Really Good Greek place

We ususally come here twice a year and always with an entertainment coupon. I like that fact that it has classier looking decor than most Greek restaurants. The staff is friendly and the food is good.

I really like the spanikopita here. It is very tasty and not greasy. The pita bread is fantastic but a little over priced I think for extra. Souvlakis are good, salads, Greek and Caesar among some of the best. Potatoes are ok. The only criticism is that for a Greek restaurant the portions are somewhat small. I don't really want huge portions but for the same price as other places there really aren't any leftovers, even the rice serving is a scant 1/2 cup.

Despite this with the coupon it's a nice dinner out.

Been going to this restaurant for a few years now.
Usually with a group for birthday dinner.
Went there last month for a birthday dinner and the waitress inform us that there'll be a small fee to have our birthday cake there.
Food was great as always, then came cake time, and then bill time.
The small fee came to be $12.
Frankly if they keep applying this small fee, we'll probably switch to My Greek in coquitlam for our future parties.

Not worth it!!

We went there for our Valentine dinner early on Sunday. The place seemed nice and clean, we were seated right beside a large table with 4 children which was unpleasant with the crying. There were other tables available no where near them but for some reason they felt the need to cram us right beside them, we left our kid at home to have a nice quiet dinner. The service was subpar only the water glass was filled in a timely manner. Drinks took 15 minutes after ordering, dirty plates were left until the next course came. This place was not even busy and our entree's took 60 minutes we just about got up and left. Lets go over the food we ordered calamary to start and souvlaki and baby back ribs for mains. Our greek salad was served first which was blan and the feta had no pieces bigger than a sesame seed. The calamary was tasteless and a let down. The mains finally arrived my baby back ribs were hard to describe except for they were like they were steamed to mush then overly seasoned from a shaker then grill for 2 minutes they were terrible. My wifes beef and prawn souvlaki was extremely small about one ounce of beef tasty enough and the prawns were dry. The rice pilaf was really over seasoned, the potato was ok but only half of a small potato and the green beens were good. When I asked for the bill this took 15 minutes and if it was a minute longer I was leaving without paying, when are some of these people going to realize that if they don't bring the bill in a timely manner or they will not get paid and I will walk out. I don't understand some of the reviews listed below. I will never return here even though I have entertainment book coupons but even at half price it is still not worth it.

What an incredible find!! Four of us we're here for dinner last night. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we were treated like royalty. Staff was very intentive and accommodating to our requests. The food was amazing. We ordered the appetizer sampler and there was more than enough for the 4 of us. Oddly enough, we all ordered the arni psito and were not disappointed. It was so tender and tasty, as was the rice and green beans. The greek salad was incredibly fresh. The portions were large enough that 3 of us had our entree doggy bagged. It's been a long time since we've been so impressed with an evening out.
Can't wait to go back.

Took a chance the other night and was rewarded. Everything was great, the food was fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful and having an entertainment coupon didn't hurt. The place was very clean and quiet just the way we like it. Wife and I will return to try other dishes.

Good lamb chops, well-seasoned rice.
By Food-Goddess of Coquitlam (96 Reviews)
Submitted Wednesday, July 14, 2010 - 1:56pm [Dine in]

Saw the great reviews for this place on this website, so my husband and I decided to give it a try with our Entertainment Book coupon. It was a little hard to find, and you would miss it if you were paying attention because it's tucked kind of at the back on the far side of Save-On-Foods.
Love the decor on the inside, very unique, kind of like being in Europe.
I ordered the lamp chops and my husband ordered the steak, and we had the calamari appy to share. The calamari was quite fishy, I could smell it the moment it was brought to the table. The calamari was a little soggy and very greasy, and too salty. It was alright, but we wouldn't order it again. However, everything else was quite nice, especially the pita bread - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
My order of lamb chops was quite nicely done, slightly on the salty side, but the meat was very moist. The green beans was a little overdone, but that was compensated by the perfectly done rice. Probably the best rice I've had at a Greek restaurant!
Great price (even without the coupon), and great food. Would definitely come back again, but perhaps just stay away from the calamari.

One of the very best Greek eateries in Greater Vancouver!

To-night was my first time dining at this unassuming Port Coquitlam eating establishment. I ordered the tomato and onion salad, the kalamari, the prawns and scallops and the roast lamb, which is to say, the arni psito.

