A group of my friends and I all live in the area and frequent the Cat and Fiddle and we made plans to head to the cat for xmas eve get together. We ended up having quite a big group show up and they were very accomodating and made sure everyone in the group was taken care of. We had a great time, our server was awesome, the food was awesome and we all left happy.
I highly recommend the the cat and fiddle, the servers and bartenders are friendly and outgoing, the food is excellent and they always have great drink specials too!

Great Local Pub

I went to the Cat and Fiddle for my birthday and had a wonderful time. Even tho it was short notice they were able to make a reservation for a large party for me (which most places don't do for you). They must of just changed their menu because there were a bunch of new things on there. i tried their Sweet Chili Chicken and OMG it was amazing. All of our food came out pretty fast for having a large number of people in our group. Our server was great, drinks were always full and she even got a few of the other girls and one of the cute bartenders to come over and sing happy birthday to me when my friends brought the cake out. we had such a fun time there that we ended up just staying there all night dancing on the dance floor. the DJ was really good, he played any kind of music that you wanted to listen to. i would for sure go back for my birthday next year or tell me friends to go there for theirs.

I hadn't been to the cat in a couple of years but a friend told me there was a new chef and the food was great so I thought why not.WoW the food is maybe the best pub food in the province(at least for the ones I've tried)
I spend my free time in the summer riding my bike and I wouldn't even begin to guess at how many pubs I've eaten at but every time I go for a ride I make a point of finding a pub for lunch and I've been doing this since 1981 so I've ridden the mainland, sunshine coast and island from end to end several times over and the Cat has the best food I've had at a pub for many years.I've been there 3 times now and each time fantastic. The last time I was there they said they're putting in a new menu that their new chef has planned.I can see there's going to be more than a few rides out to Golden Ears and the Dewdney Trunk Rd thru Port Co. in my future, all I need now is some weather as good as the food.............................

Good Food, Nice Staff

I strongly disagree with these people's reviews. I have been going to the Cat And Fiddle for years and not once had a complaint about the food or service. They just re-vamped the menu and i have enjoyed trying the new items, most of which I recommend to friends and family when they are looking for a place to eat. The one thing that keeps me coming back is the staff. They are friendly, knowledgable and honest. They aren't just in it to make a quick buck, they want to make sure that their patrons have an enjoyable experience. When I ask about a certain menu item they tell me the truth if they would eat it themselves or not, which is something you don't find in many places.
This was the first bar I went to when i turned 19 and it's always the first place i bring up when me and my friends are looking to have good food, good drinks and a good time.

Three Strikes against Cat & Fiddle

I Went to the Cat & Fiddle Three Times

1st time; 8 of us went in at lunch time 12:05 PM to be exact. After 40 minutes we kept asking our server for our food. She would always say “It’s up!” but never bring any food. Even after two hours she kept saying “It’s up!” but no food would arrive. The table next to us was served, ate, cleaned, re-sat three time over and we still hadn’t received our food. After 2 hours and 20 minutes we asked for the manager and said we weren’t paying for our food, even if it shows up. As my boss was a local big-shot, the manager tore up the bill for our drinks. We had to go back to work with nothing to eat! We didn’t return to our office until nearly 3 PM.

2nd time; six of us went to watch a hockey game (I couldn’t talk my friends out of going there!). The TV above our table had the volume turned off so we kept asking our server to turn up the volume. “As soon as the game starts” is all she would say over and over. We asked repeatedly if the volume works to which she said “yes, of course it does!” When the show started she said she’d turn up the volume when the game started. When they were singing the national Anthem she said she’d turn up the volume when the game started. When the game started she said “The volume doesn’t work on this TV.” We never tipped her one cent after that and ordered our beers separately one at a time.

3rd time; three of us went for a business lunch (I couldn’t talk my colleagues out of going there!). I ordered a chicken Caesar salad. I never got a fork. I asked my server, then other servers for forks, I asked to bartender for a fork – no luck. After forty minutes of asking for a fork my colleagues said it’s time to leave. I turned my plate of untouched Chicken Caesar Salad upside-down on the table and rubbed it all around. “You can’t do that!” my colleague said. “Do you want to see what else I can’t do?” I asked him, ready to throw plate through a window.

