Always a treat. Have the General Tso's Chicken, Honey Garlic Spareribs, Salt and Pepper Squid and the House Special Fried Rice and you'll be licking your chops for days! The portions are large and there is always a lot left for the next day. If you like more tradfitional fare - they have a live crab tank and lot's of wonderful black bean dishes. Also the lettuce wraps - to die for .... so good
I never do these sights but after the awsome fun time i had this weekend i have too!
My girlfriends and I havent been out in a while so we decided to go bakc to the fiddle cause its been years. We had heard alot had changed so we said lets go down and see where we go from there,
We got there and the bar was decorated like a beach theme or something. We saw everyone with leis so when we got up to the bartendar we asked what it was about. She was awsome fun and totally hooked us up and told us they were having a tropical party. It was so fun. The 2 chicks behind the bar were working their butts off but everytime we came up they remebered what we were drinking and we didnt have to wait. It was cool to see 2 nice happy girls working in bar!! And having fun with everyone.
We hung out on the dance floor pretty much all night, the DJ was super cute and was all about making our night fun.
Since its been a while hanging out at the cat all i can say is it was a blast, My girlfriends and I were happy and impressed and we were still talking about today so i wanted to give credit were it was due!
Koodoos to the fiddle and the girlies behind the bar! Another happy customer who will be back soon!!
Unfortunately for people in Coquitlam, there aren't that many restaurants around in the area that serves Cantonese food.
However, if anything, this place has just gotten worse and worse over the years.First, there was a 15 minute wait for your table (the shortest record btw), followed by about 10 minutes of wiaitng for the menu to arrive at the table. Thankfully, as their menu hasn't changed since they first opened, we were able to memorize 4 dishes and flagged down the first waiter (there were 4 altogether and 1 left about 30 min after we sat down). She actually had the nerve to query that we could order without looking at the menu.
Then the food arrived, and it was good food. Well, good if you don't count in the beef that we couldn't chew through and had to cut into smaller decently sized pieces with a knife. Good also if you don't think about the fact that it took them 15 min to bring two cups of hot water (and that's after asking two different waiters), or the fact that refilling your teacup is only possible 10-15 minutes after you ask twice.
If you go, make sure you are not hungry to begin with, and if you have the patience of a saint.
Every once in awhile when we're in the neighbourhood and craving cheap eats, we drop by Deer Garden.
The place is not much to look at, your usual mediocre semi-clean looking Chinese restaurant.
The food here is decent, and portions are generous for the prices.
For their lunch, the freshly made noodle soups are very refreshing, something not commonly found. Essentially you choose your soup, ingredients, and type of noodles and they make it fresh for you.
The other lunch specials are nothing to write home about, but portions are large, and prices are low.
For dinner, their "choose X# of items from the menu" prices are pretty standard. My personal favorite is the spicy fried squid. Not all places get the batter right, but they get it crispy, without the batter being too thick or greasy.
Service here is nearly non-existant. You have to flag down waitresses for everything, and half the time they pretend they don't see you. It's almost funny because when it's busy, they're waiting to kick you out, but you have to wait for everything because you can't get someone to serve you in the first place!
Overall, a place to go for cheap and tasty food, but don't expect to get in and out quickly unless you aggressively flag down waitresses. If you require any sort of decent service, this isn't the place for you.
Not being a fan of the Waves cafes, I had never really tried this location. Where others are either rundown and empty or packed with students taking up tables for hours on a $2 coffee this was completely different. Weird, in Poco.
It had a great cafe vibe, a good mix of people, good music and nice table set ups. I had a coupon from the paper and it was gladly accepted with no hassle. I think I had a caramel macchiato and honestly it was 100 times better than anything I ever have at Starbucks. Good coffee with good crema. I was stunned, it almost tasted like Cafe Artigiano. Slightly more than Starbucks in cost but the coffee and atmosphere were worth it. I will be back.
Not wholly impressed. I specifically ordered their weeknight take out special, 2 chicken Souvlaki dinners for $24, which was advertised in their flyer that we received in the mail. I ordered on Valentine's Day. Nowhere in the flyer did it state that the weeknight special excludes Holidays. After 5 minutes of arguing, the hostess didn't budge. We ordered, anyway, and the food was okay-NOT the best Greek I've ever had. The hostess was nice enough to include a complimentary dessert, though. But, the okay food combined with the experience, will not make me go back. There are other Greek restaurants in the area, which are far better, like Dinaki's (the service AND food is FAR superior).
