I don't eat out in JApanese restaurants often, not really suer why. But I love California and Dynamite rolls. Ordered on of each for take out and it was over $10. I Pay under $7 for same quality at the mall places. THere should be a discount for take out. Any way the rolls were good, and the California had avocado and not cucumber like the cheap places.
Over the past 5 years I've been consistantly coming here - Kisoya was a bit expensive, but well worth it - staff were polite and the quality of the food both fresh and well prepared - particualrly the house rolls.
Unfortunately it's clearly changed owners or head chefs about a year ago, and has gone down hill a great deal. The decor is still ok and the prices unchanged (medium high) but the quality has dropped immensely.
The last three times I was there the california rolls were overly salted, and the sashimi still tasted frozen. The food was nothing to write home about, and is no longer worth going to. I recommend the Koi in Poco - which at least has all you can eat O-toro and is a little less pricey.
Nice little suburban Japanese Restaurant. Food is good, not great. They offer friendly service in a clean pleasant Japanese setting. They also have several Tatami rooms for privacy. and of course a sushi Bar I reccomend it
I'm a fairly frequent customer and usually am very happy with my food. Things are a little pricey, particularly the sashimi. On the other hand, the assorted tempura is a bargain and has great items including salmon and brocolli. The gomae is not to my taste - the sauce is too dark and over powering. I was not a fan on the chicken teriyaki - thought the chicken tasted like seasoned frozen breasts. The service is always great - I haven't been there when they've been really busy - much of their business appears to be takeout.
I work nearby, so every time I crave for sushi, I'd come here. They've got nice and fresh sashimi, and GREAT selections of rolls. I really their food, but the only reason that hesitates me from buying there all the time is because of the price.
The food they have is quite decent, but at the same price, if at same distance, I'd rather go down to Shyun on Lougheed for sushi.
Their spicy tuna is awesome!!!
I love getting take-out from Kisoya! I've only tried their various sushi rolls but they have the best dynamite roll anywhere in PoCo and everything is really fresh. I think you get a good bang for your buck, obviously the lobster roll and some of the other fancy ones are a little pricey, but totally worth it. The restaurant is small but clean and everyone who works there is really friendly. If you want fresh, quality sushi, I highly recommend giving Kisoya a try.
I have been going to Kisoya for almost a decade. The sushi is top notch. The Sushi & Sashimi Box is the best box around and the Caterpillar Rolls are a must. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the Chicken Teriyaki, but that was on two occasions a couple years ago, they might have changed it since then.
The food is pricey, but it is definitely worth it based on the quality of the fish.
