy and drizzled the dish with chocolate sauce and mango sauce. The chocolate sauce works well, but the mango... ummm not too well. It's too sour and it's not a very good flavour profile with the bananas and ice cream. Maybe I'm just not used to it. I will definitely order this again and ask them not to put the mango sauce on. The bananas are fried to perfection though. So overall not bad.
After all is said and done, the service was excellent. Our water glasses were never empty and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful. They came to our table a few times to check if we're enjoying our food. We'll be visiting this restaurant again to try the other dishes.
We decided to go out for Greek food the other day and we found this nice restaurant. I started with calamari which was tender and had a very nice tzatziki dip. This made me feel good about coming here for dinner. I chose the roast lamb to have for my entree. It was very good. The lamb was perfectly spiced and came off the bone with my fork. I was very happy. My friend had the moussaka which he said was very authentic.
The service was good. They weren't always hovering around but were there quickly when our meals were done.