The restaurant ambiance itself is nothing special, not a speck of blue in sight but plenty of white. The service, however, is absolutely superb with numerous comely waitresses at one's beck and call, in particular, one Greek lady who was absolutely on her game and very attentive to one's every need.

The food itself was beyond compare. The prawns and scallops were succulent, the kalamari was of a very generous portion and extremely well done. But the lamb dish was the coup de grace; absolutely excellent in every respect, so tender it literally fell off the bone. I have honestly never had better lamb in any Greek restaurant outside of Greece itself. Highly, highly recommended!

Overall, this establishment would rate as one of the very best of its kind in the Greater Vancouver area among a plethora of mediocre Greek restaurants. It is very much worth the drive to get to this out of the way part of the GVRD to sample the simply excellent fare available here.

OK Greek food

Submitted Saturday, February 26, 2011 - 5:44pm [Take-out]

Not wholly impressed. I specifically ordered their weeknight take out special, 2 chicken Souvlaki dinners for $24, which was advertised in their flyer that we received in the mail. I ordered on Valentine's Day. Nowhere in the flyer did it state that the weeknight special excludes Holidays. After 5 minutes of arguing, the hostess didn't budge. We ordered, anyway, and the food was okay-NOT the best Greek I've ever had. The hostess was nice enough to include a complimentary dessert, though. But, the okay food combined with the experience, will not make me go back. There are other Greek restaurants in the area, which are far better, like Dinaki's (the service AND food is FAR superior).

As the event planner for PoCoMo Youth Services Society, 2 other societies and PoCoMo planned a dinner fundraiser at Pallas Athena. I had the Greek salad, Kalamari dinner served with rice pilaf, roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables, pita and tzatziki. Everything came in HUGE and generous portions. We had approximately 70 people attended this event. I had noted excellent performance from the staff: friendly and prompt service with a smile!

In addition to the generous portions, the owner of the restaurant offered to cover the cost of the HST and donated a couple of gift certificates in support of our fundraiser. Thank you!

All of us had a great time. Again, on behalf of PoCoMo, thank you and your staff for your generosity, the exemplary service and support of PoCoMo.

Went on a Saturday night. Acoustics not great if there's aloud large party. Waitress was kooky but fun and good.

Cocktails were those goofy little ones - boo. Wine and coffees better, no beer on tap. I have never had better pita bread in a greek restaurant ever. But to be chareged $4.95 for a plate of pita and tzatziki when we just asked for a little more pita made us a little angry. Most places give free bread. Greek salad was unspectacluar and the spanikapita was avaerage. The rest of the meals were really good. Love the decor. Not one of those grossly dirty blue and white greek places with the filthy plants all around. This place felt clean.

Which is really too bad, because I really like this restaurant. There was a $15 entree coupon and my wife and I went there a few weeks ago. There was only one waitress and although there were only 2 other tables occupied, it took forever for her to get to us to take our order.

We ordered the kalamari and houmous to start. I had the roast lamb as my entree and my wife had the chicken souvlaki. The homous came out pretty quickly, as did the salads. Took about another 10 minutes for the kalamari. Everything good so far.

Then for whatever reason, we waited another 30 minutes for our entrees. There was no one else in the restaurant at this point, except two guys that came in for pick up. Unfortunately, I guess the pick ups were behind too, as they had to wait another 20 minutes for their order.

Finally, when our food came, the rice was cold and very hard...which is surprising, because it's normally quite good. My lamb was quite large and good, but the inside was a bit cold to the touch and needed to be nuked...i didn't bother sending it back, because i was so hungry.

This restaurant is actually quite good and this is the first time that the food didin't really surpass the service. Service is normally suspect, but decent if there is more than one waitress. Maybe the owners should hire more on service skill rather than looks and a killer bod....just a suggestion.

Would I go back? Maybe, but with other choices like My Greek Taverna in Coquitlam, I would probably skip Pallas Athena until things changed there.

The most delicious roast lamb you'll ever taste....

I LOVE this restaurant - it is the best Greek cuisine I have ever experienced. On the appy side I recommend the: Manitaria (mushrooms), Greek chicken soup (a perfect balance of chicken with lemon) and the Kalamari.

Above and beyond all - I highly recommend the house specialty Arni Psito (slow roasted lamb shoulder) - it is amazingly tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. Seriously, it is absolutely to die for! Amazing....

