Darn De Dutch

A nice family place for brekkie - portions are okay and so is the taste. Good for fun occasions if you've never been before. I remember one of the older locations that used to be on Main & Terminal. It was a weekend treat for my Aunt & Uncle to take us for a yummy breakfast. That place always brings back fond memories. It's nice to have one close to home now. =) Much better than IHOP.

No real deal to be had here.

After all these yrs, finally managed to get myself to trying out one of the De Dutch locations. It's a nice family restaurant serving decent pancakes, and service & speed of service-wise, likely preferable to all IHOP's out there as the latter has been consistently slow. But it ain't cheap here either. For the pannakoek I had, it was tasty enough. Nice crisp edges, and perfectly sweetened dough without tasting at all doughy. Especially good to use to wrap the bacon & sausage, etc, with. However, it is not worth the price tag. I'd prefer the Dutch Wooden Shoe over here by far at that point. Still, portion-wise, it was disappointing, however, their classic strawberry milkshake was pretty good. I recently tried out ABC's and realized that it is possible to mess up a milkshake. It's still not as good as White Spot's, but good enough nonetheless with chunks of strawberry present.

Their burger with a fried egg was pretty tasty though the patty looked smaller than they claim it to be. It was flavoured like a White Spot burger, surprisingly. A definite better value than their pannekoeks (sp).

I will be back to a De Dutch if i had no other choice as nothing is especially wrong with it so I now know I needn't avoid it altogether, but it's nothing special.

Ambiance: Giving it a "2" b/c the floor is unswept/vacuumed & the booth has stuff tickling my bared legs... had to relocate to middle of the room boothless.

Favourite brekkie

I've been a fan of De Dutch for 10 years now (starting with the White Rock location).

Very fresh & tasty breakfast choices, many with terrific fruit garnishes. Good coffee (& tea) too.

Consistent friendly service; clean room & washrooms.

I used to think that dining here was a luxury, with prices on the high-side. ($30+ for 2). Then I realized that White Spot & IHOP brekkies cost pretty much the same!

Great spot on weekdays - be prepared to wait in line on weekends.

mediocre / bland food good service clean atmosphere

I just think that almost $14 for a simple pannekoek is a lot to spend for breakfast. Its a pancake with a filling and no sides. Pretty bland nothing special... I ordered a side of hashbrowns but they're pretty average nothing special. I would prefer them spiced or to have some sort of fun dipping sauce but they don't have anything to offer. As well whats up with the eggs benedict being served on a cracker??!? Well a cracker like thing, I thought they were supposed to be on something sort of soft like a english muffin.... thats a bit odd isn't it? and $4 for juice thats a bit outrageous!!

The restaraunt is very clean though and the waitresses and staff are really pleasant and happy and nice! Great service and I like eating at a clean establishment!

Pretty good?

The service is nice, and food tastes good. However, the prices are a little steep for breakfast. The portions are good (no leftovers and filling) but I can get bigger portions at the same quality for less if I drive a little further towards Coquitlam Centre. I would go back, but not on a regular basis or I'll be poor in no time, spending that much on breakfast. lol

We visit the Dutch regularly and are always satisfied when we leave, sometimes we eat a bit more then we should but it all is so delicious. Our favorites are the Omelettes and the Rembrandt.
we love the orange juice and of course the pancakes, this is how they should be, not the thick jakkie fluff we have had at other restaurants. we love the fresh fruit and we love to eat healthy and this is what we would like to find more off.

Not like the other De Dutches!
By bijou_7 of burnaby (10 Reviews)

This one is better! I usually steer clear of De Dutches but my friend wanted to go here for lunch, before hiking. We split an eggs benedict w/ smoked salmon, and a banana strawberry crepe.

When the server overheard we wanted to share, she divided up the portions equally on our plates, and the result was GORGEOUS! It came with about 5 types of fruit, artfully arranged, apples thinly sliced and stacked architecturally, hash browns, one crepe each, everything symmetrically and perfectly arranged! I wish I took my camera. Next time.

Great prompt service too!

Way better than IHOP

I have yet to be disappointed with De Dutch. Their food is amazing and worth the price because it is made with real ingredients. Would chose this over IHOP any day - in fact I have and will continue to do so. The atmosphere is good and it is clean.

Very Poor Value

Short and sweet. The rest of my family enjoys going here, so I have no choice but to tag along sometimes. However, none of them cook. I do. You can't fault the food. It is safe, bland, and will keep you alive. However every time I go there I am struck by one thought only, just how poor the value is. My pancake (whatever spelling they choose to use) cost $12 and contained less than a dollars worth of raw ingredients. End of story.

Had an incredibly and very satisfying breakfast this morning, the specialty cut fresh fruit was a wonderful addition to my platter. Way too much food on the plate and all was very fresh and tasty. Would definately go back.
