please do NOT have the steamed shrimp dumplings !

We went here for the first time for dim sum on the weekend. The place looked old and smelled kind of musty. We were seated in the middle of the hallway. We ordered steamed shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, spareibs, & fried radish cake. The only dish that tasted like normal dim sum were the pork dumplings. Everything else did not taste like it should have. The worst dish was the steamed shrimp dumplilngs (ha gow). It was horrendous as smelled fishy, had a bad consistency, did not have a straight shrimp filling but tasted like a mixed filling of something, the rice coverering fell apart and did not taste good either. Dim sum should be piping hot and these dishes were not. There are so many excellent dim sum places elsewhere so we definitely will NOT be returning here even if their plates of dim sum were only $2.75 each.

Dim Sum

I tried Dim Sum today. I would have not gone there if I have read other people's comments. However, I haven't, so I tried it. For the price, the food was good. We had 5 dishes in total, shrimp dumpling, siu mai, deep fried squid... and couple of other dishes. The place was old but carpet was clean. It did not have bad smell as others have commented. If you want a big portion for a cheap price, try it. I personally will go back but probably do take out.

We had take out here recently. Manager is quite nice and everything was ready within 15 minutes. The dinner for two will feed four easily as we had lots of leftovers and ate a lot. We've done the all you can eat here a couple of times as well and the place is in need of a good cleaning, some new dishes and redecorating, but for the price the value is good. It was basic Canadian style chinese food that we ate, not the more exotic dishes. The food is not fabulous, just a step up from a food court, but tasty enough that we will go back. There isn't enough pineapple to go with the sweet n sour pork. Don't go there expecting it to be like Kirin or other upscale restaurants.

Cheap Lunch

We ordered a wonton noodle soup and beef brisket on egg noodle and it cost us $10 tip included and was enough lunch for 2 people. The won ton noodle soup serving was smaller than what you would get at other won ton restaurants but was enough for anyone with a light appetite and only cost $2.95. The beef brisket on fried noodles was a bit greasy but not bad for the cheap price.
The turn off was that after the waiter wiped off our table before we sat down it smelled horribly like mildew.
We had to pour some of our hot tea on to the table and rewipe it ourselves. The restaurant needs a good cleaning.

bad dim sum

we just had dim sum today and it was really bad. the steamed prawn dumpling taste awful, it was sooooooo not fresh and it smells bad. i think if u buy it in T&T, the frozen ones are much better. the fried skin bean curd mushroom taste like rubber. chix feet and beef tripes are OK. we had fried squids, too and it's the best among others that we ordered. we live in poco and saw this place couple of times was so crowded, so we had to try. the service was OK. we dont care about the ambiance all we know that whenever there's a restaurant full of customers it must be good well at least we found out that's not always true.

Ordinary surroundings, decent dim sum.

I have only had their dim sum and it was quite good: fresh and flavourful. The service is typical of an asian restaurant: perfunctory not fawning. The decor is shabby-ish and the whole place could use a good clean and a vacuum. However, it is not bad enough to be off-putting. I'm from Surrey and I drive to Port Coquitlam for dim sum (haven't found any good dim sum in Surrey).... I'm surprised that a previous reviewer found the food bad.

Not right

I order to go and when I picked up the food, the server kept saying sorry, it took so long and sorry, sorry. I said no problem. Well it was a problem when we got home and ate it. This is a restaurant run by chinese people, but it did not taste like chinese food. I have had better chinese food when I ate at Safeway. The food just didn't taste very good, greasy and not cooked the traditonal way. We lost our appetities after a few bites. Now I know why the server kept saying sorry.

Worst Chinese Food

My boyfriend and I decided to eat there. The restaurant is very run down and needs a lot of work. It looked dirty but we tried to not let it get to us just in case we might be impressed. Unfortunately, it was anything but impressive. The food was greasy and did not taste fresh at all. The dumplings tasted like those that I could buy from T&T supermarket. The servers were very noisy and there is a very ungly fish tank full of dirty looking fish too...makes me wonder...All in all, very disgusting and I would not reccomend anyone eat there.

Dim Sum

They have Dim Sum on Saturdays & Sundays 10:30 on. Each dish is $2.50 and is excellent. No extra charges for tea . I, personally do not care for Soya sauce, so have often asked for a side of black bean sauce, and they have never charged me extra. I find them very accommodating & super friendly. Nice "homey" atmosphere.