Service has always been excellent - the owner/hostess has a wonderful, energetic personality - she always has a beautiful smile and provides all of her customers with the royal treatment.

2 thumbs up!

We ate here this evening, Dec 9, 2007, the first time using our entertainment coupon. The coupon is pretty generous, giving you $17 off. The ambience inside was warm, pleasant and certainly classy with the black and white decor.

Service was very good and attentive. The servers were also quite jovial and seemed proud of what they do which is always nice to see. We had roast lamb shank for main course and lamb chops. The main course is most generous as you receive a Greek or Caeser salad to start along with pita and tzatziki. The meat was certainly high quality and well cooked with good flavour.

Right in the Save Foods complex with easy parking right outside the restaurant.

Outstanding Greek Food

My family and I dropped in on Sunday night. I could expect all the greek food are about the same. This one is a bit different. it's not crowded and outdated like other ones. The statues and the black table clothe are adding a classy feeling to it. We received calamari on the house and ordered the arni pisto aand prawn/shrimp entresses. The portion is generous on the lamb shoudler which are extremely tasty. The only thing I would recommend is the waiting time. I waited 30 mins for the entree since I ordered, and they are on the pricy side. otherwise, I would definitely come back again.

I always go here once/year with my entertainment book coupon. and we usually get chicken and lamb souvlaki. The pita bread and salad come first, which is a nice starter. The food is very filling, especially with the rice and pita.

They gave me an extra Tzatziki for free, which was nice. They only give you one Tzatziki with the pita and that is supposed to be for two meals. I love the stuff, so always need more. Not excessivly garlicy, so its alright in my book.

I would go without the coupon, but I have so many coupons for greek restaurants, I dont need to go back without one.

Definately a great place for a meal.

Staff are very friendly even though limited. I went on a Thursday night and it was packed. The Calamari is a very good deal, for less than $10 it serves 2-3 people for an appy. Dinner I had the prawns alfredo it was very good, and the prawns are very fresh.
Loves the Greek statues and lighting.
Unfortunately its located in a very small street and maybe difficult to find unless youknow the area, and they are only open for dinners.

Went here twice now, loved the lamb dishes. Not too salty, juicy meat, pleasant spices on the whole dish, fair sized portions. Overall very nice Greek food. I recommend trying this place out for Greek food. The decor is ok, don't remember the music that was playing. The hostess is a very friendly lady, made us feel comfortable. Our waitress though seemed a little bored with her job, or just not interested. Forgot our wine order, but later apologized for that. I wasn't too put off by it all.

I SWEAR I added a review of this place a couple of months ago, yet it's not here, so maybe I was in a parallell universe. I'm adding this again, as my other Greek restaurant review was compared to this meal.

This place is nowhere a restaurant should be, yet it was busy so you know they're doing something right.

We started out with kalamari, and while I'm not a huge Greek fan, I felt it was the best I've had. It was hot, and the batter was light and crispy.

I had the spanikopita and my friend had the lamb souvlaki. The spanikopita truly was the best I've had, it was fresh and crisp. And unlike others I've had, it didn't have that slightly bitter taste from the spinach/feta combo. The spinach was a fresh green as opposed to the dull green you see in others where they use frozen spinach. Phyllo truly was crispy.

The rice and potatoes were good as well, and the steamed green beans were done perfectly. I didn't care too much for the Greek salad, though, but I'm just not a huge fan of Greek salad.

We were urged to try the ekmek, as the hostess herself made it (owner's daughter). I've never had ekmek before, so it was a nice surprise, it was sooo good!!

The service was good, though our server was a bit of a Barbie robot, but the hostess came around frequently to counteract the lack of expression on Barbie.

Ambiance is a bit on the kitschy side, but really, I'm not too fussed about ambiance as long as the food is good.

As I've mentioned before, I'm not a huge Greek food fan, so if someone like me can rave about the meal, I urge you to try the restaurant if you're in the area.

Even though we live in Poco it was our first time visiting this great family run restaurant, it's a bit off the main track. What a great experience it was! As others have mentioned the food is excellent. The lamb was the best I have tasted in years. Kalamari and Pita also very, very good.

Our server was definitely on the ball, very friendly and animated, and was passionate about explaining how the food is prepared.

Next time we'll try save room for dessert....