Nice environment, very clean looking. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the roast lamb. The Greek salad came first which was nice but bland. The vegetables were fresh and nice but with very little seasoning. The lamb was tender but again with not spiced up enough for me. The spanakapita was very good as well as saganaki. The wine list seamed overpriced for the wines offered. Prices were quite reasonable. Worth a try though.
but why the heck is Subway so freakin expensive? I know people say it's fresh food and better for you than say McDs but their pricing structure sucks. Vegetarian are completely ripped off. I stopped going because of the cost to take my kids and myself for veggie sandwiches. Recently there was a $5 footlong promo that I didn't realize was going to end. We had started visiting subway more often - until today.
My kid had a footlong sub, with cheese, and little extra cheese(which they charge for). That makes NO sense because if he had ham or deli meat it would have been included. Veggie sandwiches are the same price as all the other "classic" sandwiches that have meat AND cheese. Then has a little lettuce, 3 pieces of cucumber and some mayo. With a bag of chips and a drink it came to $11.50 - for ONE kid. You have to be kidding me. They better fix their prices or people will be going bag to the other places.
I refused to pay them any more and walked down to taco del mar where I got a huge burrito with fish, chips and salsa and a drink - I could not finish all the food - for $7.50. Subway better shake their head.
I've been to Sparta several times now and have always enjoyed my meal. If you like roast Lamb, this is the place for you. The portion is big, and the roast is tender and very flavourful. Their calamari is also excellent.
I find their portions are great and the service is wonderful. I live in Richmond but it's well worth the drive for a great Greek meal!
For many years we have visited the Gillnetter and enjoyed the view of the river. The view is still there but the food has declined in quality. We went as a party of six and found the appy menu less than enticing. We finally ordered a full plate of Nachos and an order of Kalamari. The nachos were delivered hot, but the toppings were sparse. We asked for some jalapenos on the side and they were graciously supplied. The Kalamari were greasy and rather bland.
I had my heart set on the evening's special, a seafood lasagna but at seven I was told they were all out of it. I decided on the BBQ ribs. They were meaty and tender enough but had obviously been reheated and coated with sauce.
Our server was pleasant and helpful although may have been a little overworked. As we were celebrating two Birthdays she offered the celebrants a complimentary dessert. One chose the carrot cake, the other a chocolate cheese cake. Every one had a taste and all agreed they were excellent!
I am hoping we just caught them on a bad night and will probably give them another chance. They did have some wonderful seafood dishes in the past.
We tried out this place recently because of the great reviews on dinehere and because we were looking for a new sushi place a little closer to home. Overall we did not leave disappointed but it also wasn't the best sushi we have had. The service was great, the food was served promptly and the sushi was displayed nicely. While the food was decent it didn't have that pop that great super fresh sushi can give you.
The ambiance of the restaurant is interesting with a funky menu layout and eclectic decorations. The music was a little too dance club for my liking There are mostly larger tables with only two small tables near the front of the restaurant. Which means that if you are a group of two you are stuck looking out over a strip mall parking lot. Some blinds or shades would make those front tables more intimate.
Overall we were happy and we will likely go back but only when we want the convenience of a close location rather than venturing further afield to our preferred spots.
The absolute best calamari I have EVER had. the spanakopita appy is a generous size piece cut in half for presentation and served with delicious tzatziki, $7.95 is certainly reasonable for an appy. If you want more order the platter for 9 bucks more it is loaded with lots of good stuff that will fill most; I personally can't finish it all. The greek lamb is succulent and there are always a tantalizing list of daily specials to please any pallette. If you go there with your little girl be sure to order her a shirley temple, my little girl swears theirs is the best. There is a childrens menu so the whole family will leave feeling satisfied. Staff is friendly and service is quite good. The decor is typical blue and white greek island, nothing fancy but clean and nice. This restaurant is no where near our home, but when we want greek food there is no other, it is well worth th drive.
Went to Wah Wing years ago (several years ago) and used to order the ginger beef, szechwan beans and shanghai noodles. It was a favorite. Decided to order the exact same thing today and it was as good as i remembered it!
Ginger beef was super lean and not "battery" - very delicious. Spicy green beans were delicious also, with a nice kick but not too spicy, and the shanghai noodles were also very tasty.
