Sometimes you just have a craving for white man's chinese food. My wife, being caucasian enjoys the authentic stuff too, but there are times when she wants that sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mein and beef chop suey done the "canadian way". Excuse me if I've offended anyone, as that was not my intent...if you don't know what "white man's chinese food" is, just ask someone that you know who is chinese and they will tell you.
We started ordering from Wings about a year ago. The food is quite good and they apparently do quite a brisk business doing take out. I've picked up an order or two from their restaurant and there never seems to be anyone there when I go though??? We normally order the dinner for 3 combo. Chicken chow mein, beef chop suey, pork fried rice and sweet and sour pork for a little over $20. The serving sizes are the largest, and that is reflected in their pricing. What would normally be charged for chicken chow mein at other places would be $7.95 costs about $5.95 here. Portions are smaller, but they come in these really great re-usuable plastic containers. Food is decent and does not come cooked in too much oil or any msg as I can detect (which is not really a big deal for me anyways, msg is just another form of salt).
Delivery is also quite prompt. My only concern is that a few times now, we have tried to call them for a pick up order and their phones just ring and ring and ring and ring. Not sure if they are just too busy to pick up or it doesn't go to voice mail or if they are just closed for vacation...very disappointing because Mrs. K-Dawg73 ended up having to have pizza or Mcdonald's those nights. ;-)
I've never seen the inside of this place, but it's our standard for chinese takeout. Portions are generous and the food is decent. For canadian chinese dishes (chicken balls, beef and brocolli, fried rice), they do it up right. And their hot and sour soup is pretty darned good too.
Delivery is always prompt.
We have been going to wings for a while now, the food is good a bit on the gresey side..and very canadian. The staff are alright, the older lady is on the rude side as well as the older gentelman.
My sister and I were ordering take out (1 person 3 item meal) when the guy said that we were only allowed one soy sauce with our meal, and we were like "they are condiments for christ sake" he said "no only one per meal" I then told him that if we were not given more than i would not eat here again, and inform my friends of the poor service...he gave me the extra soy sauce but was very rude about it.....which i did not apprecate....
we now go to a different chinease food resturant....
the service was crap
the food was alright
the inside of the resturant is quite dated, it was as if I was going back in time into the 1980s it needs an update in the decor department as well as in the service department....
I first discovered this place working in downtown Poco. It's kind of hidden near city hall on McAllister. We ordered for our clients at work and they loved it. The food always hot, fresh and tasty. Makes me hungry just thinking about it. The portions are generous, and they are always prompt for take-out. Service is pretty good, nothing outstanding, but we go there for the food anyways. A great value that never disappoints. Not too greasy, lots of selection, just overall yummy. I highly recommend for take-out for those nights you don't feel like cooking and wants something better than fast food for close to the same price, plus you will have lots of left overs for the next day. Eat is pretty good too if you are in the area. My favourites are the almond chicken, chicken chop suey, sweet and sour chicken balls, and hot and sour soup. You won't be disappointed.
