Now that the Inno Bakery has been open for a year and a half I thought for sure this place would close down. It's been here forever, or at least as long I've been in Poco. I find their bread dry and tasteless and it is completely stale the next day. There's little in the way of hearty bread and no great shaped loaves mostly slice white loaves in plastic bags.
I can't comment on the deli part since I don't use it but it looks just live everywhere else that slices the prebought meat and cheeses. All the cookies and stuff are the same you can buy in any "european" stlye bakery - white from a mix. And the only good thing they used to have were th honey bran muffins, which tasted like real grammas bran muffins. Sadly no more. They now taste like they too are from a mix. Now that Inno's here I don't really see a reason to go here.
This place hs no clue how to bake. Its bread is bleached white or dry brown bread pretending to be whole wheat when it's not. The girls that work there are really rude. They don't have any good cookies anymore like the walnut raisin ones, only white bread chocolate chip etc. Even the gingerbread men have NO flavor. I ordered a date square. I took one bite and threw it in the garbage. It had a huge thick brown soft gooey filling of something that looked like dates but was not. It was not really even sweet or tasty just sticky. The dusting of topping looked like floor sweepings and tasted kind of like cinnamon. That is NOT a date square. It was vile. How can they really sell junk like this? I hope they go out of business soon as they deserve to. It's not 1974 anymore. No one wants the crap you make.
This bakery has been around for more than a decade and I used to go there for gingerbread men, some danishes and the odd time, cakes. The cakes are okay but let's leave it at that and their bread is very good but like everything, prices go up. We have not been there for some time now because there are other choices and their quality of baked goods is comparable to Superstore, Safeway and Save-on-Foods, okay.
I'm seriously surprised by the bad reviews below. They honestly must be working for the new bakery across the street. There's a reason Europe Bakery has been a mainstay of downtown Port Coquitlam for 30 years. It's got solid baked goods.
And it's actually a bakery too... the stuff is baked in-store nice and fresh. The pastries are sooooo good. The lunch sandwiches are good value and made with fresh ingredients. Their prices are from 30 years ago too, which means stuff isn't overpriced like those new "hip" bakeries that sell $7 cupcakes.
If I have one complaint, it's that the inside of the store looks a little out-of-date. That's hardly enough to warrant a one-star review. This place is quality. The urbanspoon reviews, with a 97% favourable rating, are far more accurate than the reviews below.