We also ordered 2 wonton soups - great flavor!!! Not salty at all and a great ginger flavor in the dumplings!
All three dishes and 2 soups came to $47! Considering how much food you get, that - I think - is a reasonable value!
I would definitely order from there again!!!
This place could be really good. I had a combo with a greek salad. It was absolutely the worst greek salad I have ever had anywhere. It was mostly nasty green pepper, big pieces, tomatoes were hard as a rock and it had absolutely No dressing. Plus the worst part was the lille bit of cheese they put on was goat feta. I can';t stand goat cheese and it did not say anywhere that it was goat cheese. It wasn't much but it was enough to ruin th entire salad so I could not eat it.
The pita sanwich was ok but way too much sauce made the pita soggy and then fall apart. Customer service was lacking. I stood at the till for a very lond time before I was acknowledged. You gotta step it up if you want me to come back.
I have been loving this place since it opened. I spent some time in Thailand, and absolutly LOVED the family photos there. Loved how the place felt and have even gone there for a birthday (which was just when they opened, and they expidited a Liquor licence for me!!) The Family run business makes you feel like your Thai aunt is cooking for you. The Pad Thai is the best and freshest and best tasting i have ever had. And trust me, i went all over thailand looking for the best, this tops it all.
Now the green curry.... nothing makes my day perfect without this. Add in some chicken and it has to be my favorite meal ever! They are friendly and fast!! NOT greasy (which seems to be an issue with a lot of thai places) and all authentic ingredients!
I cant get enough of this place!!
In fact, I am going there tomorrow.
Enjoy!! and share your thoughts!!
Wife and I had dinner here cause she is Greek and it is her name.
What a super surprise very modern not typical Greek ble and white no vines nice decore.
Food was spectacular and portions were very large I can eat but left stuffed.
Taste was to die for I had the Seafood Slovakia 2 skewers of prawns salmon and halibut and large pieces.
The food was on the table in short order which included the 2 skewers Greek salad 2 Potatos rice pilaf pita and Tzatzika all this for $17 I would definetly recomend and will be going back myself lots
If you are looking for standard Sushi Bar fare, stop now. There is no Nigiri sushi to be found here, instead an incredible menu, with an amazing assortment of eclectic Japanese Fusion. Try the White Bamboo. The Agedashi Tofu is to die for. The sashimi selction is limited to various tunas and salmon, but of very good quality.
We didn't even get to their selection of rolls and cones; that's for next time!
The restaurant itself is tiny compared to many in the area; small, comfortable, yet still spacious. The wait staff was very attentive, and food arrived quickly.
Overall, simply a great dining experience!
Upon hearing outstanding recommendations of Sushi Shelter 101 from close friends my guy and I decided to check it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed. The food was like a work of art. It was presented so nicely that we almost did not want to eat it. The best part was that the food did in fact taste as good as it looked. I must admit that I am a wimp and not a fan of raw fish so I stuck to tempura and teriyaki beef. The guy, who lives for sushi had nothing but great things to say about it. The place is very small and intimate and only holds about twenty people. The prices were good, as they are a little higher than most sushi restaurants in the area but the quality of food makes it a steal. I would defiantly recommend Sushi Shelter 101! I wish we had one in Port Moody!
The Cat and Fiddle was a very nice pub, I could see me and my friends hanging out their more often.
Great night, they have a DJ and there is dancing on Wed, Fri. and Saturday's.
Great deal used Groupon paid $15.00 for $30.00 of food and drink.
The food was unreal, great drinks and what an unbelievable deal with Groupon.
This is a place I would visit regularly. Went with 5 girl friends, we had such a good time.
The staff was really friendly, good service.
My friend and myself went to this pub hearing that there was a new chef with a brand new menu
We figured we would check it out
The new menu is very exciting so many good choices, also they do a monthly feature page which was absolutely incrediable . I have to say this is the best pub food I have eaten in years The Cat and fiddle should be proud they have succeeded in location, fabulous food and good service not all pubs can say this but the cat and fiddle can with Pride
I highly recommend this place you will not be dissappointed the food is to die for and the server are very easy on the eyes and take pride in their work. I will definately return and bring friends so they can enjoy what I have experienced,
The Cat and Fiddle good for you
Very Impressed with the experience.