RATINGS

FOOD; two of the times I went to eat, I either didn’t get food or a fork to eat it with. The 2nd time I had nachos which were okay, I guess.

SERVICE; beyond crap, servers are outright liars.

VALUE, total rip-off.

AMBIENCE; okay if you like belligerent low-lifes and the stench of stale urine.

Can I rate in negative stars?

Where to start...I have been here a few times, and I will ever go back. I have to admit the wings are good, and a good value. The service? HORRIBLE. I ordered a caesar drink. The tomato juice was fermented...it was nasty. The drink cost about $6, I tipped the waitress $2 on one drink...don’t ask why? I called her over and told her my problem with the drink...I told her it was fermented and she looked at me like I asked what’s wrong? It was bad. So then she’s like ok I will get you another one, I said no thanks just a diet coke. She brought the coke out and it tasted so bad! Not like the bottom of the barrel in the soda guns, but like someone rung there bar towel into my drink. She later refused to give my money back on both drinks! I tipped her $2! Then she told me to go talk to the bartender. I did, and to my surprise when I was at the bar there was two ladies complaining that there caesers tasted funny! Then I asked the bartender for my money back, he said he would have to ask the server...She walks over gives me this un wanted attitude and hands me a five and some change...not 8$ needless to say I walked out of that place so fast, and will NEVER go back!

I went to the Cat and the Fiddle February 17th, 2008. I was with my fiance and several of her friends for a fundraiser. At our table was about 10 people eager to have a good night, and 2 more tables with an equal number of people. The cost, $12.00 for a burger and a beer, but we were prepared to spend a lot more for drinks throughout the night. We sat in the upper area of the bar/restaurant.

We waited an hour for drinks at the table. I personally made two trips to the bar asking where our drinks were only to be told the server has to bring them. When our food finally arrived, with our drinks the waitress had completely forgotten my order. I waited an additional 1/2 hour, watching everyone eat, until I went to speak to the bartender. He apologized sincerely and said my meal would be taken off the bill because they don't have the order in the kitchen. As I sat down the server walked over to me to inform my meal takes longer because it wasn't a burger. I didn't have the heart to tell her I already was told it was never entered. Needless to say, everyone got to sit and watch me eat for 2 minutes before I felt uncomfortable and asked them to wrap it to go.

I asked for my bill and the server gave it to me, my meal included (obviously the bartender hadn't taken off the meal) and the server informed me she had taken off the ice-tea I was drinking. I paid and left without a scene because at this point I was already in debt to this place $12.00 for the fundraiser and just wanted to leave.

On the bright side, everyone was able to leave after only one drink and head over to another pub called Woody's. Just my fiance and I probably spent an additional $100.00 as did all the other couples. It was great to see our money go to a pub that deserved it, and it gave all of us plenty to talk about all night and even the staff at Woody's had a good laugh in disbelief.

was at this place the other day .. i used to love this place yearsa ago ... my has it changed.... i can tell they are trying to cut costs and make it more profitable.. obviously its not a good thing when the customer notices... tho still has a positive energy during day and early evening.. nioght time i dont feel safe inside... too much BS and bad press with stabbings and shooting and stories of bouncers inflicting injury on customers at thier own discretion.. id go back.. just not late at night

I can honestly say that I like this place. The wings are great. The drinks are good, and the prices are very reasonable. They have tons of parking outside, and great service.

This is a great local pub in the Tri-Cities area, and is quite the popular place to be! Nice looking girls, nice looking servers!

If this is all Port Coquitlam can offer than it seems residents should move on to Vancouver or Port Moody! The servers all have pms and the food is just gross. Good place to watch sports but if you need a meal then move on to someplace where your waitress can tell you what you're eating. Too bad because the location is prime for something better!
